Mexico, US set protocol on weapons cooperation

MEXICO CITY (AP) - Mexico and the United States have agreed on a protocol for sharing information in arms trafficking cases.

Top officials of both countries say the guidelines are aimed at helping them bring more cases against weapons traffickers.

Mexican Attorney General Eduardo Medina-Mora made the announcement Monday at a joint news conference with John T. Morton, the assistant secretary of homeland security for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Mexican authorities say much of the country’s drug cartel violence is fueled by weapons smuggled in from the United States.

Last year, about 90 percent of the weapons Mexican authorities submitted to U.S. authorities for investigation could be traced back to the United States.

OK, it’s time to put this overblown BS to rest. And BS is exactly what it is. Proven BS, spewed by the anti-gun cabal, the MSM as a whole, the libber left and the minions of Barack Hussein Obama, particularly Hillary Clinton and Eric Holder. So, here we go, one more time.

There’s just one problem with the 90 percent “statistic” and it’s a big one:

It’s just not true.

In fact, it’s not even close. The fact is, only 17 percent of guns found at Mexican crime scenes have been traced to the U.S.

What’s true, an ATF spokeswoman told FOXNews.com, in a clarification of the statistic used by her own agency’s assistant director, “is that over 90 percent of the traced firearms originate from the U.S.” SOURCE

Those are the facts of the matter. The story goes on to outline, in great detail, the wrongs that this 90% BS entails.

Here’s a few more FACTS for you while I am on the subject.

Mexico is a nation out of control. Their government is totally corrupt. Their law enforcement, ALL of it, is highly suspect of being totally corrupt.

MORELIA, Mexico (AP) - Twelve people tortured and killed in a cartel-plagued Mexican state were federal agents investigating organized crime, the government said Tuesday, marking one of the boldest attacks on federal forces since President Felipe Calderon launched his war on drugs.

Mexico identifies 12 slain as federal agents

Mexico has suffered, make no mistake about it. Since Calderon took office in December 2006, more than 11,000 people have been killed in drug violence. There appears to be no end in sight. Troops are killed. Police and Fedrales are killed. The drug cartels troops are well trained, well paid, well armed and quite willing to murder ANY that stand in their way. Mexican troops and police either run in fear of the drug cartels or they defect TO those cartels.

In neighboring Coahuila state, four police officers in the border city of Piedras Negras were kidnapped hours after the police chief was pulled from his patrol car, Piedras Negras’ Public Safety Director Jose Castillo said Tuesday.

Gunmen kidnapped Piedras Negras Police Chief Rogelio Ramos on Monday morning.

For those not knowing, Piedras Negras is the town just across the border from Eagle Pass, TX. That’s our back yard folks. For those that don’t live in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona or Southern California, this is getting way too close to home, and it’s only a matter of time until full blown gun battles break out on the streets of U.S. cities.

And it won’t be U.S. citizens that instigate these battles. And it likely won’t be battles fought with legally purchased weapons, or those so-called 90% weapons. Do you know where the weapons will come from? As the article says, ‘They don’t come from El Paso’.

So, if not from the U.S., where do they come from? There are a variety of sources:

- The Black Market. Mexico is a virtual arms bazaar, with fragmentation grenades from South Korea, AK-47s from China, and shoulder-fired rocket launchers from Spain, Israel and former Soviet bloc manufacturers.

- Russian crime organizations. Interpol says Russian Mafia groups such as Poldolskaya and Moscow-based Solntsevskaya are actively trafficking drugs and arms in Mexico.

- South America. During the late 1990s, the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) established a clandestine arms smuggling and drug trafficking partnership with the Tijuana cartel, according to the Federal Research Division report from the Library of Congress.

- Asia. According to a 2006 Amnesty International Report, China has provided arms to countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America. Chinese assault weapons and Korean explosives have been recovered in Mexico.

- The Mexican Army. More than 150,000 soldiers deserted in the last six years, according to Mexican Congressman Robert Badillo. Many took their weapons with them, including the standard issue M-16 assault rifle made in Belgium.

- Guatemala. U.S. intelligence agencies say traffickers move immigrants, stolen cars, guns and drugs, including most of America’s cocaine, along the porous Mexican-Guatemalan border. On March 27, La Hora, a Guatemalan newspaper, reported that police seized 500 grenades and a load of AK-47s on the border. Police say the cache was transported by a Mexican drug cartel operating out of Ixcan, a border town.
SOURCE

Yet the MSM, the Mexican government and even our own U.S. government continue to insist that the 90% BS is real, and spreads these lies regarding the origin of the guns used in drug violence and acts of outright anarchy in Mexico.

The 90% load of crap has been totally, thoroughly and completely debunked but the drug war in Mexico, and all along the U.S. border rages on. And our border WITH Mexico, for the most part, is still as wide open as can be.

Can anyone justify that? Can anyone tell us WHY that border is still ignored by the U.S. president? And not just the current president, Obama is only the latest in a long line of U.S. presidents that has pretty much ignored the border.

What in the hell is it going to take to wake this nation and our government up and get them to shut down the U.S.-Mexican border? A massacre in downtown El Paso or Brownsville maybe? Is San Diego out of the question? NO U.S. border city is out of the question.

And our pandering politicos will bear FULL responsibility when, yes, I said WHEN, not if, WHEN this massacre occurs on U.S. soil!

It is amazing how far off track our country has gone. What is even
better is Obama wants to send unarmed, volunteer, National Guards to the border to help. Is it just me or is this man sitting in
the White House just trying to downsize this country? I have friends over seas fighting to keep our freedom and our leader wants to chum up to people like Zelaya. I just wanted to say I am from Maryland, but have family in Texas. I love this site, it helps me to keep up with Texas! You are doing a great job keeping us informed. God Bless!!!

Border ignored? Why? DEMORATS VOTES and REPUBLICAN WORKERS.

And YES, it WILL take a massacre.

America is on the veritable THRESHOLD of chaos on just about every issue involving just about every factor of which I can think.

The storm is rising, the earthquake is occurring, and the tsunami is building. Few are watching for it. Most ALL will be SHOCKED, SHOCKED I tell you, when it hits.

It is so damned frustrating that these people still spout that 90% number even though we now know that it is an outright lie. They will continue to spout this lie and people will believe it and they will use this Mexican drug problem as the reason to implement gun control laws. They must be stopped!
