Romney arrives in Louisiana for storm visit
NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney detoured to hurricane-damaged Louisiana on Friday as he campaigned his way out of the Republican National Convention on the final leg of his quest for the White House.
The former Massachusetts governor was expected to visit an emergency command center in Lafitte, La., where emergency crews were helping victims of Hurricane Isaac. The storm brought severe flooding to the area earlier in the week before it was downgraded to a tropical storm.
Romney’s trip to Louisiana, announced less than 12 hours after he accepted the GOP presidential nomination, was sandwiched between previously announced campaign stops in Lakeland, Fla., and Cincinnati.

And then there’s this:
Obama to visit Louisiana Monday in wake of Isaac
ABOARD AIR FORCE ONE (AP) - President Barack Obama will visit Louisiana on Monday to examine water and wind damage in the wake of Isaac.
White House spokesman Jay Carney announced the trip aboard Air Force One as Obama flew to Texas on Friday to speak to U.S. service members and their families.
Carney’s announcement came shortly after Obama’s presidential rival, Republican Mitt Romney, announced he would visit the New Orleans area on Friday. Carney said Obama reached his decision before Romney’s intentions became known.

I have some of the most politically astute readers of any blog on the ‘net. I am sure you can all figure this one out.
It’s ALL politics; you see, there is absolutely nothing that Romney or Obama can personally DO to help the people of Louisiana, but don’t you find it a little strange that Romney is going to Louisiana BEFORE Obama?
There’s a lot of political savvy at work here; Obama should be there NOW, he is the POTUS and he needs to act like it.
Romney is the challenger and is more Presidential NOW than Obama has been in the last 4 years!
But in all fairness to Barack Hussein Obama, the weekend is coming up and ALL of the golf courses in South Louisiana are waterlogged right now. Who wants to play on a soggy golf course?
He’s always been a follower. It’s just more obvious now.
When the Romneys move into the White House it once more will have a First Lady who brings to the job class and style.
What can we expect. The man said he prefers leading from behind. Let’s hope it stays that way.
It took Obama almost a week before he went to Fort Food. Former President Bush went their that night, unannounced, to visit the survivors.
There really is no comparison between Mitt Romney and Barack Obama. Romney wins, hands down.
Funny how P-BO never announced his trip to LA until Romney did - go figure. BTW - hope you don’t mind - took your waving TX Flag up there and put it up on my front page to use as your blog badge to link back to you. Hope you don’t mind.
I’m good with it BoBo…
What surprises me is that Obama is going there at all.
When it was apparent that Issac was going to wallop LA, and some on the left of the aisle started making noise about Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney not getting involved - my first thought was, “It ain’t his jurisdiction!” And now, Obama has to make good and go to the site of Katrin - uhm, Isaac - and show that he is large and in charge. It IS Obama’s jurisdiction.
Back when Katrina hit NOLA, the liberal left lapdog media was all over Bush for not being in the middle of it. It was, according to the Bush administration (and rightly so), FEMA’s game. Now, when everyone is asking the left why Obama isn’t there, the liberal left lapdog media will be the first to tell you that it is FEMA’s game!
Hypocrisy, thy name is NBC/CBS/ABC.
Obama — once again leading from behind.
And stepping in it too.
May he continue to do both of those things so that he is evicted from the Oval Office.
Poor Mitt and wife. I hope they can get rid of that “smell” in the whitehouse before he moves in.
That would be the only time I would have no problem with a new president completely refurnishing the white house; I wouldn’t care for the shag rugs or velvet paintings either.

I’m not shocked that Mitt went first. It probably didn’t even occur to Obozo that he should go in… he’s too busy doing his favorite thing… campaigning. It didn’t escape me either that the mainScream media didn’t do the same shill they did to President Bush after Katrina (as Cary so aptly pointed out). Obama hopefully will continue to act like a LOSER through to November when it will become real!
