Burnout Happens!

February 26th, 2008 . by TexasFred
What the hell, there’s really nothing outstanding to blog about, Bush is still in the White House, we’re still wasting BILLIONS of U.S. tax dollars in Iraq, Darfur is still a debacle, the U.N. is still useless, Hillary and Obama are still going at each other, McCain is still a shit for brains and I am tired of blogging about it, I am taking the day off, screw it, every blogger in the nation is ranting and raving about the same things, over and over and over and quite frankly, I refuse to sound like some shrill bitch that’s got a lot of Hot Air and little else…

Maybe tomorrow I’ll feel more like getting back into the fray but if not, to hell with it, LIFE, real LIFE, does go on and right now it’s calling loudly…

McCain Says He Could Lose Over War Issue

February 25th, 2008 . by TexasFred

ROCKY RIVER, Ohio (AP) - John McCain said Monday that to win the White House he must convince a war-weary country that U.S. policy in Iraq is succeeding. If he can’t, “then I lose. I lose,” the Republican said. He quickly backed off that remark.

“Let me not put it that stark,” the likely GOP nominee told reporters on his campaign bus. “Let me just put it this way: Americans will judge my candidacy first and foremost on how they believe I can lead the county both from our economy and for national security. Obviously, Iraq will play a role in their judgment of my ability to handle national security.”

“If I may, I’d like to retract ‘I’ll lose.’ But I don’t think there’s any doubt that how they judge Iraq will have a direct relation to their judgment of me, my support of the surge,” McCain added. “Clearly, I am tied to it to a large degree.”

The five-year-old Iraq conflict already is emerging as a fault line in the general election, with the Arizona senator calling for the U.S. military to continue its mission while his Democratic opponents urge speedy withdrawal.

McCain Says He Could Lose Over War Issue

Convince a ‘war weary’ America that U.S. policy in Iraq is succeeding?? Gonna be a tough sale on that one Mr. McCain…

The American people ARE ‘war weary’ Mr. McCain, and if the reasons WHY aren’t obvious to you, then you have no more business being POTUS than Clinton or Obama do…

We have been involved in the fighting in Iraq for a longer period of time than we were directly involved in all of WWII, and yes, I DO realize that we’ve had troops in Korea for 50 some odd years, but since the peace agreement in Korea was signed, and the nation divided, our troops have been on a peacekeeping mission, not a combat mission, and that, a combat mission, is exactly what we are still engaged in with Iraq, regardless of how many ‘Mission Accomplished’ banners fly over the decks of carriers…

We spent years in Vietnam and when we left Vietnam, or, should I say, were pulled out of Vietnam by American politicians, the communists did take over, after all the lost lives, over 54,000 American troops dead and only God knows how many South Vietnamese and North Vietnamese killed, after all the time and money that was wasted, we got our asses kicked out of Vietnam and the communist regime of North Vietnam took over, and look at the complexion of the Vietnam debacle today, Vietnam is one of our stronger trading partners…

As a Vietnam veteran, you should know this, you should know what a protracted engagement like Vietnam does to our nation, and that is exactly what Iraq is, Vietnam without the greenery, and other than oil, very little to make them any kind of strong trading partner…

You Mr. McCain, are a lot closer to the Democrats than you are to REAL Republicans and Conservatives, your stance on immigration and amnesty more than prove that accusation, and your views of Iraq and the idea that we may keep troops there for many years into the future are all the reasons I need to tell you to go to hell, right along with Clinton and Obama, your Senatorial buddies…

I simply can’t believe that the American people have allowed themselves to be placed in this position once again, a vote for the lesser of 2 evils is STILL a vote for evil, and while McCain may be a better choice than Clinton or Obama, let me ask you this, what’s worse, to burn to death or drown??

Either way, you’re dead…

Barack Hussein Obama, WRONG for America…

February 25th, 2008 . by TexasFred

Look at Obama, he won’t put his hand over his heart during the playing of the National Anthem or during a recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance…

When he is making public appearances, when he is doing political advertisements or when he is involved in a debate, he WILL NOT wear an American flag pin on his lapel…

Obama claims he loves America, Obama claims he is the one that can and will bring ‘change’ to America but he can’t tell you what that ‘change’ will be, he claims to be ready to lead from Day 1 but he’s not even done with a 1st term in the Senate, what prepares him to lead anything??

This individual is a disgrace to America, the flag and the people of the United States of America and anyone that can support this ‘empty suit’ is as hollow as he is, to the American Dems, ask yourselves, is that the guy you really want in the White House?? A guy that won’t even make a half-hearted attempt at patriotism??

Barack Hussein Obama, WRONG for America…

None of the Above and a viable write in candidate is looking better all the time…

Nader Announces New Bid for White House

February 24th, 2008 . by TexasFred

WASHINGTON (AP) - Ralph Nader said Sunday he will run for president as a third-party candidate, criticizing the top White House contenders as too close to big business and pledging to repeat a bid that will “shift the power from the few to the many.”

Nader, 73, said most people are disenchanted with the Democratic and Republican parties due to a prolonged Iraq war and a shaky economy. The consumer advocate also blamed tax and other corporate-friendly policies under the Bush administration that he said have left many lower- and middle-class people in debt.

“You take that framework of people feeling locked out, shut out, marginalized and disrespected,” he said. “You go from Iraq, to Palestine to Israel, from Enron to Wall Street, from Katrina to the bumbling of the Bush administration, to the complicity of the Democrats in not stopping him on the war, stopping him on the tax cuts.”

“In that context, I have decided to run for president,” Nader told NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

Well, ain’t this just marvelous, the only thing that could make it even more surreal would be for him to name Ron Paul as a VP running mate…

It’s a damned shame that Admiral James Stockdale passed away, he’d make a wonderful foil for Nader, and give him someone to blame yet another failure upon…

How well did Senator Clinton handle the tragedy?

February 23rd, 2008 . by TexasFred

Senator Clinton drew an enthusiastic crowd in Dallas this morning but the tone of her day quickly changed.

The Clinton campaign had to make several last minute changes to adjust to the news.

The theme of Senator Clinton’s campaign is: Ready to lead on day one.

Today, she reacted to events beyond her control and made a series of split decisions.

She started with an impromptu news conference after her rally in Oak Cliff.

“I just want to express my deepest condolences to the family and the Dallas police department and this tragic tragic loss,” she said.

From Dallas, Clinton’s motorcade drove to Fort Worth, as scheduled.

But, by the time she took the stage, she’d decided to cancel the rally.

“Because of this tragedy, I know you understand, we can’t have a rally. It would not be appropriate,” she told fans.

How well did Senator Clinton handle the tragedy?

Yesterday I saw something happen that gave me great pause concerning the way I look at Sen. Hillary Clinton…

Sen. Clinton exhibited more class than I have seen in a long time, which is a lot more than I can say for some of her supporters, her reaction to the death of Sr. Cpl. Victor Lozada was totally compassionate, and I don’t believe it was staged, it was too emotional to be staged, nor do I believe it was in any way a political ploy, Sen. Clinton was obviously quite moved by Lozado’s death and her reactions were, in my opinion, genuine and commendable…

Read the full story and I think you’ll agree, she may not be the best choice for POTUS, she’s surely not MY choice, I haven’t become a Clinton supporter over this one incident, but she truly is a compassionate and caring person, and yesterday, it showed…

Dallas Police Officer, Sr. Cpl. Victor Lozada Killed While Escorting Clinton Motorcade

February 22nd, 2008 . by TexasFred

A Dallas police motorcycle officer was killed Friday morning after a crash while escorting Sen. Hillary Clinton’s motorcade to a campaign rally.

Officer Victor Lozada was reportedly leading Clinton’s procession when his motorcycle slammed into the wall at the Houston St. viaduct, causing him to be thrown 20 feet from his bike.

Lozada was rushed to Methodist Hospital, but later died from his injuries. He was a 20-year veteran of the department, according to police officials. He had been a member of the motorcycle unit for approximately a month.

Hillary Clinton was reportedly not notified about the accident until after she finished her campaign speech Friday morning. She spoke to reporters about the fatal crash soon after.

“I just want to express my deepest condolences to the family and the Dallas police department on this tragic loss,” she told the media.

“This reminds us once again what the men and women in law enforcement do every single day,” Clinton said. “It is important that we respect and appreciate their service. I certainly am grateful for all they do for me and, more importantly, they do for the citizens of cities like Dallas and across the country.”

Police Chief David Kunkle and Mayor Tom Leppert expressed their sadness about Lozada’s death to reporters outside the hospital late Friday morning.
