Sotomayor defends her legal record

WASHINGTON — Judge Sonia Sotomayor insisted Tuesday under pointed questioning that her ethnicity and gender will not influence her decisions if she is confirmed as the Supreme Court’s first Hispanic justice.

Republicans, led by Sen. Jeff Sessions of Alabama, repeatedly pressed Sotomayor on the second day of confirmation hearings about her previous statements that “a wise Latina woman” could reach better decisions than white male colleagues.

“I want to state up front unequivocally and without doubt, I do not believe any ethnic, racial or gender group has an advantage in sound judging,” Sotomayor told the Senate Judiciary Committee members. She called the “wise Latina” comment “a rhetorical flourish that fell flat.”

In nearly seven hours of questioning — with more set for Wednesday — Sotomayor said she respects the Supreme Court’s decision that the Second Amendment grants individuals the right to own firearms. She also said she considers “settled law” the court’s 2007 decision upholding a federal ban on the procedure critics call “partial birth” abortion.

Sotomayor is a racist, a sexist, an anti Second Amendment, pro abortion, Liberal automaton that toes the Liberal line perfectly.

The RINO Senators sitting in on this confirmation CIRCUS didn’t DARE question her too vigorously for fear of being labeled racist themselves. And for fear of offending N.O.W., Code Pink and a legion of ILLEGALS that could potentially become voters in the next election.

The U.S. Senate is nothing more than a liberal sewer, one that needs to be pumped OUT and ALL Senators replaced, Dem AND Republican. In MY opinion, we don’t have too much of a division of PARTY in the Senate, we suffer idiots that are Democrats and idiots that are better defined as Dem Lite.

Maybe the next time we elect Senators we can make an effort to find some Senators that actually possess a *set*, leaders that will place COUNTRY, and WE, THE PEOPLE, before their own jobs, wants, greed and desires.

WASHINGTON (AP) - Sen. Tom Coburn evoked a 1950s TV show Wednesday in a quip responding to Sonia Sotomayor’s scenario about what he might do if she - hypothetically, of course - attacked him.

“You’ll have a lot of ‘splainin’ to do,” Coburn said, to laughter from the crowd and Sotomayor. What he said - and how he said it - was a riff on a Hispanic television character, Ricky Ricardo, whose accent is now widely considered a broad parody.

Senator Ricky Ricardo? Coburn evokes Lucy show

Yeah, I know, Coburn is going to be labeled a racist for that one, what with the loony libber left having that selective outrage thing I have spoken of in the past, but here’s the deal. There’s going to be a lot of Senators that have some splainin’ to do if Sotomayor is seated on the U.S. Supreme Court, and that ‘splainin’ had better be really good because their political careers are at stake here.

I have been labeled a racist over the last couple of years, by a couple of idiots that recently made the supposed swing from being hard core libs to their self described rebirth as neocons, and I am sure that my opposition to Sotomayor will only serve to reinforce their beliefs that I’m a racist, but I have to wonder how they would explain this?

In the last election I supported Rick Noriega for U.S. Senator in an effort to unseat John Cornyn. I guess these guys are smart enough to realize that Noriega is NOT an Anglo name, and Noriega is a Democrat as well. But after talking TO Rick Noriega, I felt that he was a lot more Conservative than the RINO Sen. John Cornyn.

I am a strong supporter of Michael Williams for U.S. Senate. Michael is going to run for the seat held by Texas Senator Kay bailey Hutchison if she retires from the Senate to come home and take a run at the Texas Governors mansion.

Now not that it really matters, but, Michael Williams is as black as it gets. Michael Williams is also one of the greatest Texans it has ever been MY pleasure to be associated with. Even if Hutchison doesn’t retire from the Senate, I hope he will STILL run and oppose that RINO poser and send her into full retirement.

I have had personal, written correspondence with Michael Williams, and I asked him some HARD questions regarding his stance on nearly every topic I could think of. He answered honestly and held nothing back. I sincerely wish we had a Senate FULL of gentlemen just like Michael Williams, men with the courage to stand and speak the truth and ask ALL the right questions.

WASHINGTON - Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor declined repeatedly at Senate confirmation hearings Wednesday to disclose her views on abortion rights, and said President Barack Obama never asked her about the issue before he chose her for the bench.

“I can’t answer … because I can’t look at it in the abstract,” she told Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., as he sought to draw her out with questions about hypothetical cases.

Sotomayor: Obama didn’t ask about abortion

And here we go once again. The sheer hypocrisy of liberalism trumps the religious teaching of the Catholic Church and hog ties Sotomayor in her ability to speak either for or against abortion, this from a supposed practicing Catholic.

If she is unable to look at the issue of abortion in the abstract, how is she going to view any other topic that will present itself to the SCOTUS? All court cases are presented in the abstract, it’s up to the attorneys presenting the case to clarify from abstraction to reality and then the Justices interpret the LAW as it applies to a particular topic and render their decision in regards TO that particular case.

An inability to see things in the abstract would certainly be a dis-qualifier if the decision were up to me. I hope that the Conservatives in the Senate can see this as such. We know the Dems and RINOs won’t.

Conservatives did the right thing a while back when we vehemently opposed Harriet Miers, but the reason that nomination failed was, Conservatives AND Libbers opposed Miers. In this case, Sotomayor is the darling of the libber left. The Obamessiah has anointed her. She is the chosen one of the chosen one and coronation is all but a done deal I am afraid.

Ladies and Gentlemen, race, gender and questions of sexual orientation have NOTHING to do with my opposition to Sonia Sotomayor. My love of America, and American freedom has EVERYTHING to do with my opposition to her.

American freedom is about to suffer a potential death blow I fear.

I don’t think anyone has the right to question her, she is, afterall, a wise latino woman.

  2. extex_cop says:

Hey… notoriouslyconservative…watch what you say. Latino with an ‘O’ is masculine or male…while it should be Latina with an ‘A’ for feminine or female. Although she is as ugly as a mud fence…she is still female….wise or otherwise. As we all know she is going to talk the talk and dance the dance until she gets everyone to believe that she will be a good honest judge…then BAM !!! She sucker punches everyone that stands before her that is not of the same background.

  3. Longstreet says:

You’re right, Fred. Sotomayor on the SCOTUS IS a done deal. I continue to ask myself the question… if the Dems/Socialists have taken America THIS low in only six months time… what is America going to look like by election day next year??? The logical answer infuriates me AND scares the hell out of me at the same time!

    JDL

Latino/Latina… Here’s the thing, I’m not sure exactly what IT is…

It touts itself as female, it dresses as a female, but that voice is more MALE than MANY male voices I have heard…

Personally, I think there needs to be a medical exam conducted…

    Nuts check time…

  5. Kate says:

Is there a rule that Dems of the female persuasion have to be butt ugly? I mean seriously….I’ve been wracking my brain trying to come up with one reasonably attractive Dem in the public arena, and I’m stumped. Watched a tiny smidge of the hearings yesterday, and all I could think….”good heavens, that is one extremely homely woman”!

  6. extex_cop says:

Yep…I too have noticed that those Dem gals are pretty damn ugly…and you know something???…it appears some of those RINO gals are starting to follow suit. Look at KBH.
Sotomayor looks so bad…she makes Hillary look like a Beauty Queen…well maybe not!!

  7. Robin in Texas says:

    Texas Fred,
Read the reply you received from Sen. H. I got the same letter. I have told her in many e-mails how I can’t wait to vote her OUT. If she votes yes for SoSo this will just be one more item on her anti-resume.
Keep up the good work Fred, we need more like you.

  8. Patrick Sperry says:

    Short arm inspection? LMAO!
Here’s the real problem with this. She, as in Sotomayor, cannot be voted out. Hell? We’re stuck with her forever as is already.

Term limits for Federal Judges anyone?

Adding overt overturns of the Constitution and / or Bill of Rights to the list of crimes described as treason anyone..?

This has got me to thinking. Hell, I might even do one of my rare thoughtful, if not entertaining posts this weekend.
