How much trouble is America really in?
January 16th, 2008 . by TexasFredEverywhere you turn you see terrible headlines concerning the economy,
Inflation Rate Is Worst in 17 Years and Stocks Set to Plunge on Intel Shortfall and our own infrastructure is falling down around us as experts warn that many bridges in America are unsafe, Agency Cites Faulty Design in Bridge’s Collapse and our health care is falling apart Emergency Rooms In Critical Condition Crime runs rampant in America, Georgia police: 2 officers killed in ambush and things like this Indianapolis Mayor: Killings Were ‘Evil’ and this N.O. murder suspect is now a victim as every day lead stories on the news, print and TV… We’re going broke as a nation but our government is spending BILLIONS trying to unite the middle east and bring peace between the Israelis and the Arabs, we spends many more BILLIONS on a needless war in Iraq, all the while having to go back to Afghanistan and do that one all over again, stay the course, remember that one??Here’s at least part, I think a large part of where our problems lie,
Bush Seeks to Answer Arab Skepticism and Strained ties haunt Bush visit to Egypt as well as this Militants Overrun Pakistan Army Base this Female Suicide Bomber Kills 8 in IraqIt is my opinion that George W. Bush is to blame for at least a large part of, if not all of these maladies, he isn’t doing a blasted thing to help the USA but he’s trying to bring the world together for a great big group hug, maybe a Coke and a smile…
What Bush plans on doing now is making a weak attempt at building himself a legacy that will look decent, as opposed to the one he’s been writing for the last 5 years, the one where he sent our troops into a place we didn’t need to go, Iraq, a place where nearly 4,000 of them have died and countless numbers have been maimed, a place where BILLIONS upon BILLIONS of our tax dollars have been flushed down the drain to prop up a pseudo-leader, a war lord in a suit, al-Maliki, an individual that is, if you can imagine this, even more useless than Bush himself, and to prop up Hamid Karzai, another war lord risen to power, albeit very regional, at least Karzai isn’t a buffoon, he’s just basically powerless…
Iraqi Spending to Rebuild Has Slowed, Report Says and I ask why?? Aren’t we sending enough of our tax dollars over there?? Isn’t there enough to go around between the half hearted projects and lining politicians pockets too?? Iraqi politicians?? Then there’s the U.S. border with Mexico, what’s been done to keep things like this 3 Tijuana Policemen Shot to Death from spilling over to our side?? Where are we going to go, if there’s anything left once Bush is done, where do we go from there?? Clinton?? She was instrumental in the dismantling of our military and Intelligence services while he hubby was the one with the title, we don’t need that again… And Obama?? Please tell me that America, even the Dems, are smarter than that, all the guy can do is talk about ‘change’, no specifics, just ‘change’, and it’s getting very old in a big hurry…None of the Republican candidates are terribly impressive, none of them seem to have a broad, big picture idea, I like Thompsons conservative words, he just needs to fire it up a bit, Hucksterbee is a supporter of amnesty and turned Arkansas into a sanctuary so I don’t have a bit of use for the good reverend, I like Romney’s fiscal statements, he IS a money guy, and we need a MONEY guy, but is he a WAR guy??
Mormons are notorious for being conscientious objectors, that could present a bit of a quandary if we really had to get serious in the war fighting department…
McCain and Giuliani?? Oh please, you might as well vote for Hillary, at least you KNOW what she’s going to do, with RINOs like McCain and Giuliani it’s nothing more than a crap shoot…
America is in trouble my friends, and you ALL know it, maybe we can get the blog world fired up and make very sure the candidates KNOW that we are still here, just like we were here to defeat the
The McCain-Kennedy shamnesty bill… We can do it people, we have the strength, or, we HAD the strength, I have to wonder, are there enough of us that aren’t eat up with apathy to make it actually happen?? Trackback URL:http://texasfred.net/archives/937/trackback/
Fred,
I must respectfully disagree with your blaming the President for all of our current ills. The problems that we as a nation face today have been developing for years. The moral decline which began in the late 50’s is part of it. The rise of relativistic viewpoints rooted in socialism is another source of our problems. The overarching focus on greed and power that fills the halls of Congress and corporate America is also an underlying cause.
Ultimately, we are a divided nation. We are divided by race, by religion, by social and political philosophy, by views on polarizing topics such as abortion, and by economics. We are a self-centered, money-hungry nation that is no longer guided by a set of unifying principles. We are guided by what satisfies our momentary fancy. We are a nation of instant self-gratification. If our President is guilty of anything, it is of not standing by his principles and compromising in areas where he should not have.
That being said, I believe that from the point quoted below to the end of your article, you are right on target — taken to mean that we agree.
“…where do we go from there?? Clinton?? She was instrumental in the dismantling of our military and Intelligence services while he hubby was the one with the title, we don’t need that again…”
The current field of candidates is scarey — more so because they represent all of the things that I outlined above. They DO represent what the U.S. has become and that is what terrifies me.
If we’d all get out of the ME mindset, perhaps we could rally to save this country. If Bush had made better use of that veto pen, maybe…. then again…
So, count me in Fred! I’d say I’ve got your back, but I’m kind of short, and no one would see me.
Fred: You KNOW I agree with most of what you have said here. The vast majority, in fact. The only difference we have, I THINK, is I supported going into Iraq. BUT, and it is a BIG BUT, I think we should have gone in, guns ablazing, removed Saddam and his boys, generally raised hell thru out the country for about a month … and then… left! I do not support “nation Building”. We suck at it.
Everything you have said here, about the candidate, both sides, I agree with. The state of the nation is exactly as you described and I have been concerned over this for a long, long, while now.
I’m all for setting the blogosphere on fire with conservative ire! The Republican Party is all but dead. We can shovel the dirt over it. Conservatives are going to have to find someplace to go, or create their own political party. I know I sound like a broken record on this, but I believe it strongly. The GOP is redefining the party and they are cutting conservatives out… as if they were culling the herd.
This election is lost… no matter who wins… conservatives have lost.
Best regards!
Longstreet
But what fun would that have been? LOL
Being President of the United States is not as difficult as many think, in fact it’s really quite a simple job. It’s an upper management position that all you really have to do is make decisions on a daily bases.
The foundation of the position is also really quite simple; America and its people come first. Every decision based on this one primary objective.
Your adviser comes to you and tells you that The United States has been attacked. Your decisions, find the people that did it make either kill them or bring them to justice.
Your commanders in the military tell you that before they go to war they will need more troops. Your decision, give them more troops.
Your adviser comes to you and tells you that our enemies are crossing our borders and are coming here to kill Americans. Your Decision, seal the border.
Your adviser comes to you and tells you that you need to pick a Secretary of State, a person that can deal with countries that Hate Women. Your Decision, you pick a man.
I could go on and on but I think you get the point.
Simply, you really have to work hard to screw up this position or you have to be a complete idiot.
I really think that if a painting contractor came to George W. Bush and told him it was time to paint The White House, Bush would tell him to wait until he decided on a color.
Yes, we are in deep trouble and I don’t see it getting any better with any of these candidates running for office.
I not only blame Bush for our situation, I also blame the Bush-Bots that follow him so blindly.
I don’t know about Mormons being conscious objectors. I’ve served with quite a few Mormons during my 26 years; both Officers and NCO’s. The man who taught me what it was to be a Senior NCO, the one who groomed me, was not only a Mormon but also the Bishop of their local congregation. Only once did I ever see him put his church duties in the forefront of his military duties. That was when we had a KC-135 crash, killing six crewmen, of which the co-pilot was a member of his congregation. He went to tell the man’s wife and children their husband/father wasn’t ever coming home.
I blame bush for EVERYTHING after 06. HE cost congress and what we are seeing economically is the direct result of a do-nothing congress led by Demorats.
It takes at least a year for new elected officials to actually see what their legislation has done to the nation, the first year of the new congress was basically seeing the old congress policies come to fruition. NOW it’s about what they have done and THAT is the reason Congress’s approval rating is LESS than GWB’s.
Most of your statements are spot on…
I think it’s time WE ALL start looking past Bush and look FORWARD to who is going to have to clean up the mess.
The next President will deal with GWB’s policies and decisions for at least a year, then what ever they do in their first year will resonate for the next 3-5 years.
IF we end up with a Demorat it will be because the GWB led Republicans lost our confidence that they were actually better than the Dems.
Poet, the buck stops there, Bush’s office, if you’re the one driving the train when it derails, you get called the one that crashed the train…
The morals of this nation?? I agree, been coming a while, otherwise, Bush has done a good job of driving a really good economy into the ground and he has taken this nation to the verge of bankruptcy with his debacle in Iraq…
The border is WIDE OPEN, we are under attack, and THAT is the fault of George Bush…
Bush was all week pandering to the world of Islam as he tries to build a legacy…
You may disagree, that’s fine, but the son of a bitch has all but destroyed this nation, and we still have another year for him to get it done…
I do, they were, for the most part, bed pan guys and file clerks, cooks, mechanics and so forth, that was in the USMC, I never knew one that would carry a rifle into combat, EVER…
No offense intended but for the most part you Zoomies weren’t off playing in the mud and jungle and the desert and mountains, you flew your missions and hit the ‘O’ club by 1630…
And that is a great way to fight a war as far as I am concerned, good work if ya can get it…
My neon tetra would make a better president than any one of them running who is viable at this time.
Such a shame Hunter is gone.
“No offense intended but for the most part you Zoomies weren’t off playing in the mud and jungle and the desert and mountains, you flew your missions and hit the ‘O’ club by 1630…”
I hate to say it Fred but you’re right on the money.
Back when I was a young E-4, I went on a quick fix TDY to George AFB, CA to repair a C-141 that was transiting though with Army personnel returning off maneuvers. We worked out of a trailer which was in a large aircraft hangar. In the hangar, sleeping on the concrete were about 200 Army guys. In the hangar with us were the Army Brass; couple Bird Colonels, officers, and a few Senior NCOs’. These guys got cots to sleep on. They were standing there watching myself, another E-4 and an E-5; argue amongst ourselves over which of the better of two hotels in Victorville, CA we were going to spend the night. Would you believe, those guys started referring to us as a certain part of the female anatomy?
Damn Bob… LMAO…
I am going to skip past opinion and point to the key.
We need to stir up America and get this nation back on track. We need to call radio shows, write letters, and speak freely. Our opinion counts and we need it to count big.
The media is doing all they can to tear down and brain wash Americans into becoming the next socialist republic and we need to put the brakes on. We need to bark out an about face and get this nation back in line.
Let’s stop wasting more cyber-space on candidates and start pounding the issues. It really doesn’t matter who the Democins or Republicrats place in office, we need to get the people of the US of A setting the agenda. That must start NOW!
Nice rebuttal Jason, without LINKS it’s about as useful as tits on a boar hog…
When ya start posting the same comment on several blogs, it’s called SPAM…
