Russian oil teams up with Exxon Mobil
MOSCOW (AP) - Russia’s state-owned Rosneft teamed up with U.S. company Exxon Mobil on Tuesday in a multibillion deal to develop offshore oil fields in the Russian Arctic - one of the last regions with immense and untapped hydrocarbon deposits - in return for access to resources in the Gulf of Mexico.
Because Rosneft does not have its own technology for deep sea drilling, it was looking for partners to develop the offshore projects in the Arctic and other regions of Russia. A deal it was pursuing with Britain’s BP earlier this year fell through, leaving the path open for ExxonMobil.
The oil giant already has experience drilling in the Arctic regions of Canada.
Rosneft spokesman Rustam Kazharov told The Associated Press that the “strategic partnership” with Exxon was signed in the presence of Prime Minister Vladimir Putin. He was unable to name the plots that Rosneft will work on in the Gulf of Mexico and Texas.

Russian oil teams up with Exxon Mobil
What is wrong with this story?
I’ll tell you what’s wrong with this story; the Russians are making inroads into U.S. oil drilling, via ExxonMobil, that American oil companies should be making but aren’t allowed to because the ridiculously stupid person in the White House, Barack Hussein Obama, won’t let American companies drill, on land or in the Gulf of Mexico or off the east coast of Florida, all because he doesn’t want to upset the delicate eco-balance between himself and Green Peace.
We, the people of the United States, have to import vast amounts of crude from Arab nations, our ENEMIES, so that we can feed our dependence on oil.
ExxonMobil is going to help Russia develop gigantic petroleum reserves on the Russian side or the Arctic, a HUGE area that will be both land based and off shore drilling and production, and here in America we can’t drill for oil in the Arctic National Wildlife Preserve (ANWR) because some Al Gore like figure is afraid the poor polar bears may become dazed and confused.
Exxon Mobil said in a statement that Tuesday’s agreement includes $3.2 billion to be spent on exploring three giant undeveloped oil and gas fields in the Kara Sea - between the northeastern corner of continental Russia and the Arctic archipelago of Novaya Zemlya - in the Arctic as well as a sector in the Black Sea.
The Kara Sea sectors cover some 126,000 square kilometers (50,000 square miles) between 50 to 200 meters (yards) deep and contain some 35.8 billion barrels of oil, Rosneft said. The Black Sea sector covers 11,200 square kilometers (4,300 square miles) between 1,000 and 2,000 meters (yards) deep, it said.
How else can it be said? Oil is power, oil is money, oil is the life blood of a modern economy, and ours is on the verge of collapse because of the gross ineptness of the Obama administration and several previous administrations.
American energy sources are plentiful, not totally unlimited, but plentiful, more than plentiful enough to carry this nation through at least 100 years of oil usage if oil usage were doubled.
Russia’s top energy official said Rosneft, which is 75 percent owned by the Kremlin, will get shares in at least six Exxon Mobil projects in the United States.
The shares “will be in proportion to the ones Exxon will get by working in the Russian projects,” Deputy Prime Minister Igor Sechin told the Interfax news agency. “I’d like to emphasize the exclusiveness of these decisions for Russian companies … that until today were not able to develop existing deposits in the U.S.”
As I said, oil is money and power, so, think about this; the war in Afghanistan, back in the early 1980’s, the one where the Russians got their asses kicked because the CIA was able to supply and train the Mujaheddin with the weapons to make it happen, the war that sent the Soviet Union into bankruptcy, THAT war.
Now, think about this; in the 80’s WE were the big dog on the block, we had money, oil, power, jobs, industry and by God we used it to get things done, and we laughed as the Soviet Union collapsed and a dark Russia emerged.
Today the shoe is on the other foot. For a number of reasons the American people and this nation are bankrupt; the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, overall mismanagement of American business and government, a myriad of other problems, not the least of which being high priced imported Arab oil and a President that refuses to left America produce the oil that we have, and to produce it cheaply, providing Americans with reasonably priced gasoline, oil products and natural gas.
So, as we lose power, and world status, and our credit rating is devalued, the Russians are garnering power and laughing at US for the fools that we have become due to the far less than adequate leaders we have elected.
The area that oil producers want to drill in ANWR is a very tiny portion of the reserve, it is, in the grand scheme of things, minuscule actually, yet the powers that be refuse to let a nation that is starved for jobs, oil and money venture out an take America back to a position of global greatness.
ANWR is not the only *ace* we have in the hole, pardon the pun.
Oil production is a topic I have some knowledge of and is near and dear to my heart, I was raised in the oilfields of Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana.
Oil production is a topic I have written about extensively in the past, here: New report says U.S. has largest fossil fuel reserves in world, here: Ever heard of the Bakken Oil Formation? and here: Obama to call for cut of oil imports by a third, and I reference back to these posts as citation to the fact that we’re not out of oil, we’re out of leaders that have brains.
Somehow I just can’t see a partnership with ExxonMobil that allows ANY Russian companies to drill, under ANY name, on American soil or in American waters. This is, at least to me, just another reason that the American people MUST remove Barack Hussein Obama from power in 2013, otherwise, there won’t be much of an America left to save.
Actually, it would be best if Obama and his entire administration could be removed BEFORE January of 2013, there is a terrible amount of damage that can be done in a very short time by a President that already hates America and knows that he’s on his way out. I am just at odds with myself on how to affect that removal, short of a military coup d’etat or citizen uprising, but the good Lord knows I wouldn’t want anyone to think I would encourage a violent overthrow of a sitting President…
MOSCOW — Police officers armed with assault rifles Wednesday raided the Moscow offices of the British oil giant BP, carrying out a type of ritual armed search of white-collar premises that is common enough here to have a nickname, “masky show.”
The timing of the raid, however, highlighted this peculiar type of Russian risk for another company — ExxonMobil, which just a day earlier agreed to take over the very Arctic exploration deal that fell through for BP.
BP is still involved in a dispute with its Russian partners over that oil-exploration deal; the police search was related to a lawsuit pending in a Siberian court.

Yeah, it’s not they were a guitar manufacturer breaking Indian laws or anything. That only happens in ObAmerica.

Keep your powder dry
Isn’t it ironic, Fred, that Obama could become an instant hero if got his government out of the way of our oil, gas and, coal companies plus force approval of the Keystone pipeline project from Alberta to Houston. There would a half a trillion dollar invested in the short and medium term and hundreds of thousands of new high paying jobs. But he won’t do it. He has other plans for America.
Yeah well, America has other plans for him too!
This whole thing is insanity! We cannot drill in the Gulf, but China is there and we cannot drill in the north and now Russia is goiong to partner with an American company to drill for oil there; this is more proof that the left really isn’t interested in lowering energy costs or ending our dependence on foriegn oil. They are only interested in using our dependence to push their radical global warming agenda.
