McCain backs gun decision, Obama straddles issue

June 26th, 2008 . by TexasFred

WASHINGTON (AP) - John McCain welcomed a Supreme Court decision invalidating a District of Columbia handgun ban. Barack Obama sought to straddle the subject by saying he favors an individual’s right to bear firearms as well as a government’s right to regulate them.

The hotly contentious issue surfaced in the presidential campaign Thursday after the Supreme Court ruled that Americans have a constitutional right to own guns and struck down the 32-year-old D.C. ban.

Either John McCain is a born again gun lover or he is the most pandering RINO that has ever run for office.

John McCain tried running for president in 2000 as an anti-gunner. This year it appears he is seeking to ‘come home’ to the pro-gun community, but the wounds are deep and memories long. John McCain - GOA 2008

As if there wasn’t already plenty of evidence that Senator John McCain is the wrong choice for pro-gun Republicans in the Presidential primary, the Columbus Dispatch has added one more item to the list: Buckeye Firearms Association

Nowhere is McCain’s chicanery and duplicity more jeopardous than in the area of the right to keep and bear arms. On issues relating to the Second Amendment, John McCain is a disaster! For example, the highly respected Gun Owners of America (GOA) rates McCain with a grade of F-. McCain’s failing grade is well deserved. John McCain Is A Liberal Gun Grabber

I have a few friends that were at the recent NRA convention in Louisville and from what I have been told, and this IS a quote, “McCain is NOT our friend when it comes to guns”.

John McCain has always been a notorious gun grabber, and I am quite serious in my opinion that he’s either made the turn to being a gun supporter or he’s simply pandering for votes, I am not going to accuse nor sing praises, one way or the other, but I will say this, I know that his reception at the NRA convention was *polite*.

The views on guns and gun control held by Barack Obama are often *muddied* with deliberate double-speak, he won’t take a hard stand on the issue.

His Democratic rival, Obama, issued a more carefully worded statement apparently aimed at both moderate voters and his liberal base. The statement from Obama, who has long said local governments should be able to regulate guns, did not specifically say whether Obama agreed with overturning the specific D.C. ban. But he said Thursday’s ruling “will provide much-needed guidance to local jurisdictions across the country.”

Indecision is NOT a stand, it is indecision and it will NOT garner any support from true Conservatives and the gun owners of this nation.

Obama has consistently supported gun control legislation that came up while he was in the Illinois state legislature and the U.S. Senate.

For example, when Obama ran for the Illinois state senate the political group, Independent Voters of Illinois (IVI), asked him if he supported a “ban [on] the manufacture, sale and possession of handguns” and he responded “yes.”

Realizing how damaging this could prove in the general election, his presidential campaign “flatly denied” Obama ever held this view, blaming it instead on a staffer from his state senate race. SOURCE

So, we know where Obama stands on gun issues and it doesn’t look too promising either, no matter what he says.

Gun owners, we are entering one of the most precarious times in U.S. history, our personal freedoms are jeopardized now more than ever, the Supreme Court has to rule that the 2nd Amendment actually means exactly what is says, as written, A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Guard your liberties and freedoms America, we have enemies within the walls, and to those that took the oath, these words reign supreme: I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign or domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same.

How many democrats have, own or carry a gun(s), yet they will still vote for the Communist Obama?

    Unbelievable.

    Extremely low IQ.

This one issue and fact alone should have McCain receiving 95% of the vote, but he won’t get them to see the light.

But as you pointed out before, I’ll still vote for McCain over Obama. Staying home, voting for anyone else, is simply a vote FOR Barack Hussein Obama. It’s what I’ve been writing for some time.

Despite all we know about McCain, Obama will tear this country apart from without and within. SCOTUS is THAT important.

Name of the game is say anything or do anything just get elected! Then you can screw people all you want, Bush II is a perfect example of this.
