New welfare restrictions target booze, tattoos

BOSTON (AP) - Taking aim at what they call an abuse of the taxpayers’ money, a growing number of states are blocking welfare recipients from spending their benefits on booze, cigarettes, lottery tickets, casino gambling, tattoos and strippers.

“If you’re not abusing the program, then you should really have no problem with these reforms,” said state Rep. Shaunna O’Connell, a Republican pushing for restrictions in Massachusetts.

While the crackdown has strong populist appeal in Democratic and GOP states alike in this era of tight budgets and tea party demands for fiscal discipline, advocates for the poor argue that the restrictions are based on stereotypes about people on welfare, and they say the notion of any widespread abuse is a myth. Most people on public assistance, they contend, are single mothers struggling just to get by.

If booze, tattoos and other nefarious items weren’t being bought and paid for, would the next paragraph even make sense?

The movement has been spurred in part by Congress. Under legislation signed by President Barack Obama in February to extend a payroll tax cut and unemployment benefits, welfare recipients are barred from using their cash assistance in strip clubs, casinos and liquor stores. States must change their own laws to conform by 2014.

The screed about most people on public assistance being single mothers struggling just to get by is another one of those *semantics* things, it’s all in the interpretation.

There really ARE single mothers, some actually ARE struggling to get by, but then there is that certain crowd that considers giving birth to as many babies as possible to be a rather lucrative profession and want YOU and ME to pay for it.

Angel Adams (pictured above), mother of 15 children (twelve live with her) with three different fathers, was living in a single room motel after having been evicted from her home for failure to pay. Local social services groups have reportedly attempted to provide her with assistance, but Adams tells a different story, claiming that once her fiance (father of 10 of the children) was arrested, everything went downhill, leaving her with no way to pay for food or shelter. Now, she’s taking aim – she’s not sure at who – but someone needs to take responsibility: “Somebody needs to pay for all my children and my – for all my suffering. Somebody needs to be held accountable, and they need to pay.” SOURCE

Why in the HELL should anyone other than Angel Adams be held accountable? Why should WE, you and me, the American taxpayer, have to pay for Angel Adams not having any self control and quite possibly, the morals of an alley cat?

Maybe if there weren’t people like Angel Adams, and others like her, human slugs that perpetuate the stereotype of the average *welfare mother*, maybe that stereotype wouldn’t exist.

Maybe if Katrina refugees had spent their money wisely, and used it for food, clothing, a roof over their heads, and whatever else goes into surviving a disaster of that magnitude, as opposed to spending their federal windfall on jewelry (Bling), dope, booze, hookers, Caddies and the like, maybe that welfare scam stereotype wouldn’t exist.

The government doled out as much as $1.4 billion in bogus assistance to victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, getting hoodwinked to pay for season football tickets, a tropical vacation and even a divorce lawyer, congressional investigators have found.

The GAO concluded that as much as 16 percent of the billions of dollars in FEMA help to individuals after the two hurricanes was unwarranted. SOURCE

The author of the above piece is, in my opinion, a flaming Libber and claims these fraud reports are fake. He believes that Katrina refugees actually needed MORE money!

Thousands DEMAND their welfare check, their federal subsidies, their free medical care, free housing and education for their welfare babies, all the while refusing to take a drug test BEFORE they receive a penny, and to take that drug test every month, you know, just to keep them honest.

This type of person reminds of those that claim it’s RACIST to demand an ID card from a person before they are allowed to vote, they claim voter ID laws disenfranchise them and their ilk. Yes, I said ILK!

The only thing missing from this welfare *pity party* is Al $harpton and Je$$ie Jack$on demanding reparations for slavery that no one alive today had ANY part of.

Whatever the worse thing you’ve ever heard about welfare, imagine that the reality is even worse. The whole damn program should be razed.

  2. mrchuck says:

Denigrate, denigrate, this word comes from negroes.
Yes, the negroes denigrate EVERYTHING they come in contact with.
15 cherren, and probably does not understand yet that her boyfriend’s semen deposited in her vagina is what starts the process!!!
Stupid negress, what do you expect?
Where do we put our foot down and say, “this bullshit is NOW OVER NOW. NO MORE!!!

Ya know, I have to agree with you, there is one hell of a stupidity level at work here… There has to be…

It’s not ignorance, ignorance can be overcome, stupidity is terminal!

Can you imagine the riot the day we get rid of Welfare? While there are some people who cannot work and needs assistance, most people are like Angel Adams. Make her get off her ass and get a job or 3. Make her good-for-nothing family babysit for her. Make that poor excuse of a man who fathered her children pay for their support. Angel Adams and her ilk are the problem. Removal of all benefits IS the solution!

  4. NativeSon says:

I refuse to use the term “Angel” in reference to the negress Adams…That being said I agree with Katie, Bob Mack, et.al., in that the welfare system has BEEN trashed and therefore, needs to BE trashed (as in DONE AWAY WITH!!!). Let’s throw it out and build a new one. One in which a person must meet several qualifications to qualify AND it is only available for a specific (relatively short) period of time before one must jump out of the nest and learn to fly. (One of those qualifications is, if you get pregnant a 2nd time while on the program-you are kicked out)… With a limited (and even more stringent set of requirements) should one need to return to the nest because of life’s circumstances down the road…

I KNOW, I KNOW I AM DREAMING, ND I’M A RACIST FOR EVEN SAYING THESE THINGS ( I also KNOW there is a large percentage of non-negroes on the welfare rolls-so I am an equal opportunity “racist.” You see, I don’t care if you’re a “whigger” or a “n-er” just do right!
    That’s all…

    • TexasFred says:

Some may call it racist, but they would be the ones that are on welfare I am sure…

Angel? Like an angel from heaven?

Oh crap, guess I have been in Texas and spent too much time on the border, I thought it was An-Hell… 😛

  5. Patrick Sperry says:

Someone needed to give her an aspirin years ago, and have her hold it tightly between her knees…
Blame the rest of the world while taking no responsibility, or realizing any personal accountability whatsoever… But wait, those are (philosophical) Libertarian positions on life.

    • TexasFred says:

I had someone on Facebook send me a message asking me if this story wasn’t “too harsh”..

Actually, it wasn’t HARSH at all… It could have been, but some folks think telling it like it is, and speaking your mind, is “too harsh”..
