High court rebukes Obama on recess appointments

Obama for Edit 5WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court on Thursday limited the president’s power to fill high-level vacancies with temporary appointments, ruling in favor of Senate Republicans in their partisan clash with President Barack Obama.

The high court’s first case involving the Constitution’s recess appointments clause ended in a unanimous decision holding that Obama’s appointments to the National Labor Relations Board in 2012 without Senate confirmation were illegal. Obama invoked the Constitution’s provision giving the president the power to make temporary appointments when the Senate is in recess.

Problem is, the court said, the Senate was not actually in a formal recess when Obama acted.

Obama had argued that the Senate was on an extended holiday break and that the brief sessions it held every three days — what lawmakers call “pro forma” — were a sham that was intended to prevent him from filling seats on the NLRB.

The justices rejected that argument Thursday. SOURCE

When the Supreme Court rejects Obama decisions, and is unanimous in doing so, you have to wonder; has the SCOTUS finally found their *heads* and decided to make their decisions using *rule of law* as opposed to a *we love Obama* stand point?

Here is one point that can’t be argued; Professor or Not, Obama Repeatedly Flunks Constitution Law Tests.

Very few people that have the capacity to actually think and deduce on their own, people that can read the news, watch current events and truly listen to the words of Obama have no doubt that in addition to the Obama regime being the most inept and corrupt to ever exist in THIS nation, it is also led by a *ghost* President; one that is a pathological liar, a narcissist and an individual that had to have his personal records sealed under order as the President to keep the citizens of the USA from finding him to be exactly what so many Conservative writers have long believed him to be; the REAL Manchurian Candidate.

I don’t know how much more the American people and this nation can take. We are being *ruled*, not governed, RULED by a man that believes himself to be above the law, by a man that honestly believes that he is far smarter than the rest of this nation and a man that believes he has some sort of royal power to do anything with this nation that he wishes to do.

“Since President Obama took office, Senate Republicans have done everything possible to deny qualified nominees from receiving a fair up-or-down vote,” Reid said. “More than anything, today’s Supreme Court ruling underscores the importance of the rules reform Senate Democrats enacted last November. … Since the November reform the Senate has been confirming qualified nominees at a steady pace and today’s ruling will have no effect on our ability to continue ensuring that qualified nominees receive an up-or-down vote.”

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) praised the Court’s decision, saying the justices unanimously voted to reject Obama’s “brazen power-grab.” SOURCE

There’s an old adage that says, “Even a blind hog finds an acorn on occasion” and that is how I feel about the above statement made by Sen. Mitch McConnell.

Since the day he hit town Obama and Company have been engaged in a brazen power-grab, one designed to take power and wealth away from working class Americans and to give it to the Obama regime as our wealth is *redistributed* to the Obama crowd, those that support Obama but live off of the welfare that we, the American taxpayers provide.

Regarding the *up-or-down vote* that Harry Reid is so fond of talking about; if those in the Senate that want a straight vote would actually propose candidates worthy of one they might be surprised at the cooperation he would receive from the GOP.

Bottom line; will ANY of this make a difference in the way the Obama regime goes about its business? I seriously doubt it, as I said, Obama considers himself above the laws of the land and he is intent to rule by executive fiat.

God help us all.

You know, I never liked fiats. They aren’t built very well and are unreliable, in my own experience. Hmmm……

  2. Capt Ron says:

Aaaand, Mitch McConnell is a douchbag.

  3. Bunkerville says:

There have been a number of unanimous opinions against Obama, this being especially sweet. Obama must be stunned that his minions didn’t support him. Good news indeed.

  4. Alan Caruba says:

The SCOTUS decision gives one hope that they may have “had enough” of Obama and will use the remaining two and a half years to slap him down again and again. Wouldn’t surprise me. But Obama is not going to change his ways.

  5. The Right Handed Cowboy says:

I sincerely hope you are correct Alan. It would be so nice to see the SCOTUS to continue with their as Fred said “REBUKE” of Obama…It’s not a pretty site, but I am dancing the jig, because finally, someone, the “SCOTUS ” slapped OBAMA down and said enough is enough….

maybe someone can grow some balls and impeach the sorry SOB.

Maybe y’all can clarify to me about this “unanimous.” I read that another conservative blog, then also at MSM sites. Here example…
I used to think I understood how things worked. Even if not in my way of wishing what the outcome was.
Now not so sure. Also read WSJ and The Wire. This decision called “narrow decision” and “unanimous decision.” Five to four justices. Unanimous? And look who were the five.
Sorry seems like 1984 double speak to me. And sure it will end up double cross.

Obama is supposed to have been a constitutional law professor but for some reason, I’ve never heard of one of his former students speaking up. Surely, someone as smart as him would have former students falling over themselves to tell the nation what a great professor and constitutional authority he is. With his MSM lap dogs, they would be reporting this 24/7 every time a former student sang his praises. But, we never hear of it. No former students…no media coverage…nothing. I’ve read articles where other faculty members disliked him because they claimed he was lazy and never attended faculty meetings…sounds like he carried this over as a Senator and POTUS. A former dean at the school even corrected a NY times reporter when she reported that he was tenured, stating he was never offered tenure. Kind of makes me wonder.

This is a good post Fred. I just don’t know where to begin. Why does it take so friggin long for the supes to decide anything? They know the constitution inside out and they can’t say immediately WHOA!!!!!! The immigration issue is soon to be decided by executive order? WTF. WE ARE BEING INVADED. This is so serious that I won’t go any further into it with my response. I might get a visit.

    • TexasFred says:

Somehow I am thinking that even his protection detail is fully aware of what he is.. I doubt you’d get a visit for an opinion, if that was the case I would have had mine a long time ago…

  9. Steve Dennis says:

I agree Fred, while this was a rebuke of the president I don’t think for a minute he is going to do anything differently moving forward. He feels he is above the law and he knows that by the time anything makes it to SCOTUS it will be too late to really do anything about it.

    • Wayne says:

That’s the point I was making Steve. It seems that any decision that immediately affects the country takes too long to correct. We are close to full on rule by decree. The country may be very close to an “EGYPTIAN SOLUTION”. I am worried because I think BHO has set this up to provoke just that. Remember, out of chaos, a new world order. The standing army seems to be in place, ready for action against CITIZENS. The real issue is, are there really 535 people in congress that don’t have a clue?
