(AP) - In a largely invisible cost of the war in Iraq, nearly 800 civilians working under contract to the Pentagon have been killed and more than 3,300 hurt doing jobs normally handled by the U.S. military, according to figures gathered by The Associated Press.

Iraq War Exacts Toll on Contractors

If you read this story all the way thru, you’ll understand why I say this, I am sorry for anyone that gets killed in the mission to Iraq but the contractors are there because they are paid VERY handsomely to be there… Our troops are there because of their dedication to duty and country…

BOGOTA, Colombia (AP) - It was like a macabre twist in a film noir: Confused hit men on the lookout for two men in a white sedan gun down the wrong people. Then they spot their intended targets, in the same traffic jam 20 yards away. And kill them, too. And it was all caught on a traffic camera.

Botched Assassination Caught on Camera

Every day, I swear, it gets harder and harder every day, the things a businessman has to go thru, good help is just so hard to find… I mean, it used to be easy to find a good, reliable ‘hit man’ in Columbia, but even that’s gone to hell in a handbasket…

SEATTLE (AP) - Republican presidential hopeful John McCain said Friday that British Prime Minister Tony Blair has sacrificed his career to support the Iraq war, and the Arizona senator acknowledged that he could face the same fate.

Don’t feel too bad there Johnny, a lot of Repubs are out of work for throwing their support to ‘The Little Prince’, and I’ll bet that come ‘08, if this mess hasn’t turned around substantially, a lot more Repubs are going to be goners as well… And the sad part is, it’s ALL Bush’s fault, if he’d done this correctly, you guys would have been hailed as heroes…

HARTFORD, Conn. - U.S. Sen. Joe Lieberman rejected speculation Friday that he would join the Republican Party, calling the notion “much ado about nothing.” Lieberman, I-Conn., told Time magazine this week that joining the Republicans was a “very remote possibility,” prompting speculation by numerous observers and Web journals that he would tip the balance of the Senate away from the Democrats, who have 49 seats plus two independents who caucus with them.

Lieberman: I won’t switch to GOP

Personally, I hope Lieberman doesn’t join the Repubs, I hope he maintains his Independent status and hangs in there on some good, solid Conservative values, he’s a lot more valuable like that, at least to me… Lieberman’s got balls, he ran as an Indy and won, that takes guts, but if he were to dump the Indy designation and go back to being a full blown Dem, then he will have lost any and all credibility he may have built up in this effort…

WASHINGTON - Rep. Paul Ryan, returning from his first trip to Iraq, said Thursday that the U.S. decision to send 21,500 troops to Iraq represents the last opportunity for success. “We made it very clear to the Iraqis this is their last chance, that the American people are quickly losing their patience,” said Ryan, R-Wis., in a telephone interview. “And this new strategy is the last chance that they’re going to get to make it work.”

Rep. Ryan calls Iraq surge plan ‘last chance’

There’s a lot to be said for the Congressman’s words, a lot of truth there, but I wouldn’t say the ’surge’ is the last chance, there are other options, but they’ll never be used… Not by the president we have at this time…
