OK, because so many have asked and it’s just too much to try and email over and over, here goes, the most comprehensive rundown of my life to ever hit the web, and not to worry, no ‘fobbits’ will be harmed nor will any national secrets be divulged in the writing of this tale…
According to my dear and glorious physicians, I have apparently been diabetic since I was in my ‘teens, and that was a long time ago, and it also appears that it lay undetected for many years, I was, all things considered, as healthy as a horse until late March of 1994 when I suffered a serious heart attack while on assignment, I was transported to a facility in Seattle and they did a 4x bypass, things went like a dream and 6 weeks to the day I played a full 18 holes of golf at my local club back home in Louisiana, 2 weeks later I was released to lite/moderate duty, a damned desk basically, and 2 weeks later I was told by a brilliant cardiologist that I could return to my FULL set of whatever the hell it was I happened to be up to at the time…
Obviously, he had no real idea of what my job was, I was forced to take medical retirement at the age of 40, I just wasn’t up for the past stress that had put me where I was, so, brilliant me, I went into the trucking business full time, not as a side line, not as a tax write off, oh no, I got seriously into this thing with a major Van Line that had a very secure ‘High Security’ division…
Because of my past experiences I was able to attain the highest of security clearances and I became involved in the transportation of high value electronics, medical equipment, trade shows and then again into the ‘high security’ stuff, my favorite, we got to carry the guns and had U.S. Marshals escort us, had helicopters overhead, all the good stuff, it was a blast and I was in my element once again and loving every minute of it…
Well, things rocked on for a while and life was really good until I had what turned out to be a gall bladder attack in ‘99, but even that wasn’t as bad as being found to be severely diabetic but pretty much able to maintain with diet and pills…
August 2002, my world crashed into a huge pile, at least I was in the Dallas area this time and not on the other side of the world, it was HOT, it was mid-day August 28th in Dallas and I had another full blown heart attack, and this was a big one too, any bigger and I’d have gone with Fred Sanford to see Elizabeth…
Being a perpetual optimist I told the wife, 6-8 weeks after surgery and I’ll kick this thing in the ass again, and knowing me and my drive as only she possibly can, she agreed and I went back for another 4x bypass, except this time it didn’t take, only about 70% did, the doctors wrote it off to diabetes not allowing healing, who knows, in any case I had to finally take full retirement and disability, sold my business and equipment and 5 years ago I started doing forums and then my 1st blog and it’s been a blast again…
About 2 weeks ago I thought I was coming down with the flu that’s going around and was taking all the OTC crap and NOT going to the doctor as I should have, things got completely out of balance in my system, sugars went nuts, enzymes, phosphorus, potassium, ALL of it, went completely out of balance and then I had a damned gall bladder attack hit, for real, I mean hurt worse than BOTH heart attacks put together, and to make matters worse, I developed pancreantitus, severe case, it and the gall bladder were tossing bombs at each other and last Monday AM I ended up in the ICU at Baylor Med Center in Garland, spent 2 1/2 days there and 3 full days in a ward, now it’s all balanced back out for now, they have the gall bladder and pancreas cooled off, lots of antibiotics, diet change and so forth, I go in Wednesday morning for a heart stress test and if all is well, in a week or 2 I’ll have an out patient procedure done and the gall bladder will be gone, along with a lot of other problems…
Serious blogging will be on hold for a while yet, but I am working on a very serious article concerning the medical profession in America and who is actually running it, I am, after all, getting a lot of 1st hand knowledge to use…
All the best to my friends, family and readers, we seriously appreciated the calls, notes, comments, emails and visits, thank you all for caring…
