11 Reasons Why ISIS Might Be More Dangerous Than al-Qaeda

American Freedom EagleHere is another of those wonderful posts provided to me via email by a good friend and neighbor, Capt. Ron. Thank you for sending it Ron!

11 Reasons Why ISIS Might Be More Dangerous Than al-Qaeda

ISIS is not just the terror group de jour. They are a hugely successful movement with an apocalyptic, nihilistic philosophy. When they say “convert, join us, or die”, they not only mean it, but they follow through with horrific effect.

But let’s look deeper. What else makes them such a real security threat, to Iraq, to the region, to the world, and to the U.S.? Here are 11 reasons:

1. ISIS is more media sophisticated than al-Qaeda and excels in using social media as a tool of terrorism. The group’s twitter and YouTube postings in English show that the West is often their target audience.

2. ISIS is flush with cash. ISIS’ territorial control allows for consistent stream of funding, and they’ve developed an extensive extortion racket, as well as selling electricity and exporting oil and gas.

3. Because of ISIS rise to prominence, many al-Qaeda-linked groups are now pledging allegiance to al-Baghdadi’s ISIS, including elements of al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM), Ansar al-Dine (Tunisia) Boko Haram, and al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), giving ISIS access to a global network of terrorists.

4. ISIS controls territory the size of Maryland in the heart of the Arab world, which is important for a predominantly Arab revolutionary terrorist group. The al-Qaeda core group along the Afghanistan/Pakistan border controls no territory and is dependent on Afghan and Pakistani Islamist militants who act as hosts.

5. ISIS has evolved into a proto-state, with its own army, civil administration, judiciary and a sophisticated propaganda operation. Al-Qaeda core leaders are fugitives who are forced to live a clandestine existence under the constant threat of drone strikes or commando assaults.

6. ISIS is the most heavily-armed Islamist extremist group in history, having captured huge amounts of military weapons and equipment in Iraq and Syria.

7. ISIS is out-recruiting Al-Qaeda. It is estimated that 80 percent of the foreign militants that flock to Syria join ISIS, rather than al-Qaeda’s franchise, the Al-Nusra Front. ISIS appears to have success with recruitment of Westerners as well.

8. The leader of ISIS, who goes by the nom de guerre of Abu-Bakr al-Baghdadi, is a charismatic leader who claims descent from the Prophet Mohammed. This will help recruit young, impressionable Muslims. He has much more personal appeal for young Muslim militants than Al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri, a dour and didactic theoretician.

9. ISIS is better placed to not only attract recruits from the Middle East, North Africa, Europe and the United States, but get them into the fight. It is much easier to travel across the dissolving borders of Iraq and Syria than it is to travel to Pakistan or Afghanistan.

10. ISIS has declared the rebirth of the Caliphate and the leader of ISIS has proclaimed himself to be Caliph Ibrahim.

11. ISIS is the richest terrorist group in history. It looted at least five banks in Iraq, including Mosul’s central bank, which yielded more than $400 million dollars in gold and Iraqi currency. It controls oil fields in Syria and Iraq that generate income and it has pocketed millions of dollars in ransoms for hostages.

In summary, ISIS is an army, not just a terror group. ISIS is the biggest terror group ever. ISIS is actually established as a state, a caliphate at that, and it’s richer than al-Qaeda. It holds more territory than al-Qaeda, it’s drawing more recruits than al-Qaeda, and it’s more brutal than al-Qaeda.

This group must be forcefully addressed and stopped.

On a personal note; to those of you not living in states that are gun friendly, if the ship hits the sand and ISIS, or whatever name they be operating under DO break loose and make attacks on American soil, your particular state may declare martial law and attempt to disarm you.

Anyone that attempts to disarm the American people in a time of war is the enemy of the people and cannot be allowed to remain in power.

Thank GOD I am in Texas where no such BS will happen and thank GOD I am in Rowlett where our City Leaders and Police Chief and his Officers have made it crystal clear, they will NOT engage in any such nonsense because they KNOW that folks like me and most of my readers will be right there, standing shoulder to shoulder WITH them in defense of this nation, this state and our town.

Supposedly, at the onset of WWII Japanese Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto is credited with saying, “You cannot invade the mainland United States. There would be a rifle behind every blade of grass.”

Those words are still true today.

  1. Capt Ron says:

Thank you, Fred, I’m just doing my part to keep people aware of reality. There are real enemies, they aren’t all in the shadows, and they usually say what they are going to do before they do it. Hitler did, and no one listened. We need to learn from history.

  2. Bunkerville says:

We have a heavy load coming our way. Thanks for a great post.

  3. BobF says:

All this took place right under Obama’s nose in a very short period of time. Obama did nothing to stop them.

One thing ISIS does lack is air power and high tech weaponry. With their money they will be able to purchase the high tech weaponry and the technical assistance to maintain it but not when it comes to air power. I believe these guys are a bigger threat than the Soviet Union ever was. The Soviets was a nation and had a lot at stake. ISIS has no nation and therefore nothing to loose. To them, loosing their lives in battle is to immediately gain heaven and their virgins in an eternal orgy. To them, they have nothing to loose and everything to gain and that’s dangerous.

  4. Bloviating Zeppelin says:

Plus, a number of Somalis have been recruited for ISIS from Michigan. Imagine that.

Roughly 2.3 million Muslims living in America:
29% of Muslims in America are between ages18-29:
25% of Muslims 18-29 living in America believe in radical Islam

      2,300,000 Muslims living in America
667,000 Muslims are between the ages of 18-29
166,750 Muslims in America between ages 18-29 believe in radical Islam.

  5. Wayne says:

For the life of me I don’t understand why nobody is making the connection between islam and the Nazis. The brotherhood joined with Hitler during WWII and participated in the “final solution”. The koran is the instruction book being followed literally by these inbred savages. There is no peace in islam until everyone is under shaia law, which includes dimmi (protected second class citizens) and slaves. All the bs about being able to coexist with these animals is just that, BULL SHIT. Call them the islamic state, alkida, hamas, hesbola, whatever, they all want the same thing……..SUBMISSION……. and we need to be armed, as Fred says, and be ready to stand WITH our LEO’s.

  6. Lewis Burwell says:

ISIS is islam’s manifestation realized. Islam has made not secret of its goal, which is to convert or kill all non-muslims. Muslims only deny this when the spotlight is on them. ISIS is islam’s wet dream come true: a well funded, well armed, well connected, politically backed (even in this nation) organization.

We are indeed facing a real threat that could engulf the entire globe. The fact that so many of us, in what’s left of America, are well armed might be our only saving grace.

  7. Abigail says:

Reason 12: The President of the United States has just announced to the world he has no strategy for dealing with this threat. So basically he is clueless about what to do.
    How reassuring.

    • TexasFred says:

I am still convinced that Obama is a brainless *tool* of Islam, the most presentable POS they could find, someone that can read a teleprompter and share the words he is told to speak…

Of course there is no strategy, to have one would mean that ISIS would have to make plans against themselves and the day they do that is the day we know the opposite of what they plan to do…

Lies, deception and deflection, that’s all Obama has and all he’s capable of… I don’t believe he came up with any of this on his own, he hasn’t got the mental ability..

      • Abigail says:

So far I’ve read that at least 3 Americans have died fighting for isis. I read that British moslems are signing up to fight for the Caliphate.
What will happen when this well funded and organized army finally turns its attention to waging war in America? Will it find plenty of homegrown converts willing to die in its cause inside American borders? With the dissatisfaction in the black community it may find fertile recruiting grounds for converts. And then what?
Our government, instead of trying to disarm the citizens, should be encouraging them to get training and become proficient in the use of firearms.

        • Wayne says:

What amazes me is the press are calling these animals “Americans”. REALLY?

          • Abigail says:

Excellent point. IIRC, taking an oath of allegiance and/or taking up arms for a foreign government means loss of citizenship. It should be made know any American going to fight for any foreign entity will automatically lose citizenship status and any and all rights, immediately revoke their passports.
