Words of Caution and Restraint for the TEA Party

OK folks, this is a Twofer Tuesday here at the home of TexasFred, you will be getting two TEA Party posts for the price of one! It doesn’t get any better than that. All the TEA Party News from around the nation, rolled into one post!

Foes of tea party movement to infiltrate rallies

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - Opponents of the fiscally conservative tea party movement say they plan to infiltrate and dismantle the political group by trying to make its members appear to be racist, homophobic and moronic.

Jason Levin, creator of Crash The Tea Party!, said Monday the group has 65 leaders in major cities across the country who are trying to recruit members to infiltrate tea party events for April 15 - tax filing day, when tea party groups across the country are planning to gather and protest high taxes.

“Every time we have someone on camera saying that Barack Obama isn’t an American citizen, we want someone sitting next to him saying, ‘That’s right, he’s an alien from outer space!'” Levin said.

Tea party members said the backlash comes from ignorance.

“They can’t actually debate our message and that’s their problem,” said Bob MacGuffie, a Connecticut organizer for Right Principles, a tea party group that also has members in New York and New Jersey.

The tea party movement generally unites on the fiscally conservative principles of small government, lower taxes and less spending. Beyond that the ideology of the people involved tends to vary dramatically.

A word of advice to ALL TEA Party members, don’t fall into their trap. Civility, sanity and patriotism! That’s the action needed to counteract those that would use the words of a few less than stellar TEA Party people against the group as a whole!

Okla. tea parties and lawmakers envision militia

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Frustrated by recent political setbacks, tea party leaders and some conservative members of the Oklahoma Legislature say they would like to create a new volunteer militia to help defend against what they believe are improper federal infringements on state sovereignty.

Tea party movement leaders say they’ve discussed the idea with several supportive lawmakers and hope to get legislation next year to recognize a new volunteer force. They say the unit would not resemble militia groups that have been raided for allegedly plotting attacks on law enforcement officers.

“Is it scary? It sure is,” said tea party leader Al Gerhart of Oklahoma City, who heads an umbrella group of tea party factions called the Oklahoma Constitutional Alliance. “But when do the states stop rolling over for the federal government?”

Thus far, the discussions have been exploratory. Even the proponents say they don’t know how an armed force would be organized nor how a state-based militia could block federal mandates. Critics also asserted that the force could inflame extremism, and that the National Guard already provides for the state’s military needs.

“Have they heard of the Oklahoma City bombing?” said Joseph Thai, a constitutional law professor at the University of Oklahoma. The state observes the 15th anniversary of the anti-government attack on Monday. Such actions could “throw fuel in the fire of radicals,” he said.

On the first item, as the PGR does with the WBC nuts… turn your back on the slugs, sing the National Anthem, and let the LEO’s handle em! They are trained professionals and any interaction between them and libber insurgents doesn’t reflect on the movement. Ignoring them is the best course of action!

On the second item… I can’t wait to hear more. I do believe that anything beyond raising our voices against tyranny in our government hurts the tea party movement. It will be interesting to see as it unfolds.

  2. TexasFred says:

    PGR & WBC??

I am not good with acronyms that are out of the mainstream…

PRCA, NASCAR, NRA, TEA, I know those, but the 2 you mentioned, I haven’t got a clue…

  3. Kate says:

Patriot Guard Riders and Westboro Baptist Church?

  4. HoosierArmyMom says:

Yep Kate. The nutbags in Kansas that protest at the funerals of KIAs and the Patriot Guard Riders who stand between them and the grieving families. I learned a lot from my association there. The WBC nuts are mostly family members and many of them are lawyers. They deliberately antagonize in hopes of someone striking out so they can sue them. That is how they make money and support their worthless selves! We cannot stop libbers from coming to the rallies, but we CAN control their misbehavior by ignoring them, turning our backs to them if need be and pointing them out to the LEOs if need be. That’s my plan. I’ve seen it work over and over at KIA Funerals. Imagine trying to control Vets when nutbags are screaming and holding up signs that say “Thank God for Dead Soldiers”… Just turn your back, hold Old Glory higher, sign the Battle Hymn of the Republic… whatever it takes to protect the grieving family. It can work to protect the honor of the Tea Party movement as well.

  5. HoosierArmyMom says:

Fred, I put last years post up at my place, but the main thing for folks to see is this: You can remove this if it’s too much for comments, but I think they are most helpful.

    “The Rules of Engagement”

    RULES FOR A PEACEFUL PROTEST
    1. NO STICKS ON SIGNS (Statehouse Grounds rule for Indiana)

    2. No violence, no racism, no law-breaking – It is a good idea if someone in the crowd is breaking this rule and making a scene, to ask them with a LEO (law enforcement officer) close by, to leave since they aren’t sending the message intended by the group with the permit. If they refuse, turn them over to the LEO and step aside. Do Not… engage in any altercation or debate. If you have a hand held, voice activated tape recorder or camcorder with your group, taking it would be a good idea.

    3. Absolutely no obscene words or gestures – Once again… do not engage this person in anyway. No debate, no altercations or any debate that may give them an opening to start something. Just request they leave and get a LEO in on the request. Obey the civilized rules and know that the permit is only for those who obey the rules and mission for the Tea Party protests. Record all outrageous conduct and stand back and let Law Enforcement do their job.

    4. Treat Law Enforcement Officers with respect – Always, in everything you do, they are there to serve and protect. Period.

    5. Do not block sidewalks and streets with your bodies or signs.

    6. Avoid conflicts and any physical contact with any opponents. Our 1st Amendment Rights are their rights, too. We may not like it, but this is a fact. Our military has bled and died to preserve this right for all. We can’t afford to dishonor the fallen and those who have sacrificed by not keeping this in mind. Once again… if someone is suspect, let the LEO’s handle it and record, record, record.

    7. Take the high road….be CIVIL at all times. – This is the most important rule to keep in mind. The Bible, whether you are a Christian or not, states that ”we are basically known by how we behave” and it is true! How we conduct ourselves, how we react, is how people will know we are citizens wanting our voice heard and what gives our message the sincerity and honesty to be taken seriously. Remember, abiding by peaceful rules, depending on law enforcement to do their job, and being ready to “record” what the mainstream media WON’T, if necessary, is our best defense and the best way to keep our peaceful protests effective. As Glenn Beck says… We Surround THEM!

Good words then and good words now!

  7. Bluebonnet Sue says:

I’m with you about the acronyms, Fred. I had no idea what LEO meant so I looked it up. Take your pick. For purposes here and based on the word “Law”, I will choose… ummmm……Number FOUR! 🙂

Key: Opponents Of The Fiscally Conservative Tea Party Movement, Tea Party Activities, Tea Party-ers, Keep a Cool Head. 🙂

  8. HoosierArmyMom says:

Sorry folks… LEO = Law Enforcement Officer.

  9. Bluebonnet Sue says:

HoosierArmyMom - Excellent post-Rules of Engagement. I hope there will be a lot of TEA Party folks who will have their cameras handy and will record any incidents that might happen.

  10. HoosierArmyMom says:

I’m getting batteries for my hand held tape recorder for the event. My friend is taking her camcorder and I’ll have my disk player with me with the National Anthem in it in case I need to drown out a potty mouthed libber. The Girl Scout motto applies even though I’m certainly NO GIRL SCOUT! LOL!!!!

  11. Robert says:

This could get real ugly. And personally I’m ok with it. What the strategy should be:
IF there are those liberpukes that dare to try that garbage, I would suggest that a surround the clown strategy be invoked. Surround them so no video footage can be taken of them getting their ass curb stomped and when the idiot is lying in his own blood disperse and let them film the aftermath…and remember “You aint seen nothin….

I know that’s asking a bit much, but damn it we are almost to the point of civil war in this nation. And if the liberpukes want to mess with peaceful protests of law abiding, tax paying citizens, perhaps a “Rethink” that strategy lesson may be in order….

I also know that’s what the MSM and liberpuke orgs. are hoping for, but if there is no video did it ever happen? Mmmm…

We will be at the RIVERSIDE event. I will be wearing a red shirt that says “Support the troops” blue jeans and a nice pair of real tree boots in camo pattern. I’m 6ft 2, 225, please come see me.

  12. BobF says:

The MSM will do all it can to make the Tea Party folks look bad. They’ll most likely already know who the Democrat plants are and will film and interview them.

  13. Kate says:

Went out and bought myself one of those itty bitty flip video things. We’ve never had any trouble at the Nashville events, but things are getting ugly, and I have every intention of being as prepared as I can. Now, I just have to go get a bunch of batteries so I’ll be even MORE prepared. 🙂

  14. Always On Watch says:

A word of advice to ALL TEA Party members, don’t fall into their trap. Civility, sanity and patriotism! That’s the action needed to counteract those that would use the words of a few less than stellar TEA Party people against the group as a whole!

    Good and important advice!

  15. HoosierArmyMom says:

Also you can buy one time use video cameras, I know I’ve seen them in Walgreens Drug stores and maybe CVS too.

  16. extex_cop says:

You know Texas already has an all volunteer State Militia…it’s called the Texas Guard….do not confuse this with the Texas National Guard…as it’s a totally different group. The Texas Guardsmen are strickly volunteers that meet one weekend a month…except they do not get paid. They too can be called up by the Governor…usually during natural disasters.

Here is a link for a little more info on them…

  17. Kate says:

Just looked it up….Tennessee has one too.
