TransCanada Renewing Request to Build Keystone Pipeline

TransCanada Renewing Request to Build Keystone Pipeline

WASHINGTON — TransCanada said Monday that it would reapply for a permit to build the Keystone XL pipeline from Canadian oil sands formations in Alberta to refineries on the Gulf of Mexico, assuring that the fiercely contested project will remain a source of political heat throughout the presidential campaign.

The company also said it would seek immediate permission to move ahead with the southernmost portion of the project, from Cushing, Okla., to the gulf, in the hope that that part of the pipeline could be in service by the end of 2013. As a standalone project, the company said, the Gulf Coast portion of the pipeline would cost $2.3 billion and create about 4,000 construction and support jobs.

In January, President Obama rejected the company’s previous application to build the full pipeline, saying a Congressional mandate that he decide on the project by mid-February did not allow adequate time to complete environmental reviews. He said his action was not a final judgment on the project and invited the company to move quickly on the southern part of the 1,700-mile pipeline, which would transport only domestic oil. That part would not cross any international borders and thus would not require special approval from the State Department.

Republicans in Congress and on the campaign trail have harshly criticized the president’s decision to block the pipeline, saying it forfeited American jobs and increased the country’s dependence on imported oil.

Keystone Pipeline Permit Request to Be Renewed

As of today, Feb. 27, 2012 gasoline prices here in my part of Texas are rising, and it’s NOT a gentle rise.

As we were out and about taking care of some local business, the average price for a gallon of gas was in the neighborhood of $3.57/3.60 per gallon.

There is NO excuse for this!

Mr. Obama was squeezed from the other side by Democrats and environmentalists who oppose the pipeline. They say it encourages production of a particularly dirty sort of crude from oil sands and would threaten sensitive lands and water sources along its route.

Opponents mounted two large protests around the White House last year, calling for an end to the project. Mr. Obama tried to finesse the issue by delaying a decision until after the presidential election, but Republicans in Congress forced his hand.

None of this is about what’s good or right for American and the people that work their tails off every day in an effort to keep this nation running. None of this is about keeping a few dollars in the pocket of the working man and woman, it’s ALL about left and right, Dems and GOP, the *Greenies* and tree huggers and an effort to keep Barack Hussein Obama in office.

The White House welcomed the company’s decision to move forward with the Gulf Coast part of the pipeline on Monday.

“As the president made clear in January,” it said, “we support the company’s interest in proceeding with this project, which will help address the bottleneck of oil in Cushing that has resulted in large part from increased domestic oil production, currently at an eight-year high.”

“We look forward to working with TransCanada to ensure that it is built in a safe, responsible and timely manner,” the statement added, “and we commit to take every step possible to expedite the necessary federal permits.”

Political doublespeak. Obama and company have NO desire to work with anyone as far as American energy independence is concerned.

I am of the opinion that Obama and Company will say and DO anything it takes to get Obama reelected, and God forbid, but IF that were to happen, Obama and his cohorts will immediately quash any effort to drill or mine the massive amount of fossil fuels this nation, and our neighbors to the north possess.

If the United States were to fully exploit its natural resources, oil, natural gas and coal, if American companies were allowed to build more oil refineries, if we were to drill ANWR (Arctic National Wildlife Reserve) and the Bakken, this nation would NOT be faced with an oil shortage for the next 200 or so years and we wouldn’t have to buy so much as a GALLON of Arab and OPEC oil.

Reasonably priced oil and gas, produced IN America, BY Americans, FOR Americans. That translates into American freedom from foreign oil and full independence for the American people from the stranglehold Arab and other oil producers are using to control us and OWN us!

Somehow, I don’t believe the current Socialist administration gives a DAMN about American freedom and independence.

Obama can keep this shit up just as long as he remains somewhat uncommitted. When he is RE-elected, you can bet your ass that, the microsecond that occurs, he will SHUT Keystone XL down in a HEARTBEAT.

I don’t think we could ever have possibly envisioned a worse president than Mr Obama. His goal is to completely RUIN this country and, in truth, completely re-work it to his Socialistic dreams and ideals. He’s just like Muslims: they — and he — TELL YOU what they’re going to do, what they want and America simply REFUSES TO LISTEN.

I will vote for ANYone over Obama.

I’m thinking back channel discussions with Canada have occurred. Obama has seen the political damage he’s done by killing the deal and wants a do-over. IF the XL pipeline is dead, so is Obama if gas prices are where they are expected to be. Now if Obama can get it back, he can say “The republicans forced his hand and some “regs” had to be reviewed so I didn’t act irrationally etc… And once that was done, I “Duh WON” was able to do the impossible and fix what the republicans broke”

The political gamesmanship of this administration is Chicago like in the most disastrous way imaginable. And the useful idiots will still beg for the crumbs out of King Hussein’s hands.

I wonder how fast he changes his mind when gas goes over $5 a gallon and his approval rating dips under 30%.

More Chi Town shenanigans that is for sure… The obama must go. Pure and simple.
