Tyson drops Labor Day holiday for Eid al-Fitr

August 2nd, 2008 . by TexasFred

Workers at Tyson Foods’ poultry processing plant in Shelbyville will no longer have a paid day off on Labor Day, but will instead take the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Fitr in the fall.

A recent press release from the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union (RWDSU) stated that a new contract at the Shelbyville facility “implements a new holiday to accommodate the … Muslim workers at the plant.”

The RWDSU stated that “the five-year contract creates an additional paid holiday, Iidal Fitil, a Muslim holiday that occurs toward the end of Ramadan.”

Eid al-Fitr falls on Oct. 1 this year.

Tyson’s Director of Media Relations, Gary Mickelson, stated that while the new contract does not provide an additional holiday, as the union claimed, “the new contract includes eight paid holidays, which is the same number provided in the old contract.”

Well, this one doesn’t really need too much commentary from me. I will NEVER knowingly buy a piece of Tyson chicken again, or any other product they make.

The *giving in* to Islam that many of us have predicted has begun, what do YOU intend on doing to combat this act? The Islamification of America? And our children aren’t allowed to pray at school but Tyson builds *prayer rooms* for these people so that they can pray twice a day?

A bit Texas Hat Tip to Pat Houseworth at prh…a day in the life… for sending this to me, I heard it yesterday but it got lost in the shuffle.

And here’s the list so far: A List of Tyson Foods Products, courtesy of those wonderful beer drinking, bog dwelling racists and rednecks at Say No To Politically Correct B.S.

If anyone can find a list of any other products Tyson Foods manufactures under other labels, store brands and so forth, please send me the link so I can add it to this story.

This Union, which endorses Obama, says: …”the five-year contract creates an additional paid holiday,…

Tyson denies this. It’s just a simple hi-jacking of an American holiday.

Nothing more than *The Islamification of America*, and an Obama supporting union is all for it??

Do WE need any more reason to be against it??

    I think not…

To me, the larger overarching question is this: you never, NEVER saw any of these actions PRIOR to 9/11/2001. Why, NOW, are we seeing these things? We waited for 3,000 of our fellow countrymen and women to die? We knew we could be hit by Islam so now we’re caving and cowering, trying to “accommodate”? Why ONLY after 9/11 are we witnessing reactions like this?

I always liked Foster Farms better.

A boycott of Tyson would be in order. Labor Day is a Federal Holiday, mandated by Federal Law. Eid al-Fitr or whatever you want to call it, is a religious holiday. Mandated by a pedophile.

    A big difference.

Katies last blog post..What to re-name it?

Yep..I don’t eat a lot of yard bird as it is and I’ll be damn sure to boycott Tyson now. If they want to observe a raghead holiday they should be processing goats instead of chickens

Any American working for this company needs to get up, come Monday morning, and walk out, plain and simple.

Let Tyson have the Muslims pack their pork products for them.

How long before our police unions demand this?

Ranando, absolutely right, this is only a ripple in what is sure to become tsunami…

Keep spreading the word Fred…this is one of many American Companies that have fallen slaves to Islam and Illegals…I plan on it.

I cannot believe any union could be this stupid. I have been a blue collar worker all of my life and have belonged to unions whenever I could and I have seen them do some pretty dumb things but this takes the rotten chicken.

I have already avoided buying Tyson for years, ever since the filthly working conditions of their Arkansas plant was exposed; now I simply won’t buy Tyson period.

An estimated 750 to 1,000 Somali refugees are living in Emporia, a magnet because of jobs at the Tyson Foods meatpacking plant. Many have latent tuberculosis.

BobF, I just read that article myself earlier and was shocked. Is this country so hard up for workers that a company needs to stoop to this…

    Well, that’s just wrong.

Tyson won’t get any money from me or mine.

What I don’t understand is allowing a religious holiday, not recognized by our government, to take the place of a holiday that covers everyone in the US.

Heck, any other religion would have to take a day off if their holiday didn’t fall on one previously approved, this is just dumb.

Our country and its constitution has been flipped on its head. We are no longer a country ruled by majority but instead a country ruled by minority.
If you are a minority you have far greater rights then I.

Constantly I hear the screams about Christmas and Easter. Yet, nobody seems to be screaming about this.

Too bad we have to put an American company out of business. It is sad to see Americans falling to this level.

    No More Tyson Products.

Companies give Easter and Christmas because they know no one will come in those days. Some stores do stay open, but pay extra for working those days.

This is just pandering to Muslims. What next? Allowing them a salary even though they won’t handle pork?

I wrote about this too Fred, and it’s an understatement to say it’s a damn disgrace, and we true Americans need to shut this sh**hole down for the count since they mostly employ Muslims anyway.

I’m infuriated by this and I wrote the president of the company along with the Union with comments that can be seen at my blog.

“Our country and its constitution has been flipped on its head.”- ablur

I’m put off by Tyson’s decision as well, though clearly not as much as others here.

But, ablur, I’m curious. How does this violate the constitution? Seems to me that companies are free to make their own policies and we are free to buy or boycott as we see fit.

The only recent constitutional atrocities I’m aware of have taken place over the past 8 years and have been perpetrated by our own duly-elected government which, unfortunately, can’t exactly be boycotted.

Boycott the hell out of Tyson if you want, but I don’t see how their own policies “flip the constitution on its head.”

Just my two pesos, I look forward to reading yours.

It seems to me that Tyson is free to decide what they want to do with their holidays, but they are not free to choose the consequences of their decision. Boycott?? Well I think so.

Tennessean here, too. I just e-mailed everyone in my address book about this. And Tyson is now alongside Citgo on my boycott list.

Anyone know if any fast food restaurants use Tyson? If so, I’ll have to expand my list.

“Our country and its constitution has been flipped on its head.”

Well, I honestly don’t see how this is an dissolution of the Constitution… Ablur, can ya give some example on that??

It IS a crock of crap in my opinion but it’s business, their business, and WE, as CONSUMERS, have a way of making our feelings known, hit em where it REALLY hurts, get this message out to every email in America, I sent it to MY list.

Post the story on your blog, even if you only have a few readers, a few readers KNOW people and can send it out on their email list and post it on their blogs…

Flipped the Constitution?? I don’t think so… Insulted many America 1st folks?? Oh HELL YEAH!!

Our Constitution was designed as a tool of democracy where the voting majority determines the direction and decision of this nation. This nation as a majority is Christian. According to poles 86% of Americans Identify themselves as Christian. Yet, this country has nearly abolished all aspects of Christianity. We have now, through the constant preaching of globalism and multiculturalism, find minority groups being embraced and lifted up here in America.

The very fact that a company of this size would succumb to the whims of a minority and toss aside something that has been a standard for a long time amazes me. It shows the slippery slop effect. The majority is losing their nation.

  28. comment number 28 by: TexasFred

ablur, I’ve known you for a real long time and I have never said this before but dude, I gotta call BS on that… I still don’t see where the Constitution was toppled…

This is business, albeit BAD business, not government… We’re talking a bunch of union hacks that see the dollars they can scam off of the Somalis, it’s THAT simple, and Tyson succumbed to the UNION, simply because if some UNION crook yells STRIKE Tyson is screwed…

The constitution and religion is NOT the problem nor the threat…

And WE can all boycott the bastards and put em out of business, just like the UNION can kill em with labor problems, if only it were that easy with government.

    Well said, Fred.

Ablur, here’s a quote for you: “”Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There was never a democracy yet that did not commit suicide.”

See if you can guess whether it came from Barack Obama or John Adams.

If you answered Adams, the 2nd President of these United States, you are correct. And the reason he said it is because the U.S. is not a “direct democracy” where simply the majority wins. In fact, the founding fathers were scared to death of the mere premise of the majority always calling the shots. That model always ends in Tyranny. The U.S. is a representative republic. There is a HUGE difference.

“Does our pledge of allegiance to the flag say to ‘the democracy for which it stands,’ or does it say to ‘the republic for which it stands’? Or do we sing ‘The Battle Hymn of the Democracy’ or ‘The Battle Hymn of the Republic’?” - from the below reference to Walter Williams.

Here’s an article by the great Walter WIlliams explaining the difference and filled with quotes from the founding fathers. By the way he is a long-time guest host and good friend of Rush Limbaugh…lest you assume I’m injecting any dreaded liberal ideology into the discussion. :)

Sorry if I got off topic. Boycott Tyson and take them off your Xmas card lists, but know that the constitution is intact and, if anything, stronger because Tyson is permitted to make their own business decisions.

    Cheers,

I guess I didn’t do a good job of clearing up my point.

Muslim has become the protected class. Its popularity for what ever reason has made it worthy of making changes in every area of society. Religous desires and requests by any other religon is challanged in court, ridiculed and beated with the words “Seperation Of Church and State”.
Yet, the Muslim religon is embraced. No one attacks it in the courts or points to their special status, as public funds are used to meet their every whim.

Tyson foods has simply demonstrated this fact in a business decision. They are only reacting to the direction our country is hurling at an incredible rate. We the people as voters and buyers can change this but the will seems broken. The freedoms we once had by our constitution are being changed or maybe finally being properly utilized but only by the protected class, Muslims.

Equality is what makes our nation unique. The representative republic is designed to promote and create equality. Perhaps you see equality in religon here in the US. I do not.

Perhaps you see equality in religon here in the US. I do not.

I personally detest Islam and ALL Muslims, but until such time as WE, The People make it against the laws of the U.S. then they are as entitled to practice their evil cult as the folks at 1st Baptist or any other church…

The Tyson thing has NOTHING to do with religion for crying out loud, it’s BUSINESS bowing to the pressure of the UNION, a UNION that is going to rape the Somali workers of their money…
