Obama: ‘If I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon’

WASHINGTON (AP) - Urging Americans to “do some soul searching,” President Barack Obama injected himself into the emotional debate over the fatal shooting of a teenager in Florida, turning the racially charged case into a personal matter for the nation’s first black president.

“If I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon,” Obama said Friday.

Obama’s words also catapulted the death in Florida of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, already the focus of major national attention, into the presidential campaign. Three Republicans seeking Obama’s job all used the word “tragedy” to describe the shooting, as the president did.

“I can only imagine what these parents are going through, and when I think about this boy, I think about my own kids,” Obama said at the White House.

Obama: ‘If I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon’

Can Barack Hussein Obama pander for votes any harder than this?

I’m not saying Obama is a heartless bastard, but there is NOTHING the man does that isn’t specifically designed to influence voters as he attempts to entice as many bleeding hearts over to his side as possible.

And in the interest of *fair and balanced*, proving once again that I DO call a spade a spade, no matter which side of the aisle it falls on;

Republican presidential candidates quickly weighed in after Obama spoke.

Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum called the shooting a “horrible case.” Referring to Florida’s “stand your ground” law, which gives people wide latitude to use deadly force rather than retreat during a fight, Santorum said: “Stand your ground is not doing what this man did.”

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, campaigning in Louisiana, said the shooting was a “terrible tragedy, unnecessary, uncalled for, and inexplicable at this point.”

Romney said it was “entirely appropriate for the district attorney to be looking into this and to have called a grand jury and to find out what the facts are. We hope that justice is done in this case.”

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich of Georgia also called it a tragedy and credited local authorities for empaneling a grand jury. “There’s a point in there where there ought to be some kind of signal that’s pretty clear that this is a guy who’d found a hobby that’s very dangerous,” Gingrich said of Zimmerman.

I personally find this pandering to be just as disgusting when it comes from WHITE GOP candidates as I do when it comes from Obama.

Lets look at this realistically; if these men weren’t running for the office of President, if Barack Hussein Obama wasn’t attempting to remain President, this would just be another sad non-issue except perhaps on a local basis.

If it weren’t an election cycle and these men weren’t pandering, Trayvon Martin would just be another statistic, another young Black man that met a violent death, and there would be very few people not in the immediate area or related to him that would give a DAMN!

Now, Trayvon Martin is the *flavor of the month* and his death is being used by their staffs to highlight the *human* side of the candidates!

Al Sharpton and the NAACP are all up in the air, beating their chests and screaming about Trayvon’s death being motivated by race, and racial hatred. I have to say, this may be the very 1st time I have ever agreed with Al Sharpton or the NAACP on anything, even if I do suspect their motive.

All I know is what I have read in the news, but so far I have seen a lot of print used to describe George Zimmerman as a White Hispanic. I know NOTHING of Zimmerman and his inner feelings regarding race and racial hatred, so, I am still going to tread very lightly regarding this being *racially motivated*.

All I know is this; what appears to have been a fine young man is now dead.

Was Trayvon confronted by Zimmerman? Did he strike Zimmerman? Did Trayvon feel threatened BY Zimmerman and thus, was Trayvon merely defending himself?

Was Trayvon *standing his ground*?

That’s what most men would do when confronted in a threatening manner. That is exactly what I would have done if I was confronted by a WANNABE cop.

It WILL be interesting to see how this plays out, I hope Trayvon’s death brings some degree of justice, for HIM if he was in the right, and to Zimmerman if, by chance, he was right.

I am not saying this to denigrate Trayvon Martin in ANY way, but suppose he (Trayvon) had been a WHITE kid. Would we see or hear any national outrage or outrage from the candidates and the President himself?

Why is there no outrage regarding this story?

Teens set kid on fire for being ‘white boy’

A 13-year-old boy who police say was doused with gasoline and lit on fire last week while walking home from school is recovering from first-degree burns to his face and head.

The boy was just two blocks from his home in Kansas City Tuesday when two teenagers began to follow him and then attacked him, his mother, Melissa Coon, said.

Police have described the suspects as black 16-year-olds, while the victim is white.

“We were told it’s a hate crime,” Coon told KTLA. SOURCE

Some suffer from selective outrage I guess.

EDIT TO ADD: The picture I have of Trayvon Martin is now rumored to be 5 years old and depicts him as he looked at age 12. There are other pics surfacing now that show a person said to be Trayvon Martin at age 17, flashing GANG signs, calling himself a *Made Nigga* and belonging to some street gang.

There is a hell of a lot more to this story than meets the eye. I still have my suspicions of George Zimmerman and his intentions, but the recent pics of Martin also cause a lot of conflict to be added to an already highly inflamed situation.

Fred-The Examiner has a good write up on this.

Zimmerman was on the ground being punched when he shot Trayvon Martin

What the media is not reporting is that Tayvon was 6’2″ football player. Not what the old picture portrays.

Also there is some very interesting witness statements.

***The witness reports that George Zimmerman was on the ground and Trayvon is on top of him punching him.

***The witness says that George Zimmerman was screaming and yelling for help.

***Police arrive and find Zimmerman bleeding on his face and the back of his head. He also has had grass stains on his back. All this confirms the story told by Zimmerman and the witness.

***Police play the 911 tape for Trayvon Martin’s father, who tells police that the voice screaming is not the voice of his son.

There is more in the article about this. While we will never know the full story. The Left see this as Christmas morning.

I don’t know if you are aware but The Examiner is NOT a news source, it is a well syndicated and very large group of individual writers. They have no better sources than I do and I place little credence in their stories, the ones they break as some kind of exclusive..

I don’t care how big Trayvon was, he was being followed by, and possibly confronted by some WANNABE cop that has been in a some of legal trouble himself…

Let the news play out, as you see in MY commentary, I laid NO blame on anyone…

And I may have gotten shot, but if that asshole had challenged ME, I would have been pounding on his WANNABE, no authority ass too…

    • BobF says:

Some good points but we know from the 911 tapes that Zimmerman was following the kid and was told to back off…he didn’t.

In Missouri we have Castle Doctrine Laws which incorporate a Stand Your Ground wording. But, our laws specifically state if you cause the confrontation, then you’re at fault and will be charged. The moment the police told Zimmerman to back off and quit following the kid and he didn’t, he would then become the aggressor and the initiator of the confrontation.

  2. BobF says:

Fred, on that Kansas City incident, the American Thinker has a good story on it. There have been many incidents in that school of blacks attacking and molesting white students which were encouraged by some teachers.

  3. Right Handed Cowboy says:

Well all Obuma did today was as usual pick a side, all he should do is make a statement not pick a side and make it a racial incident as he did. Like you said, all Obuma did was pander, but he is good at that.

  4. Texasperated says:

Some may recall that when Nixon “weighed in” on the guilt of Charles Manson during that very famous murder trial, the judge nearly declared a mistrial because it is so difficult for a juror to “disagree with the president.” Things change.

Oh, and the picture we’ve all seen of Zimmerman is obviously a mug shot.

    Keep your powder dry

    • TexasFred says:

It is indeed a mug shot, Zimmerman was a *self appointed* Neighborhood Watch Captain, he had been in at least a couple of dust ups with the Police…

The SOB had a gun, and I have yet to hear ANYTHING about him having a CHL, I doubt he did, he’s too much of a loser…

  5. Always On Watch says:

Fred, you’re spot on with your analysis of this event’s being politicized because it is an election year.

  6. BobF says:

What this country needs now is a real leader. Someone to call for calm and to say they are monitoring the situation and will ensure a proper and thorough investigation will take place. What we don’t need is a community organizer to fan the flames of hatred and distrust.

  7. justmemilo says:

I’ll wait until all the facts (true, hopefully) come out before making up my mind. One thing I know for certain… that shooter looks just like Sonny and Cher’s offspring *thingy*, whatever his or her name is.

  8. extex_cop says:

I’ll hold off on judging Zimmerman…but he sure looks guilty to me from the early actions he took.

Here in Fort Worth, TX we have a watch program called ‘ Code Blue’. It trains the civilians as to what to look for and what to do when they see things….and none of it involves them in using weapons of any kind ( non lethal or lethal ). He should never been carrying…and he should NEVER have confronted the asuspect. That would be left for the ‘Real Police-officer.

Now on to Obama’s comment… ‘If I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon’

That is one of the most stupid and off topics thingI have ever heard anyone say after the death of anyone. Surely he could have stated this was a needless loss no matter whose fault it turns out to be. What does it have to do about who or what he looks like???

  9. sdkar says:

One fact that NEEDS to be pointed out is the photo of Trayvon being shoved in our faces is one of him 5 years ago when he was 12. How about using a current photo. There are plenty of them out there where he is dressed up in a hoodie and some show him flashing gang signs and describing himself as a “made nigga” (His Words).

Here is a link I found showing the current Trayvon Martin. So it’s not like a recent photo doesn’t exist or can’t be found.

Facts of Trayvon Martin Investigation (Part 2) - Political Forum

Of course, the liberal agenda loses traction when the whole world sees what Trayvon really looked like. How many people would love to run into the current Trayvon in their neighborhood on a dark and rainy night? How many people would not be slightly alarmed at seeing him walking through their yard lloking like he was casing the place?

My point is, show Trayvon as he looks now, not his cute little baby pictures. Show the world what it was that Zimmerman ran into when he confronted Trayvon. I’m not saying Zimmerman was right or wrong…but the facts need to be presented properly.

    • TexasFred says:

It HAS been pointed out, in a very OBVIOUS edit here on this blog…

I guess you missed it, making all of these incredibly L O N G comments must have distracted you from the story…

Fred…sorry for the L O N G comments. Sometimes I get a little too passionate about the subject and have a lot to say about it. I can only say that your subject matter is triggering something deep down and really getting me thinking and I have so much on want to say about the topic. I will try in the future to say a little less. I can only say that it is better to get your readers to think and respond than to have them simply read the topic then forget about it and move on…with no comments about it.
