Decision ‘08 has been made

November 5th, 2008 . by TexasFred

Electoral Votes: Barack Obama: 338, John McCain: 162 as of this AM, there are still conflicting numbers, but rest assured, Obama cleaned McCains clock.

History has surely been made with this election, I hope it’s not the final chapter for America, now, how do I say this and NOT offend a few friends in the process??

I don’t know if there is any way to NOT offend actually, I have NEVER been a PC person and I am damn sure not about to start now, politics needs hard truth, not PCness.

It’s over. McCain has lost, by a VERY wide margin, and as I said on numerous occasions, I was fully expecting this. He carried Texas and a good portion of the South, but he couldn’t even begin to win in the states that have the majority of electoral votes, liberal voters and disenfranchised moderates and Repubs.

My vote for Bob Barr was MY vote, it wasn’t a wasted vote, NO vote for a candidate that’s ON the ballot is a wasted vote. Let’s face it, all the votes cast for 3rd party candidates, all of them put together wouldn’t have made one bit of difference in this election, Obama, and his Obamanation have taken this one by storm.

I did NOT support McCain, I never liked him, I never trusted him, I never wanted him to be the POTUS and for the very brief period of time that I had a logo up on this blog for him it was because I was bowing to peer pressure, and that is something I just don’t do. I am my own man, regardless of the consequences, and I voted MY conscience, that old BULLSHIT about a vote for anyone other than McCain was just that, pure, 100% BULLSHIT, the numbers don’t lie.

For the last 2 years I have tried to tell everyone that would listen to me, McCain was NOT the one to take on and beat Obama, and I was correct. At this point in time, I actually don’t believe there was a Republican in the race, right from the start, that could have beat Obama anyway, and like it or not, you have no one to thank for that other than George W. Bush.

Many on the left fell for the *CHANGE* mantra, and it was surely a mantra, many just didn’t like McCain and saw him as a continuation of the Bush presidency, many just hate Bush and Company so much that they would have voted for Satan himself to keep a Republican out of the Oval Office.

We, the Conservatives of this nation, have a HUGE task ahead of us, we have Senate races to win back, we have Congress to win back, and that’s the mid-term fight we have to focus on at this particular time. I personally believe that after 2 years of a Democratic controlled Congress, there will be a serious swing in control of the House, and I don’t care if it’s Republican or not, as long as it’s CONSERVATIVE.

It appears that Texas will retain John Cornyn (R)(Socialist) as the junior Senator from Texas until Kay Bailey Hutchison (R)(Socialist) steps down to come home and run for Governor in 2 years, I am hoping she has to resign her Senate seat to do so, she IS talking retirement as well, and if so, we’ll be working very hard here in Texas to KEEP her socialist, wetback loving ass retired.

It also appears that my favorite Congressman, Mr. Sam Johnson, Texas 3rd, is going to hold his seat, that is GREAT news, Mr. Sam didn’t vote FOR the Wall Street bailout as many others did, including both of our U.S. Senators from Texas.

I did get one very shocking surprise on election night, the race for Dallas County Sheriff. The incumbent, Lupe Valdez, a Hispanic, a VERY Liberal Dem, an avowed lesbian and without question the worst Sheriff that Dallas County has had in any recent times, was re-elected by predominantly Democratic Dallas County. By a very big margin too, by Dems, Libbers and Hispanics. Oh well, you get what you elect, morale is already very low on the Dallas County Sheriffs Office, I am guessing that it just went a lot lower.

To all of my readers I say this, the Dems have carried the day, the Republicans never had a chance as a party, and that is because there was a tremendous amount of defection from the ranks, but lets face facts, the Republican party is only a shadow of what it once was, in the Reagan days for instance. Mainstream Republicans are, basically, nothing more than Dem Lite today.

The future of this nation is NOT in the hands of Dems OR Repubs, it rests on the shoulders of the CONSERVATIVES of this nation, and if this nation is to continue to survive, WE, the CONSERVATIVES, must regain control of the House of Representatives before there is nothing left worth saving.

The battle for 2010 begins today, the battle for 2012 begins today as well, and it begins right here and right now. I am an Independent Conservative, I hope that many of you will take up that same mantle, and wear that name proudly. It’s time for a viable 3rd party candidacy in America, one that can offer a real challenge to our antiquated 2 party system, a 3rd party candidacy that can WIN! And it can happen, but it won’t happen with dissent and negative thinking, we either stand together or we ALL go down together.

It’s YOUR choice…

My sentiments exactly, Fred. This public was also failed by the media. They didn’t do the job they were supposed to - and that is - keep the public informed. I think this job now falls on we conservative bloggers to pick up where they failed - and do what they won’t do - inform the public. Help bring the public back around to conservatism and keep them informed of the true conservative politicians. All this assuming the Fairness Doctrine doesn’t get rammed through with an addition to stifle Internet bloggers as well.

    Good one.

Bobo, I am completely disgusted with the media, ALL of it…

As returns were coming in last night they were having to fight very hard just to keep from cheering, and they could NOT contain the almost orgasmic excitement in their voices…

The MEDIA, the MSM, is nothing more than a tool of the DNC…

Much work ahead as a lifetime of damage has been done electing a true marxist in a different costume. This is victory for the defeat of American power for good around the word protecting the weak from evil. Evil is upon us and 49% couldn’t and 51% wouldn’t stop it last night. Pretty sad.

Well, lets roll up our sleeves, and get to work is all that I can say.

My sleeves are rolled up Patrick. As a member of the loyal opposition, let me state clearly I will oppose this man at every un-American turn he takes. I will call BS Every time he opens his mouth with the same kind of socialist pap he used during the primary and the campaign. America, being America, is down, not out and the only good thing is that Obama will be a one term president.

Well said Fred. I don’t begrudge your Barr vote at all! For years I was a registered Libertarian. My Mom actually ran for Lieutenant Govenor of Alaska on the Libertarian ticket and at one point my father held the highest office of *any* Libertarian nationally. So I was teethed on it! At one time I hoped that would become the third party that you say we need.

I hope you are right that we end up with simply a “failed one-term presidency” a la Jimmy Carter. No doubt that Obama is walking into a horrible mess. And those two rich guys that Obama was going to tax to pay for all his new programs moved out of the country so there is no way he can come close to delivering on most of his promises. Let’s hope this is another one of those periods where we don’t get all the government that we pay for!

I also don’t know who we elected last night. Obama is just a pretty face that can read a teleprompter well. He was selected and groomed for this. The Chicago Machine certainly acted as muscle for the campaign ["Of course I'm the Messiah. The dead rose to vote again!" :-)] … but I don’t yet know who the ultimate puppeteer is yet. And that scares me worse than Obama’s socialism (and I don’t scare easily!)

I was on a chatline at GoSarahPalin as the concession speeches were being given. As I noted, I was the only one in the group who had anything positive out of the election: at least we get our Governor back! [And despite the toxic media who was clearly marching in lockstep to tar and feather her, she has a real future on the national stage. Everyone wants to be the next Ronald Reagan. Sarah Palin may be it. The press denounced Reagan as a low-intellect lightweight his first couple of runs at the presidency also.]

And yes, Fred - she’s hot :-) Thanks for the comment.

    Keep up the good work!

The GOP as we know it is dead…and good riddence. It’s time for Conservatives to take back the party, or to leave and start anew. I know starting over might take longer than some of us old farts will be around…but we can no longer work with the Washington DC elite, like Rudy, GW, and McCain….they are not us.

Sarah Palin and those like her are where we need to start over…..true Conservatives, both Social and Fiscal NEEDED FOR A NEW DIRECTION!

Well, at least Prop 8 passed, so somebody’s panties got bunched.

  9. comment number 9 by: cary - Botan Ichihara

105, here in AZ, also passed.

Other than that, it is indeed time to get working.

Well Fred I think we are in for a hell of fight WITH IN OUR OWN PARTY. to find one candidate that WE all can back. NONE of us could agree on one guy (except for Tancredo, Hunter and Thompson in the beginning…1 of those DID vote for the bailout, the other would have. Hunter didn’t so he has a leg up IMO.

The other thing we have to get passed in the future is the “He did this, so he is out” mentality.. Sometimes you have to give a little to get a lot down the road in Politics. I think we need to set some CLEAR LINES as conservatives that give a CLEAR message that says “You raise taxes, vote for amnesty, go after guns, support abortion rights, and spend like a drunken sailor, You are unemployed” Other than that we can discuss it. IMO.

I’m not upset McCain Lost, I am upset that Obama won. If conservatives with principal would have come out and voted we would see it in the votes. I can’t see real conservatives voting for BO.
BO’s campaign was about all the things that America isn’t.

We all better start writing letters and getting our representatives in line. This is going to be a rough couple of years.

  12. comment number 12 by: Longstreet

I didn’t vote for McCain. I wrote in Palin for President.
Is anyone hearing any rumors that Palin may appoint herself to fill the soon to be open senate seat from Alaska? That would get her onto the national scene almost immediately. Just curious.

One final thought: We gotta have our own party.

    Best regards! JDL

Palin appoints Palin to the Senate, WOW… That would give her the *seasoning* I know she so seriously needs!!

  14. comment number 14 by: Ken Freeman

It’s a dark time for all true Christian conservatives. Mccain and the Republicans are less than worthless. The only bright spot in this election fiasco has been Sarah Palin.
We need to stay firm and get behind her with every inch of our support. The media and her own party are trying to discredit her regarding trivialities (wardrobe, etc). Does anyone care about her clothes? They can take all her clothes and we’ll be even bigger than ever for her.

I’m still in depression over Tuesday’s fiasco. Our country is screwed for the next 4 years.
