NATO, Afghan troops move against Taliban

June 18th, 2008 . by TexasFred

ARGHANDAB, Afghanistan (AP) - Afghan and Canadian forces moved into a series of villages outside of southern Afghanistan’s largest city Wednesday to root out any Taliban militants there, while an explosion elsewhere killed four British soldiers, officials said.

Troops in Arghandab district just outside of Kandahar exchanged fire with militants during “a few minor contacts,” NATO spokesman Mark Laity said.

A top provincial official in Kandahar said gunbattles killed two Afghan troops and 16 Taliban. Ahmed Wali Karzai, the brother of Afghan President Hamid Karzai, also said hundreds of families had fled to the city, and that some of the villages had already been cleared of Taliban.

Helicopters patrolled the skies and smoke rose from fields after exchanges of fire. One helicopter landed in a field near the fighting and appeared to evacuate a casualty. Large Canadian military vehicles and Afghan police trucks were moving through the region.

As I said yesterday, there is some seriously conflicted reporting here, “Recent reports of militant control in the area appear to be unfounded,” SOURCE

Are we engaged in a war of dis-information? If so, that’s a great story because it went on to further say:

A Taliban commander named Mullah Ahmedullah called an Associated Press reporter on Tuesday and said that around 400 Taliban moved into Arghandab from Khakrez, one district to the north. He said some of the militants released in Friday’s prison break had joined the assault.

If you want to feed the Taliban information, I would say the AP and most ALL of the MSM news sources would be your best feed, as it were.

That’s the ting that has always made me wonder just who the MSM was actually pulling for in a war, have you ever noticed? When the Taliban or al-Qaida attack the MSM either has a crew embedded with them or receives video footage from them within minutes of the attack, sort of makes me wonder if the terrorists best friend isn’t OUR media.

And another thing, if the media can find these terrorists and insurgents, if they can gain unfettered access to these cretins, why don’t the MSM reporters drop a hint to NATO or U.S. Command and let them know when, where and what the next move will be? Are they protecting their friends or their sources, or both simultaneously?

Canadian military officials who patrolled through Arghandab over the last day reported “no obvious signs” of insurgent activity. But that didn’t mean there were no Taliban there, a news release said. Pentagon officials said reports of hundreds of Taliban in Arghandab were being overstated.

Let’s define obvious, eh? Since the Taliban is a non-uniformed terrorist insurgency, and they operate in a guerrilla war mode that has no obvious organized plan of attack, no obvious logistical supply and is pretty much never seen until the MSM tapes them setting off an IED, what exactly would be obvious? I would venture a guess that the MSM in Afghanistan could pin point the not so obvious.

We engaged in guerrilla warfare in Vietnam, it was a hard lesson for our rather conventional military mindset to grasp, but towards the end we were getting the hang of it, and the overall opinion was that if we had continued to fight for just a bit longer, we would have OWNED North and South Vietnam.

“What we still don’t understand is why you Americans stopped the bombing of Hanoi. You had us on the ropes. If you had pressed us a little harder, just for another day or two, we were ready to surrender! It was the same at the battles of TET. You defeated us! We knew it, and we thought you knew it. But we were elated to notice your media was definitely helping us. They were causing more disruption in America than we could in the battlefields. We were ready to surrender. You had won!” ~General Giap, North Vietnam~ SOURCE

Some say it’s not true, some say Giap never said it, but it IS a widely quoted paragraph, but it seems that the Generals of Vietnam, our Generals, and their hard learned lessons have been long forgotten, it appears that we’re still not in the right frame of mind when it comes to the vicious combat that WILL be necessary to win this War on Terror, the Islamic insurgency doesnt understand political correctness, all they understand is absolute power and domination, and until we fight them on their level, total domination and NO mercy, we will not win this War on Terror.

And once again it appears that the media, and the bleeding hearts of this nation do more to help the enemy than the enemy does to help himself!

    The MSM lied!  People died!

Oh, wait - that only works against the SITTING powers-that-be.Sorry, my bad.

Anyway - I think it’s time that the military started camouflaging themselves as the MSM - then, the military would be able to infiltrate the terrorists organizations and work from within to bring them down.
