Rep. Steve Stockman to challenge Sen. John Cornyn in Texas GOP primary

Rep. Steve Stockman to challenge Sen. John Cornyn in Texas GOP primary

(CNN) - Republican Rep. Steve Stockman is launching a primary challenge against fellow Texan Sen. John Cornyn.

The Senate’s second-ranking Republican, Cornyn is up for re-election next year.

Stockman, a tea party favorite, told WND that he decided to challenge Cornyn in part because he “undermined” fellow Texan Sen. Ted Cruz’s fight to derail Obamacare.

“And now, it looks like Cruz was right and Cornyn was wrong. He [Cornyn] sided with the President, essentially, in making sure Obamacare became law while Cruz did everything possible to stop it,” Stockman said. SOURCE

Most folks know; I don’t have a lot of use for the TEA Party on a *local* level, it proved itself to be a less than effective waste of time here in Rowlett, but I blame that on the leadership.

I haven’t seen a lot that impresses me from most of the other *local* TEA Party groups either, but in all fairness, I haven’t been directly involved in TEA Party politics for quite a while. Perhaps things have changed.

The TEA Party, on a state and national level has, apparently, gotten their act together and IS offering up some rather good candidates from time to time.

Now I have to tell you; TEA Party candidate, favorite, whatever they want to call him, Steve Stockman running against John Cornyn is a good thing and I WILL support Stockman.

It seems that Stockman may be the kind of guy that can work WITH Ted Cruz and do the right thing, for the United States AND Texas. I believe they would make a formidable pair, and if they really are on the same page, Texas can, and WILL have the 2 strongest, most honest truth speakers in the nation!

Don’t take me wrong, John Cornyn is a nice guy, but as the old saying goes; nice guys finish last, and the reason that John Cornyn is a U.S. Senator at this time is because he hasn’t faced a credible challenger.

When Cornyn was initially elected to the U.S. Senate he was thought to be a solid Conservative type and that was exactly what Texas needed. Kay Bailey Hutchison was rapidly proving herself to be that RINO so many suspected her of being, and she was a big part of the *Washington crowd*, in other words; she seemed to forget where she came from, who sent her there and ultimately, who was her *dance partner*.

An old Texas saying goes like this; “Dance with the one that brung ya…” meaning to not forget where your loyalties need to lie.

Hutchison forgot that part of the game, Cornyn seems to have forgotten too and only remembers when election time rolls around, and that is why Cornyn needs to go!

John Cornyn, in many ways, reminds me of Sen. John McCain. Cornyn is a *wild card* and is as likely to align himself with the Democrats as he is to stand with GOP. That’s the kind of thing that most folks here in Texas, at least the Conservative folks, just can’t tolerate.

To the folks of Texas it’s still a case of your word being your bond, to those of us on the RIGHT anyway, and when you can’t trust a man at his word and accept his handshake as a *done deal*, that’s just not a man you need to do business with.

Make no mistake; Stockman has one hell of a hill to climb to beat Cornyn. Stockman is very short on cash, having a working war chest of $32,000.00, and in the political game today, that is a drop in the bucket. When you realize that Cornyn has something like $7 million on hand, it’s easy to see that Stockman is in for a fight if he is to succeed in unseating Cornyn.

I have always favored the underdog, and in this race I will hitch my wagon to Stockman. I meant what I said when I told people that I would never support another RINO.

I AM a man of my word.

Then good on you. You are a man of your word.

Cornyn, will have served two terms and I believe his time should be up. Two terms is enough for anyone serving in the US Senate. Career politicians are the problem in America. Too many have gone to Washington with good intentions and it doesn’t take long for them to loose their ideals to get along to get reelected.

Cornyn lost me also when he didn’t support Cruz on Obamacare. Will be supporting Stockman also.

I was in hopes that someone would challenge Cornyn in the GOP primary. Now I have someone I can vote for positively. Lots of conservatives challenging the GOP incumbents who have become establishment lackeys. Cornyn, Corona and Sessions all facing primary challengers. I am looking forward to our primary. Even if the incumbants win, they will still know that a hell of a lot of their constituencies are not happy with their voting records.

I’m with you Fred, no more RINO candidates. It seems that the disease in Washington is a powerful one. How could a staunch conservative ever turn RINO without catching some sort of illness? Marco Rubio was my choice for senator in Florida, and although my campaign contribution was small, I wish I could get it back. I have nothing against legal immigration. Letting millions of illiterate, marginally educated people into the country is the recipe for the chaos that is put forth by the Cloward/Piven crowd. Call them patriots or Tea Partiers, we need to elect people who are supporters of the Constitution.

Good news from the great state of Texas.
