ICE chiefs slammed with “no confidence” vote from agents

August 5th, 2010 . by TexasFred

I generally don’t place a lot of stock in reports from The Examiner. The Examiner is, basically, a well syndicated blog, filled with opinions and few links to ANY substantiation of that opinion.

That said, this is a piece I believe to be very accurate, partly because of personal, 1st hand knowledge regarding the policies of some Law Enforcement Agencies, and partly because of the credibility of this particular writer, Mr. Jim Kouri.

Jim Kouri, CPP is currently fifth vice-president of the National Association of Chiefs of Police and he’s a columnist for The Examiner ( and New Media Alliance ( In addition, he’s a blogger for the Cheyenne, Wyoming Fox News Radio affiliate KGAB ( Kouri also serves as political advisor for Emmy and Golden Globe winning actor Michael Moriarty.

He’s former chief at a New York City housing project in Washington Heights nicknamed “Crack City” by reporters covering the drug war in the 1980s. In addition, he served as director of public safety at a New Jersey university and director of security for several major organizations. He’s also served on the National Drug Task Force and trained police and security officers throughout the country. Kouri writes for many police and security magazines including Chief of Police, Police Times, The Narc Officer and others.

ICE chiefs slammed with “no confidence” vote from agents

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents overwhelmingly say that their department’s leadership has become politicized to the point of affecting the effectiveness of ICE.

ICE agents through their union claim their leaders have little regard for the safety of American people. Their union has released a letter announcing its recent unanimous “vote of no confidence in ICE agency heads, accusing them of “misleading the American public regarding illegal immigration in order to further a pro-amnesty agenda.

The National Immigration and Customs Enforcement Council and its affiliated local councils cast a unanimous 259-0 vote of no confidence in ICE Director John Morton and Assistant Director Phyllis Coven, according to Fox News Channel’s Martha MacCallum.

The National Council members criticized the ICE leadership and claim they created “misguided and reckless initiatives,â€? and claim ICE managers “abandoned the Agency’s core mission of enforcing United States immigration laws and providing for public safety, and have instead directed their attention to campaigning for policies and programs related to amnesty.â€?

Besides Morton’s and Coven’s low marks, the Obama Administration recently appointed a former police chief, who believes in illegal alien sanctuary city policies, to command the immigration enforcement program that entails federal agents working with local police departments on cases involving illegal aliens.

As part of the Homeland Security Department’s anti-terrorism mission, the new director for the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Office of State and Local Coordination is now Harold Hurtt, an outspoken critic of immigration enforcement on the local level such as Arizona’s new immigration enforcement law.

“As police chief in two different cities with huge illegal alien populations—Phoenix and Houston—Hurtt enforced don’t-ask-don’t-tell immigration measures that prevented officers from inquiring about a suspects’ legal status in the U.S.,” according to officials at Judicial Watch, a non-partisan, public-interest group that investigates public corruption.

In his new post, Hurtt will receive a salary $180,000 a year plus benefits to oversee outreach and communication between federal immigration staff and local law enforcement agencies. He is charged with strengthening the collaboration between local police and federal immigration officials in an effort to combat a crisis that has rocked practically every major U.S. city and many small municipalities, according to Judicial Watch officials.

Homeland Security officials are promoting Hurtt as “a respected member of the law enforcement community who will be an “invaluable asset to ICE’s outreach and coordination efforts.

However, the reality is quite different, say proponents of tough immigration enforcement. Chief Hurtt is on record opposing immigration enforcement and as police chief protected the most violent of criminals. Hurtt has even testified before Congress that local police should not assist with immigration enforcement, say officials at Judicial Watch.

White supremacists, demonstrators square off in LA

White supremacists, demonstrators square off in LA

LOS ANGELES (AP) – A white supremacist group rallied against illegal immigration in downtown Los Angeles Saturday as hundreds of counter-protesters gathered to shout them down in a tense standoff that included several arrests, thrown rocks and police in riot gear.

Police officers stood between the white supremacists and counter-demonstrators on the south lawn of Los Angeles’ City Hall, where about 50 members of the National Socialist Movement waved American flags and swastika banners for about an hour.

Five people, all of them counter-protesters, were arrested for throwing items, police said.

The white supremacists, many of them wearing flack helmets and black military fatigue uniforms, shouted “Sieg Heil” before each of their speakers took the podium to taunt counter-protesters with racial, anti-Semitic and misogynistic epithets.

These NAZI bastards were wrong in the 1930′s and 1940′s and they have been wrong ever since, in each and every thing they have done or attempted to do. The Storm Trooper uniforms, the swastikas, all of it. It lends nothing to their credibility, which is already VERY thin at best.

I can understand, and even sympathize with their cause regarding the ILLEGAL INVADERS that are over-running this nation, I have made some very politically incorrect statements myself in that regard, and I still stand behind every word of it, but these people take their message a lot further than the ILLEGAL.

Their racial, anti-Semitic and misogynistic epithets are WRONG, on every level.

These people are vile racists. They hate Jews simply because they are Jewish. They still believe that barefoot, pregnant and SILENT is the way their women should be kept. They still believe that Blacks are 2nd class citizens, if they even think that highly of them. As I said, these Neo-NAZI skinheads are, and have always been, terribly wrong in their beliefs.

The ILLEGAL INVASION should be stopped, it should have been stopped years ago. It wasn’t. I am guessing these white supremacists simply see an easy target that can’t fight back because of their own illegality and they hope to garner some sympathy for themselves.

As much as I welcome all help in forcing ILLEGALS out of this nation, these are not a group of people I can ally myself with. They are too far out there in whatever direction their political ideology dictates.

I have been called a *vile racist* for my views on how to handle the problem we face from these ILLEGAL INVADERS.

The fact of the matter is this, an ILLEGAL INVADER is NOT a race of people, an ILLEGAL INVADER is a criminal, and those that criticize me for my stringent interpretation of the laws these ILLEGALS are breaking are apparently supporters OF ILLEGAL INVADERS!

You see, I’m kind of funny about this nation and our laws. I believe in enforcement of those laws and the harsh punishment of the lawbreakers.

I also have a really BAD attitude about INVASION, especially when it’s OUR home that’s being invaded and over-run by these ILLEGALS.

A very moving part of the Lone Star TEA Party on Wednesday night was two speakers that are both immigrants, one from Vietnam and one from Mexico.

Both are very Conservative, both are naturalized U.S. citizens and both are VERY anti-ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION. Both spoke at length regarding their efforts to get to America, LEGALLY, the path they took to gain American citizenship, LEGALLY, the RIGHT WAY, the LEGAL way!

You know, now that I think about it, I’ll bet you BOTH of these people will be accused of being racists too. It seems like anyone that supports LEGAL immigration is called a racist these days anyway.

There is one point regarding MY perceived racism that certain erudite individuals fail to comprehend, this nation is under siege. We are being INVADED! If that certain person were a HISTORY professor he would know that a nation under siege repels their invaders in the most violent of ways.

Thousands protest sheriff’s immigration efforts

January 17th, 2010 . by TexasFred

Thousands protest sheriff’s immigration efforts

PHOENIX (AP) – Ten thousand immigrant rights advocates marched in front of a county jail in Phoenix Saturday in a protest that was aimed at Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s immigration efforts and was marked by a clash between a small group of protesters and police officers.

Organizers say the protest was meant to show officials in Washington that Arpaio shouldn’t handle immigration enforcement, and that Congress and the Obama administration need to come up with a way for immigrant workers to come to the country legally.

The three-mile walk that started in a west Phoenix park ended by afternoon at the Durango Jail Complex, a collection of five jails, where officials played music, including a record by singer Linda Ronstadt, to drown out noise made by protesters. Ronstadt took part in Saturday’s protest.

Organizers said the protest was meant to show officials in Washington that Joe Arpaio shouldn’t handle immigration enforcement? Well, I guess the next thing that needs to be established is just WHO DOES need to handle immigration enforcement. It’s a certainty that Washington isn’t doing a good job.

That’s not a stab at the Obama administration either by the way, not at them in particular. It is, in fact, an accusation towards ALL U.S. administrations dating back to 1954 when President Dwight D. Eisenhower initiated Operation Wetback. Since that time, immigration enforcement has been getting sloppier with every administration.

Ronald Reagan, perhaps the greatest President we’ll ever see, signed the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 into law. It was simply a move at granting amnesty to those that were not in this nation legally.

George W. Bush tried his very best to push off an amnesty act for the illegals, causing him to be called into doubt concerning his conservatism, while confirming his RINO bonafides.

Kay Bailey Hutchison is a supporter of AMNESTY for ILLEGALS. I say that without stuttering in ANY way. Hutchison was a HUGE supporter of the Immigrant Dream Act, and thank God, it bit the dust. Immigrant ‘Dream’ Act Fails Key Senate Vote.

So, you see, I am not singling out the Obama administration. I am NOT blasting the Democrats, not just the Democrats. I am pointing my finger at ALL of them, and I am asking the questions that I know fully well will never be answered by any bleeding heart, left leaning administration.

The questions I want answered, by Obama, Napolitano, DHS, INS, all of them, is this; what part of ILLEGAL are you guys missing? What part of ILLEGAL are the people protesting Joe Arpaio missing? What part of ENFORCING THE LAW do they not understand?

That’s what Law Enforcement agencies are in place to do, is it not? To enforce the law of the land?

What are these people afraid of? If these ILLEGALS took the time to go through the LEGAL process of coming here, I would welcome them with open arms. If they came here LEGALLY and took the time and put out the effort to become U.S. citizens, English speaking citizens, I am sure they would find a lot less opposition to their being here.

The one thing I can’t accept is blanket amnesty for those not here legally. They are criminals in every sense of the word. They don’t want to be American citizens, they want, for the most part, to make enough money to support themselves and to be able to send U.S. dollars to families still in Mexico. They aren’t making ANY effort on their own to become LEGAL, much less citizens!

Protesters chanted “Joe must go” as they approached the jail complex. One person carried a sign that said “We are human” and bore a picture of a lawman with a wolf’s face. A family of five wore T-shirts saying “Who would Jesus deport?”
