Obama calls for strengthening gun rules, Reid says no time for debate
As President Obama added his voice to the push for stricter gun regulations in the wake of the Colorado movie theater massacre, the suggestion made a prompt thud on Capitol Hill when the top Senate Democrat said he can’t fit the gun control debate in the schedule.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, asked Thursday about Obama’s remarks on gun control the night before, said the Senate’s packed schedule precludes any action on firearms legislation. Asked if the Senate might debate the issue next year, Reid said, “Nice try.”
The president was vague in what specific measures he’d like to see enacted when he touched on the issue Wednesday evening in a speech to the National Urban League. He affirmed his belief in Americans’ right to own guns, but he singled out assault rifles as better suited for the battlefield.
“I believe the Second Amendment guarantees an individual the right to bear arms,” Obama said. “But I also believe that a lot of gun owners would agree that AK-47s belong in the hands of soldiers, not on the streets of our cities.”

It is felt, by ALL Conservative gun owners, that Barack Hussein Obama is going to try and legislate, by executive order if nothing else, more stringent laws against guns and gun owners.
I personally think Obama is a liar of the 1st order and despises guns and gun owners with every fiber of his being. I believe that his words in the above story are nothing more than *lip service* when he says, “I believe the Second Amendment guarantees an individual the right to bear arms”
I have to say this, I personally am NOT a fan of fully automatic weapons, but that is just me. If you want a fully automatic rifle or machine-gun, and if you are willing to go to all of the trouble it takes to obtain one legally, and to keep it in your possession, and if you can afford the transfer fees and registration fees, by all means, get you an ammo burner.
Me? I’m more of a ‘one shot, one kill’ kind of guy, but again, that’s just me, regardless, I don’t believe one word that comes out of Obama’s mouth and I am convinced that if he wins a 2nd term he will become the most heavy-handed, anti-gun dictator on this planet!
I also have to wonder about this; “AK-47s belong in the hands of soldiers, not on the streets of our cities.”
Is that not a *warning rattle*, a precursor of things to come from the Obama regime? Is that a signal Obama he wants to go after what he and other mentally deficient libbers call assault rifles, and will do so IF there’s not an election on the line?
This next part is the one that scares me the most.

Everyone on the RIGHT knows; Jay Carney is a LIAR! That’s his job, to push the Obama line of BS on America and to try and sound convincing in doing so.

I also believe that Obama is well aware that, at minimum, 75% of ALL Law Enforcement officers, on ALL levels, and another 75% of the military will refuse to obey ANY order to disarm the American citizen.
United Nations troops would have NO compunctions about doing so, thus the full ramifications of a U.N Global Arms Treaty is shown for the DANGER it presents.
Obama and his anti-gun cronies had best pay attention; unless you are willing to go to WAR against at least 150 MILLION American citizens and ¾ of ALL U.S. troops and Law Enforcement Officers, don’t try to take away ANYTHING from the American gun owner!

I guess Fast and Furious is not going fast enough. Now Obama and company wish to use Colorado as their launch board to remove our weapons and make us defenseless.
It won’t work. They tried it with the whore Gifford and it didn’t work then. And it won’t work now.

I could NOT agree more with him. I also believe that every American is a member of the militia and a soldier for America when the time comes and when the situation demands it of them. Because for me, the 2nd Amendment means that if America is attacked by its enemies, foreign or DOMESTIC, that my right to bear arms entitles me to have the ability to defend her. I in essence become a soldier with the duty to protect my country and the 2nd Amendment assures me the proper tools to do my duty.
And as for the statement that the AK 47 is best suited for the battlefield is also a true. A battlefield is not a specific area or terrain…it is the place where the enemy is met and confronted. A battlefield is wherever the fighting takes place. So, my AK47 is suited for wherever in America I choose to be.
To be honest, I don’t believe ANY regulation on firearms should be allowed. I believe our Founding Fathers wanted us to be on an even keel at all times with all of our potential enemies. Back then, the enemy had muskets and so did we. As progress of the firearm came about, so should our right to have the best arms we can.
If our potential enemies had high capacity magazines or full auto weapons, so should We The People have this same ability. We can not be an effective and well regulated militia if we have inferior weapons to those of our enemies. I am sure that our Founding Fathers did not expect future generations to fight a tyrannical govt or any enemy that could outshoot us or mow us down with little or no effort. That is why they used the word “ARMS”, to include ALL weapons. I do believe that weapons of mass destruction should certainly be regulated. However, I can not help but think that the regulation of our everyday firearms, such as caliber size, magazine capacity, rapid fire, size of weapon, barrel length, silencers and so on, is in direct violation of the 2nd Amendment as our Founding Fathers intended. All of this nonsense was created by liberals who inch by inch, convinced the American people these moves were necessary to protect us. In reality, ever regulation has made us less and less able to resist those that would seek to control us and take our rights away from us.
As I am sure everyone here knows fully well, the 2nd Amendment is not about hunting or even about personal protection against home invaders or muggers. Yes, those are legitimate purposes to be recognized, but our 2nd Amendment is about Americans being allowed to maintain the ability to retain all other rights gratned to us by GOD. About our ability to fight, on an even footing, all enemies that want to take away our freedoms and force us into submission.
During the Revolution, We The People owned muskets as did our enemy, the British. Could you imagine us winning the Revolution if we were regulated into having less than the same arms as the British? It would have been very difficult if not impossible to win this war that was the birth of America. If not for the right to keep and bear arms, we would all still be be drinking tea and shouting long live the queen. Well, every regulation that has been put in place regarding firearms have slowly eroded our ability to oppose a tyrannical goverment. If the time ever came, (And I seriously hope it NEVER does), We The People will be at a huge disadvantage. The arms our govt allows us to have now are nowhere equally matched against those we would have to fight against if a tyrant commanding our military wanted to disarm us.
Of some concern is the fact that would our soldiers and law enforcment officers ever raise their arms and use them on everyday Americans? Would they really disarm We The People after having sworn an oath to uphold the Constitution? I hope not.
However, Hitler convinced countless German soldiers to do exactly that. These soldiers swore allegiance to Hitler and killed their own countrymen. They killed them by the millions under the orders of their leader. How did so many become convinced to do this? Willingly? Did none of them have a conscience? They had weapons so why did none of them turn them on Hitler and his henchmen directly?
So, having history as my lesson, I worry that it could happen again. I bet that proud German citizens never thought that fellow Germans in uniform would kill them…but it happened. I have even read that German jews that proudly served in uniform for Germany in WWI were killed as well. Nothing protected you if Hitler and his troops wanted you dead. This is one reason I find it particularly odd when I hear jewish Americans shout for gun control. Do they not realize what they are saying?
Could history like this really repeat itself? Have we learned from it? I would like to, but we are human and just as humans have done for thousands of generations, we always seem to make the same mistakes over and over. Could it happen again?
We are living in interesting times. I know that during every election it is said that this is the most important one. However, I think it is a fact this time.
I have read much about all of our presidents throughout American history and even though I have not agreed with the ideaology of some of them, I do believe that every one of our presidents in the past loved America. That they were doing what they believed was best for Americans, at least to some degree. Of course, corruption in our government has always existed, but these were almost always for personal gain and cronism. This is the first time that I feel we have a president in office, along with other HIGH ranking politicians that truly do HATE America and want to destroy it. That they really have never been proud of their country their entire adult lives. That it is more than just about stealing our treasury for their own person gain or taking action for more power and control. For the first time, I am almost positive that those in charge want more than wealth and power, they want to DESTROY America.
Just like those evil individuals of history who hated their fellow countrymen so much that they threw open the gates to their country’s enemies that have led to complete destruction, obama wants to do the same. Just remember his quote to the russian ambassador not that long ago. Look at the policies and laws he is enacting that make us more and more vulnerable. Not only is he working to disarm the people, he is working diligently to dismantle our military and destroy our nukes. What is he doing, and why is he allowed to do this?
I think obma is a lackey of someone with even more power and influence and that obama is a pawn that will be discarded after his purpose has been fulfilled. I used to not believe in conspiracy theories and thought that only wackos would think like this. No more.
I hope I am merely being paranoid. I hope that we have a legitimate election that sees obama out the door. An election that keeps and takes our senate and house. And that Romney does the things he has promised. Until November elections are passed and even more so, that Romney is sworn in, I will remain slightly uneasy. They say that good always triumphs over evil…I hope they are right.

Just a note to clear something up: All males born in the United States of America are automatically members of the United States Militia from age 17 through age 46.

Gun Owners of America did many years ago during the run up to the AWB, as did RMGO. When I asked the NRA why they never brought it up, they sent me an email saying that it was a “non-issue.”

At one time it said that in the military officers handbook. Not sure if it still does because it was back in the late 70’s when I read it.
One of the biggest fears of the Founding Fathers was a large standing army controlled by a powerful central government.
The wording has changed somewhat, but not the meaning. Has to do with organized State Militias, such as the Colorado State Militia. Which train, on a regular basis with 10th SFG (ABN) down in Colorado Springs.
The Fort Hood debacle shows just how idiotic gun control rules are. What should we think of our leaders that do not even trust their OWN military with weapons? Just think how less the body count would have been had our soldiers been allowed to be armed on base.
As a police officer, if I was in uniform, I had my side arm. Imagine if I had to hand over my weapon upon entering the police station. The safest place for a bad guy with a gun and bad intentions is where the citizenry is disarmed. You would think a place where there are lots of trained soldiers would be very dangerous for a bad guy with a gun. Turns out, it was pretty safe place for a bad guy to go. How much worse would it have been had that officer not been there.
We have this “hurry up there is no time to lose, gun laws must be enacted NOW” yelling and screaming after every shooting incident. Well, why is this not in reverse?
At Fort Hood, it is absolute and without a doubt that if our soldiers on base were allowed to carry, the body count would have been way less. If movie goers were allowed to carry in the theater, I can almost guarantee a smaller body count and one more dead goblin. So, where is the yelling and screaming that our soldier should be armed at all times? That honest law abiding citizens be allowed to protect themselves no matter where they go. There is not time to lose, it must be done NOW NOW NOW.
Hurry up and take guns from Americans. Bad laws are passed in the middle of the night when no one is looking or paying attention and the media is silent about it. But try to undo a bad gun control law and it takes twenty years of court battle and legislation.
What the hell is wrong with our government? Good Americans that believe in the Constitution are getting a little sick and tired of the crap that we are being made to abide by. We are tired of getting labeled as terrorist, racists, or UnAmerican when it is us that love this country and believe the most in what our Founding Fathers set up for us.
The voting system is supposed to save us from tyrants and an oppressive govt. But lately, it only seems to slow down the inevitable, if at all. We can not keep accepting what is being done. We are getting to the point where the laws that are being passed are really really starting to intrude on our founding beliefs and very way of life.
It was one thing to keep raising the price of living in America and taxing us more and more, while receiving less and less. We kept letting it happen and just worked harder and tried to live our lives the best we could. But now, we are being told that no matter how hard we work and how much we pay, it’s still not good enough. Oh, and by the way, you’re an evil racist, clinging to your bible and guns as well. Talk about no damn appreciation for the ones that are supporting this country and busting our asses to provide for others that do nothing.
The tipping point is getting closer. Those in charge better be watching. People can only take so much. We hired people and put them in a position of power to take care of the necessary day to day operations of America. We gave them a limited amount of power…just enough to do the basic job asked of them. Now, they are refusing to do that and further, want to change the relationship. They they no longer want to work for us,, they want us to work for them. They have let the power we gave them go to their heads and they now think they are in control. They wrongly believe they know what is best for us and want to control every aspect of our lives. We must try to convince them they are misguided and just flat out wrong. We need to vote them out. If we can not vote them out, and they continue, we will have to go to the next step in the process. Our Founding Fathers gave us the ability to remove and replace those that would rule over us. They have provided us with several options to do this. The best one is the voting process and this usually works. However, they have found a way to game the system and alter the voting process so that it does not reflect the true wishes of We The People. We can do it peacefully and calmly, or if they tamper with our system and try to stop us from exercising our Constitutional Rights, we have other means.
I hope the first option still works though.
