Dorothy Bland: My assumptions may have been wrong but fears were real

There are some very serious racial issues threatening the United States, racists abound, but the truth of the matter is this; those racists are made up of people from ALL walks of life, all shapes, sizes and colors.

Dorothy Bland: My assumptions may have been wrong but fears were real

Dorothy BlandAlmost two weeks after Dorothy Bland’s “walking while black” column on dallasnews.com turned her into a social media focus in America’s ongoing arguments about racism, she’d like people to know a few things:

• She was absolutely not speaking in that column for the University of North Texas, where she is the dean of the Frank W. and Sue Mayborn School of Journalism and the director for the Frank W. Mayborn Graduate Institute of Journalism.
• She has “a deep respect for law enforcement officers and understand that they have a very difficult job.”
• She thinks that “some of my assumptions may have been wrong and I regret that.”
• But, she says, “I can tell you that my fears were real that day” that she wrote about in the column.

The column was about a confrontation she had with two police officers while she was walking in her Corinth neighborhood. Minutes after the incident, she posted about it on Facebook. A few days later, she sent her column to The Dallas Morning News. It said, in part: SOURCE

Some folks may not have heard of this story as it was happening but for the folks living in the DFW area it was BLASTED all over the news; a Black educator claimed she was racially profiled, stopped and questioned because she was *Walking while Black*.

And then the Dash Cam video was released on YouTube.

Dorothy Bland’s 15 minutes of racial activism are over and she was shown to be the racist fool and liar that she really is. It has blown up in her face as she, and many other like her, seek to play The Race Card and portray themselves as a victim.

I know, personally KNOW, and am friends with some very nice, decent and hard working Black people. They are professionals, they work in many fields, engineering, education and public service and Law Enforcement just to name a few, and they are all Conservatives that have worked hard to reach their level of success and station in life.

None of them are entitlement slugs or affirmative action leeches on life, they are not the kind of people that express faux outrage and play The Race Card every time something doesn’t go quite the way they want it to. They accept the cards life deals and they, like millions of other hard working Americans, strive to do even better as they attempt to get an even bigger piece of the pie for themselves and their families.

Unlike Dorothy Bland they don’t tell lies and make unfounded accusations.

So, tell me, just WHO is the racist here? You can decide that one for yourselves.

The woman is a bold face liar. She wanted her fame in the spotlight and was proven to be nothing but scum.

My blog post about Dorothy Bland, http://www.onecitizenspeaking.com/2015/10/dorothy-bland-i-was-caught-lying-while-black-texas-journalism-dean-should-be-fired-for-creating-a-false-and-divisive-narr.html, generated a number of comments that labeled me a racist.

And, that is the nub of their power — the power to silence their critics by alleging racism. I pointed out that it was not racist to point out lying, fraud, deception, and malpractice. There is no doubt she lied, committed a fraud upon the people with a deception, and was and is guilty of journalistic malpractice as she simply did not tell the truth.

Keep speaking out. Being a minority does not convey any special privilege when it comes to lying in a public forum. Enough with the race card and elevating incompetent people to positions of power based on color, not competence.

Every time I get called a racist I just write another race based post, after a while the bastards will get the idea; I don’t give a damn what they call me, I will write what I want, when I want and use any language I choose to use… Yeah, even Ebonics and the *N* word… :)

Great response Steve. Just read your account and agree. Some form of discipline should apply. How about a free front page apology to the officers involved. She should have gotten a citation for jay walking.

Just watched the dash cam video and am scratching my head. This woman is the head of a department? There are sidewalks on either side of the road. WTF is she doing walking in the street? Basic traffic safety, I remember from grammar school, always walk against oncoming traffic. Your’e right Fred. I have black friends and have worked with many a black mechanical engineer in my life and they don’t exhibit the attitude of the so called academic mind. There are too many people playing the victim anymore. Just look at the mess they are creating on the college campus nowadays.

    “WOW”…
    Texas Fred;
Thanks for showing everyone what a sham this poor excuse for a human being, this lady is. Unfortunately, Us as Police Officers have to deal with crap on a daily basis.
