Bundy, 7 others arrested after gunfight kills 1, injures 1

The leader of a group of armed protesters who had occupied a federal wildlife refuge in eastern Oregon for 24 days was arrested along with four others Tuesday after a traffic stop prompted gunfire that left one person dead and another injured.

The FBI and Oregon State Police arrested Ammon Bundy, 40, his brother Ryan, 43, Brian Cavalier, 44, Shawna Cox, 59, and Ryan Payne, 40, Brian Cavalier, 44, at around 4:25 p.m. local time on U.S. Highway 395.

Three other people were arrested separately. The FBI said Joseph O’Shaughnessy, 45, and Peter Santilli, 50, were arrested in the nearby town of Burns, Ore. Hours later, authorities said Jon Ritzheimer, 32, turned himself into the Peoria, Ariz. police department.

The FBI said all eight face a federal felony charge of conspiracy to impede officers of the United States from discharging their official duties through the use of force, intimidation or threats. SOURCE

And so it begins in earnest.

I am going to hold off on calling this a murder or execution for now, we just don’t have enough facts to make a definitive statement at this time.

I want to see some dash or body cam footage before I twist off on the FBI, but I have to say this; for a long time now I have told people that *MOST* of our Law Enforcement folks would refuse orders to attack the American people but that I was certain there would be some Federal Officers, and a small number of local officers that would engage the citizenry and follow any order they were given by Obama and/or the DOJ and would use any tool at their disposal to accommodate Obama with his desire to take guns from Americans and declare Martial Law if Americans fought back.

I know there are at least 2 sides to every story but if the following is true then there may, and I stress MAY have well be a murder committed.

Nevada Assemblywoman Michele Fiore said that Ammon Bundy called his wife, Lisa Bundy, from the back of a police car on Tuesday night.

Fiore, a vocal supporter of the Bundy family, said that Ammon Bundy told his wife that Finicum was cooperating with police and had put his hands up. Then, Fiore said, Bundy told his wife that he watched police shoot Finicum three times. She said that Ammon Bundy also said Finicum was on the ground when he was shot. SOURCE

If there were NO SHOTS fired by any of the protesters, and IF, as Mr. Bundy says, ‘Finicum was cooperating with police and had put his hands up’ then we may well be looking at the shot that starts the next American Revolution.

But keep this one thing in mind; this is the 2 sides part.

IF these folks did fire on Federal and State officers they made the worst mistake of their lives. If anyone opens fire on Police, any Police, then I am all for returning fire in large volumes.

I am seriously going to wait for details to emerge folks, REAL details if we can get them, before I beat the keyboard to death, but once we have those facts then I will have more to say, a lot more.

My anger is on *simmer* right now but if these guys shot a man, 3 times so the story said, while he was on the ground with his hands in the air, the anger that I feel, and that of many others may blow the lid off the nation, but again, this could be a carefully crafted operation designed to do just that.

This was going nowhere. But as Gov. Kate Brown said federal officials “must move quickly to end the occupation and hold all of the wrongdoers accountable.”
So now we will hear about all of the dangerous right wingers whose guns need to be confiscated post haste.

  2. Ron Stabb says:

Don’t know the facts and no disrespect but some lyrics from an old Eagles song came to mind.
“Go down Bill Doolin don’t you wonder why
Sooner or later we all have to die
Sooner or later, that’s a stone cold fact
Four men ride out and only three ride back”.?

This could be our own little BLM…only maybe PLM…(Patriot Lives Matter). Like you Fred, I want the fact first. I hope there is footage of some sort we can view. But then again, no footage was needed in the cases of trayvon or the gentle giant and many other black lives matter nonsense in order to get the people riled up. But unlike the knee-grows, I would like a tad bit more proof before going all ape-shit on the matter.

If what Bundy said is true, the Feds just fired the first shots of the next civil war.

I could be wrong, but no officer serving a federal warrant would let you make a cell phone call while sitting in his backseat after arrest. The news even played a clip of Bundy on his knees getting handcuffed. Someone is telling a tall tale.

First, I think that group had the right agenda and a dead wrong approach. Armed occupation can only lead to trouble. I had been admiring the law enforcement for ignoring them so we didn’t have another Waco or Ruby Ridge. BUT, if the “murder” story is true, then that presents a real issue for the American people. Like you, I will wait and see what the facts really are.

To ALL of my friends and readers; thank you to those that are emailing me the YouTube videos of a wife talking and some guy talking saying that the gentleman was shot dead by the authorities while he stood there with his hands up. I appreciate your effort…

The Feds say this was a gunfight, the occupiers say it was a murder, until video of the shooting surfaces and lays ALL doubt to rest this is still just a *they said, they said*.

Get me some hard proof and I will blast this all over the world, as will any other reputable blogger but I am NOT putting MY reputation for truth and accuracy on the line because a Fed said one thing and the occupiers said something else.

I, like you Fred, am waiting until this thing has had time for, as has been the case in other “govt vs civilian” shootings, the truth to bear witness. Everyone has a cover story and it’s almost impossible to determine what happened so early in this because both accounts (as has been true in the past) are so orthogonal.

What I do find so telling, though, is, as has already been mentioned above, there is this crowd that was all to ready to have a lynching of government officials based on “eye witness testimony” and now on this event, those folk are now fully backing the government officials over the “eye witness testimony.”

It’s depressing but not totally unexpected. Glad to see you be one of the sane ones on this.

I’m kind of funny about going to WAR… I will, in a minute if I feel the need, but not for a *they said/they said* from folks doing Round 2 in a different location..

  8. Ron Stabb says:

Different circumstances(Race) and half of Harney County, Oregon would be on fire right now with Sharpton calling the shots.

  9. Wayne says:

Missed this yesterday but like you Fred, I want proof, not hearsay.

    • TexasFred says:

Proof surfaced yesterday, everyone can stand down now, the guy tried TWICE to grab a gun, he was shot on the 2nd attempt…

I would have shot the SOB on the 1st try…

  10. RobertG says:

Exactly that, Fred. The move was provocative. As they say… Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6…
