Dallas County commissioners vote themselves a raise

Dallas County commissioners on Tuesday morning gave themselves and other elected officials a 4 percent pay raise.

The vote was 4-1 with County Judge Clay Jenkins casting the lone dissenting vote. Jenkins declined to say why he voted against a pay raise for elected officials.

He is the top earner among elected officials, followed by the sheriff and then the commissioners.

The Commissioners Court voted unanimously to also give county employees a maximum 4 percent raise — their first in four years.

County Judge Clay Jenkins preside over the Court, the Districts are represented as follows; Dist. 1 Maurine Dickey, Dist. 2 Mike Cantrell, Dist. 3 John Wiley Price and Dist. 4 Dr. Elba Garcia.

There is only one Commissioner that I have had any interaction with, Mike Cantrell.

A while back, during the campaign to depose a dictatorial Mayor, said Mayor was doing everything he could think of to STOP me from writing blog posts pointing out his utter hypocrisy and dictatorial rule over Rowlett. Mr. Former Mayor wanted me brought up on charges regarding my *city sources* that were feeding me loads of information on him and his method of management.

Former Rowlett Mayor John Harper wanted me to explain myself, to HIS satisfaction, in the offices of Commissioner Mike Cantrell.

Commissioner Cantrell declined to hear the arguments that basically boiled down to a 1st Amendment issue. I was very happy that Cantrell saw it that way. I have always had a great deal of respect for Mike Cantrell, we were friends on Facebook but as soon as our former Mayor brought him into the mix I deleted Cantrell so as not to present a conflict of interest for him.

I DO know this; in MY opinion, at least one of the Dallas County Commissioners is a MORON and is only there because he is Black and so are most of his constituents.

Some will say I call John Wiley Price a MORON because he’s Black, they would be wrong. I call John Wiley Price a MORON because he IS a MORON. What follows is the best example I can think of to fully illustrate the stupidity that IS John Wiley Price.

A special meeting about Dallas County traffic tickets turned tense and bizarre this afternoon.

County commissioners were discussing problems with the central collections office that is used to process traffic ticket payments and handle other paperwork normally done by the JP Courts.

Commissioner Kenneth Mayfield, who is white, said it seemed that central collections “has become a black hole” because paperwork reportedly has become lost in the office.

Commissioner John Wiley Price, who is black, interrupted him with a loud “Excuse me!” He then corrected his colleague, saying the office has become a “white hole.”

That prompted Judge Thomas Jones, who is black, to demand an apology from Mayfield for his racially insensitive analogy.

Mayfield shot back that it was a figure of speech and a science term. A black hole, according to Webster’s, is perhaps “the invisible remains of a collapsed star, with an intense gravitational field from which neither light nor matter can escape.”

Other county officials quickly interceded to break it up and get the meeting back on track. TV news cameras were rolling, after all. SOURCE

This story is from 2008 and John Wiley Price is the only one still there FROM this story, but he’s still a MORON. Price was NOT the only uneducated MORON sitting on this Commissioners Court, Judge Thomas Jones didn’t strike me as a *rocket scientist* type either.

Obviously, if past performance is any indication, being a scholar is NOT a requirement for holding a position of Commissioner Dallas County.

Now to address the REAL issue at hand; they voted themselves a raise, they being the Commissioners themselves, not the voters of Dallas County, the Commissioners just had an idea to give themselves more money said “Hey, let’s give ourselves a raise, all in favor….”

I have to say this, Judge Clay Jenkins cast the dissenting vote, that is commendable, but I have to wonder; even though Jenkins voted against this raise, will he take the raise in his check or will he give it back to Dallas County?

That is a question that should be answered in a PUBLIC forum! If Judge Jenkins is so inclined, he can comment here as to whether he’ll take the raise or give it back.

    From the original story:

UPDATE: Commissioner Elba Garcia, a Democrat, said she will not accept her pay raise but will instead ask that it be used for continuing education classes and other benefits for her road and bridge district staff.

Commissioner Maurine Dickey, a Republican, also now says she will not accept a 4 percent pay raise.

So, WHY then did they vote FOR the raise? Is this now an act of charity and an opportunity to place a star in their crowns??

Shocking. Nah, they pull this garbage in my neck of the woods ALL the time.

I see that the commission is channeling their inner Congress.

I deleted part of YOUR comment and all of MY original response to you, I don’t use that kind of language on my blog, it only comes out when I am terribly PISSED THE HELL OFF…

Commissioner Kenneth Mayfield, who you accused of being as screwed up as the guy that thinks Guam will tip over, is NOT wrong, HE used a scientific term, *BLACK HOLE* to describe where the paperwork was going…

Price and Jones heard BLACK and went into instant RACE BAITING mode…

Read the story, get the FACTS straight and THEN comment… Sheesh…

Black, white, pink, purple, burnt umber, the color doesn’t matter.

What MATTERS is that an elected body has decided to UP its pay grade in tumultuous times of a deadened economy.

Further: a GOVERNMENTAL body that has decided to do this on the back of TAXPAYERS.

Interpretation: those persons couldn’t care LESS about the sources and how hard taxpayers work for their paychecks.

    They just want a RAISE!
