Blog Threatens Arizona Sheriff, Praises Death of Deputy
PHOENIX - Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio says he’s sending deputies to Google’s headquarters in the San Francisco Bay area to serve a search warrant.
Arpaio says he wants to identify the author or authors of an anti-cop blog threatens him and praises the recent death of a deputy — and calls his killer a martyr.
The web site, TargetingCops.Blogspot.com has an image of Deputy William Coleman with the words “Officer Down, LOL” and an image of his suspected killer, Drew Ryan Maras.
Maras is also linked to the murders of a New Hampshire couple near Sedona.
The site has an image of Arpaio with “Wanted, Dead or Alive” with “Alive” crossed out. It also has “You’re next, Joe. Watch your back, b****.”

A BLOG? A Google hosted, FREE Blog? And they have the GALL to threaten Sheriff Joe Arpaio and to denigrate dead and injured officers?
I am all for freedom of speech, and I also believe that blogs can be a legitimate news source and that some bloggers are true journalists.
Then you find a piece of CRAP blog like Targeting Cops and you know immediately that not ALL blogs are credible and some have NO idea of what integrity or human decency is.
I don’t begrudge this cretin his right to free speech, I don’t begrudge him his right to revel in the death of Police Officers, as sick as I believe that to be, it is, after all, a right that he is guaranteed by the First Amendment of the Constitution. I don’t LIKE what this MORON says, not in any way, but he DOES have a right to say it, an unfettered right to express his vile hatred of all Law Enforcement Officers.
What he does NOT have though is a right to threaten the life of an officer of the law, or anyone else for that matter, and that threat, “You’re next, Joe. Watch your back, bitch.” may well be his undoing and the action that gets a HATE BLOG removed from the ‘net.
Some may call this a *veiled reference* in regards to a threat against the life of Sheriff Arpaio, but even a veiled threat against your life is one that you take seriously, and when that threat is made against a person such as Sheriff Arpaio, well, this is where ‘the long arm of the law’ comes into play!
The Sheriff respects First Amendment rights protecting free speech. “But the line is crossed when a person threatens an act of violence against another. We believe the author of this website definitely crossed that line.”
“We don’t know really who the suspect is, that’s why we need the information from Google and I hope they will cooperate as I said on other threats on me we just can’t seem to get the information, but maybe we’ll be successful,” Arpaio adds.
I am NOT a lawyer, I don’t play one on TV and I didn’t stay at a Holiday Inn last night, but I can’t help but believe that Google and Company would be willing to cooperate with a legal search warrant and a reasonable request for information from a law enforcement agency concerning threats of bodily harm and/or the death of Sheriff Arpaio being next.
Posting these words “You’re next, Joe. Watch your back, bitch.” is a REAL threat and presents a clear and present danger to Sheriff Joe Arpaio.
As FOX 10 first reported, it appears a Portland man named Damos Abadon is behind the blog. The Sheriff’s office says that could be an alias.
MCSO investigators say they haven’t received any help from Google in establishing the IP address from which that threat originated.
I have to say, in the past I have posted stories that brought the threat of legal challenges and investigations into my sources, and I have emphatically and categorically denied access to those sources and names, and I will continue to do so, but THIS blog doesn’t make death threats against anyone. THAT is the *deal breaker*. Political opinion is one thing, even scathing opinion, but threats of death are another matter entirely.
There are certain lines that just don’t get crossed. This Damos Abadon, if that is his real name, is a despicable cretin and not worth the time of day, but he has crossed that line.
Give em hell Sheriff Arpaio! Smoke this bastard out and take him down.

I don’t believe death threats are protected speech under the 1st Amendment either, although lots of left-wing scum got away with uttering ’em when it came to George W. Bush. Thankfully, the people that make public threats are rarely the ones for whom you have to watch out. Still, this ‘Damos’ idiot needs to have his toys taken away.
