Fox News refers to Michelle Obama as baby mama

June 13th, 2008 . by TexasFred

NEW YORK (AP) - Fox News Channel referred to Michelle Obama as “Obama’s baby mama” in a graphic on Wednesday, the latest in a trio of references to the Democratic presidential campaign that have given fuel to network critics.

The graphic “Outraged liberals: Stop picking on Obama’s baby mama” was flashed during an interview with conservative columnist Michelle Malkin about whether Barack Obama’s wife has been the target of unfair criticism.

Oh! My! God! A racial episode while Michelle Malkin is being interviewed in regards to possibly racist and unfair criticism of Michelle Obama??

Where is the outrage?? Where is the emailing and blog trolling??

“Obama’s baby mama” was never said on the air. Malkin said during her interview that she had seen no gratuitous or cheap shots taken against Michelle Obama by Republican or conservative critics.

Well, some people seem to think there were cheap shots, and if there were NO gratuitous or cheap shots taken nor racist and unfair criticisms of Michelle Obama, why was an apology given? Why apologize if you’ve done nothing wrong?

Joan Walsh, a columnist from Salon.com, criticized the graphic on Thursday as a slur.

“Do you try to explain that ‘baby mama’ is slang for the unmarried mother of a man’s child, and not his wife, or even a girlfriend?” Walsh wrote. “Are they racist, or just clueless? Isn’t there racism even in their cluelessness, if somebody didn’t know what ‘baby mama’ means, but used it anyway? Even at Fox, won’t somebody have to apologize?”

Well Joan, apparently someone DID apologize, and as to the racist and/or clueless part, someone will always find a way to be terribly offended, there are people in this world that make every attempt to garner statements that offend them simply so they can have something to complain about.

Bill Shine, senior vice president of programming at Fox, said in a statement that a producer “exercised poor judgment” during the segment. The producer was not fired; no other disciplinary action was announced. Hill’s “terrorist fist jab” comment came in a tease to a segment on the candidates’ body language, and it wasn’t repeated during the subsequent interview. She told Fox it was taken from something she had read online.

The terrorist fist jab, that one may have been over the line a bit, I don’t recall ever seeing terrorists celebrating with the fist jab, more commonly referred to as a knuckle bump, I really didn’t see anything terroristic about that, what I saw was a demonstration of ghetto solidarity.

Trotta’s assassination joke came May 25 as she commented about how some considered it distasteful for Clinton to refer to Robert F. Kennedy’s assassination when explaining why she was staying in the presidential race.

“Now we have what some are reading as a suggestion that somebody knock off Osama,” she said, quickly correcting herself. “Obama. Well, both if we could.”

Mistake? Freudian slip? Just a bit of political BS? Who knows, and quite frankly, who cares, it was said, maybe Liz Trotta actually said what she was thinking, and there’s nothing wrong with that, unless you’re a world wide news network that can’t afford to have their ratings take a hit.

That’s the wonderful thing about having a blog and being a blogger that doesn’t rely on making so much as a penny off of your musings, if people read my blog and agree with it, great, if they comment and say nice things and make track back posts, wonderful, that’s the fun of blogging

If they don’t agree and wish to make disparaging remarks on their own blogs, that’s great too, freedom of speech at it’s very best, and I appreciate those links too, there is NO bad press, but blogging is a freedom unlike anything the MSM news sources can enjoy, I am a commentator, I rarely write my own material, I comment on the work of others, much like Limbaugh, Imus, Savage and many others, and I opine on the news stories of the day.

My blogs catch line is “No Holds Barred, News, Commentary and Opinion…” and that pretty much sums it all up, commentary and opinion, and if you don’t like that commentary or opinion, awesome, because if we all agreed, all the time, this would be a terribly boring world.

If my commentary offends you, don’t read my blog, and many have said “TexasFred, you are a mean, vile and disgusting old redneck and a racist too, and I will NEVER read your blog again!” and to that I say, LIAR!!

Site Meter, and some built in stuff on this new WordPress blog platform tell me exactly who is reading, what they’re reading and how long they lingered, and it’s amazing how many folks that have said they will NEVER read here again actually do. ;)

I have a descriptive under my picture, ‘I’m a highly opinionated blogger, if you ask for my opinion I’ll let you know exactly what’s on my mind, and I don’t play the PC game, so, be very careful what you ask for.‘, it’s been my philosophy for a long time and it serves me well.

I often wonder what the founding father’s would think were they able to look at what has happened to the country they created. I am sure that some of the workings of the world would perplex or even anger them.

One thing that I believe they would heartly approve is the internet and the opportunity it has afforded to to the citizens to exercise their freedom of speech.

Michelle may not be Obama’s baby mama. But is Ann Dunham his daddy’s baby mama?

Fat, Racist, VILE, and REDNECK????? Sheesh it will be tough to keep up with them all….

Maybe you should lighten up a bit Fred, take up Yoga, move to Frisco, start seeing a shrink, buy a leotard and meditate on the shakra’s or the force or what ever the hell they do out there. LMAO

Can you picture my old fat ass in a leotard?? :?

The site of you in a leotard? What a way to start the morning… :)

Apologies are worthless any more. Don’t put any weight to them because they are merely a way to appease some loud-mouth bunch of whiny crybabies. It is not that any of these people are “offended”, it is about control. They can pull the puppet strings of the media, politicians and others to further their agenda.

If we can’t call Michelle Obama’s baby’s mama, can we call her an Obama-mama?

Patrick, why yes, as a matter of fact… :P

I watched a movie the other day about a white guy getting romantically involved with a black girl and as a white man madly in love with and married to a black woman I could relate to it. It was a typical liberal Hollywood production about how bad white people treat black people and for the life of me I can’t remember the title but the woman in it kept talking about “the black tax”.
She was an executive in a white dominated corporation and I guess the writer was trying to say that blacks had to pay a “tax” in this situtation by putting up with some racism at her job. Well I’d like to talk about the “white tax” we have to pay in this country today. If we say anything that can be twisted into a critizism or slur of blacks we are racist and must apologize immediately but blacks can demean, insult, and villify whites as much as they want any time they want. Blacks are around 18% of the general population but over 50% of the prison population, 25% of black men under the age of 21 are either in prison, on parol, or have a prison record, and 70% of black children have no fathers, but we are supposed to over look these facts and not mention them or we are considered racist. As a matter of fact we must welcome them into our places of business and give them first shot at jobs or we can be sued or fined.

Personally I think that somebody needs to explain to those politically correct black liberals the difference between racism and prejudism.
