Reports: WH intruder gets far past front door

WASHINGTON (AP) — The intruder who climbed a fence made it farther inside the White House than the Secret Service has publicly acknowledged, the Washington Post and New York Times newspapers reported Monday. The disclosures came on the eve of a congressional oversight hearing with the director of the embattled agency assigned to protect the president’s life.

Citing unnamed sources — three people familiar with the incident and a congressional aide — the newspapers said Omar J. Gonzalez ran past the guard at the front door and into the East Room, which is about halfway across the first floor of the building. Gonzalez was eventually “tackled” by a counter-assault agent, according to the Post, which was first to report the news.

In the hours after the fence-jumper incident, Secret Service spokesman Ed Donovan told The Associated Press that the suspect had been apprehended just inside the North Portico doors of the White House.

The Secret Service also said that night that the suspect had been unarmed — an assertion that was revealed to be false the next day when officials acknowledged Gonzalez had a knife with him when he was apprehended. SOURCE

If a guy like Gonzalez can get into the White House, and penetrate that far, one of two things is a fact; the guy is either VERY good, with magnificent Ninja skills, OR, the White House is one of the most insecure locations in the United States.

Now I wonder if Obama has any inkling of what Americans feel like regarding our BORDER security.

Personally, I’m going with ‘the White House is one of the most insecure locations in the United States’ part. Omar J. Gonzalez is NOT a covert insertions specialist, which is obvious, he got caught, and his timing was nothing less than atrocious.

Obama and his entourage had just left the White House, I presume via Marine One, and if Gonzalez didn’t see Marine One lift off and not realize that the POTUS was out of the House, he’s just some *nut job* that got very lucky and wasn’t too terribly serious about hurting anyone.

Had this been an operation conducted by Spetsnaz, or a North Korean Special Operation Force or units of The People’s Liberation Army Special Operations Forces, this could have looked like a scene from Olympus Has Fallen , except these particular Spec/Ops forces would have had much better timing, would have been carrying real weapons, Obama would have been IN the White House and the casualties would have been real.

It’s not that I am all that concerned about the safety of Barack Hussein Obama and his band of ne’er do wells, what concerns me is the sanctity of the White House and the idea that its security is, supposedly, nothing less than impregnable.

So far there continues to be nothing but failures come out of the Obama administration and every department of it. I suppose we shouldn’t be too terribly surprised that the White House was so easily invaded.

There’s one other thing that surprises me as well; that being how the Obama regime has let the word get out regarding the once thought to be sacrosanct security of the White House.
