Obama asserts executive privilege
WASHINGTON (AP) - The Justice Dept says that President Barack Obama has asserted executive privilege to withhold documents a House committee is seeking in an investigation of a flawed gun-smuggling probe.
In a letter to Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., a Justice Department official said the privilege applies to documents that explain how the department learned that there were problems with the investigation called Operation Fast and Furious.

Haven’t I been saying, for quite some time now, Obama WILL resort to *Executive ORDERS* in order to maintain his position as POTUS? And now, to protect those that serve within his CORRUPT regime?
One of the best comments I have seen so far, and yeah, it’s early, but so far my buddy Grant Stinchfield has taken the prize, “If the President claims he had no conversations or awareness about “Fast and Furious” how can he claim “Executive Privilege” as a reason for the AG not to turn over documents to The House Committee Investigators? I firmly believe the Presidents use of Executive Privilege in this case is unconstitutional.”
Grant made that comment on Facebook, and if you’re a true Conservative and you’re not familiar with Grant, look him up.
Another Facebook buddy, Lew Waters, said, “Il Duce Obama steps in to protect one of his own and the cover-up continues.”
*Il Duce* was the nickname of Benito Mussolini, the Fascist Italian dictator from WWII days. Mussolini was shot and killed by Communist leaders in Italy. Just goes to show you, a Fascist dictator can’t trust anyone, even the Commies. Just sayin’…
It’s the first time Obama has used executive privilege since taking office, and a White House aide said the president had gone longer without asserting the privilege in a congressional dispute than any other president in the last three decades.
Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), the chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, said his panel was “evaluating” a letter from Deputy Attorney General James Cole asserting the privilege that arrived minutes before Issa’s committee was to begin contempt proceedings. The Justice Department requested that Obama assert the privilege in refusing to turn certain documents over to Congress concerning the botched gun smuggling operation.

So, Issa played along for long enough that Obama and Holder are playing the *Executive Privilege* card but Holder still believes he can get somewhere with a *contempt of Congress* hearing.

IMHO by exerting Executive Privilege this late into the Fast and Furious investigation, Obama just stepped on his dick. Tells me that both Holder and Obama were involved in the scheme and they both lied to Congress. Time to impeach Barry and send Holder to prison.

I want to believe he and the committee are sincere in what they are doing but we’ve had so much smoke and mirror activity from Congress in the past I have a difficult time believing anything they say. When I see Holder punished, I’ll believe in them a little bit again.
Is there anything O’Bama could have done that would have given more appearance of guilt than to wait until the last minute when the threat of contempt charges would normally have drawn out the communications? No, maybe had he gone under oath and then confessed to wrong-doing that would have a greater appearance of guilt.
You may remember, Fred, that John Stennis and Sam Rayburn ended up having to go to the Supreme Court to get around Nixon.

There is no doubt in my mind that Obama was involved in this from the beginning and he let Holder drag it out as long as possible before invoking the executive privilege so he could push this beyond the election. This may be the most corrupt regime in history and I wonder what they could possibly do if given another four years.

I fear you’re right in that he may use Executive Orders to maintain his position as POTUS. Another scenario could be a national crisis may suddenly take place and Martial Law enacted which will prevent the elections from taking place. When the “crisis” is averted by his superior leadership and with approval ratings high, elections will then be allowed to take place.
