Obama asserts executive privilege
WASHINGTON (AP) – The Justice Dept says that President Barack Obama has asserted executive privilege to withhold documents a House committee is seeking in an investigation of a flawed gun-smuggling probe.
In a letter to Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., a Justice Department official said the privilege applies to documents that explain how the department learned that there were problems with the investigation called Operation Fast and Furious.
Executive privilege. Well I’ll be damned … we should have expected it.
Haven’t I been saying, for quite some time now, Obama WILL resort to *Executive ORDERS* in order to maintain his position as POTUS? And now, to protect those that serve within his CORRUPT regime?
One of the best comments I have seen so far, and yeah, it’s early, but so far my buddy Grant Stinchfield has taken the prize, “If the President claims he had no conversations or awareness about “Fast and Furious” how can he claim “Executive Privilege” as a reason for the AG not to turn over documents to The House Committee Investigators? I firmly believe the Presidents use of Executive Privilege in this case is unconstitutional.”
Grant made that comment on Facebook, and if you’re a true Conservative and you’re not familiar with Grant, look him up.
Another Facebook buddy, Lew Waters, said, “Il Duce Obama steps in to protect one of his own and the cover-up continues.”
*Il Duce* was the nickname of Benito Mussolini, the Fascist Italian dictator from WWII days. Mussolini was shot and killed by Communist leaders in Italy. Just goes to show you, a Fascist dictator can’t trust anyone, even the Commies. Just sayin’…
It’s the first time Obama has used executive privilege since taking office, and a White House aide said the president had gone longer without asserting the privilege in a congressional dispute than any other president in the last three decades.
Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), the chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, said his panel was “evaluating” a letter from Deputy Attorney General James Cole asserting the privilege that arrived minutes before Issa’s committee was to begin contempt proceedings. The vote was to take place Wednesday after a last-ditch effort to reach a deal over documents related to Operation Fast and Furious failed on Tuesday night. SOURCE
Let me ask ALL of you a question; wasn’t Barack Hussein Obama touted as saying that HIS administration was going to be the most transparent administration ever? Does THIS look like transparency to you?
The Justice Department requested that Obama assert the privilege in refusing to turn certain documents over to Congress concerning the botched gun smuggling operation.
The news comes as House Republicans consider holding Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt over the Fast and Furious dispute. SOURCE
WHAT ARE YOU HIDING OBAMA?
And then we have this:
Rep. Darrell Issa said Wednesday that he is pressing ahead with a committee vote to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress, despite an 11th-hour move by President Obama to exert executive privilege over the Fast and Furious documents at the heart of the dispute.
The announcement immediately touched off a caustic debate on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, as Democrats accused Issa of prosecuting a “political witch hunt” and Republicans stepped up their criticism of Holder’s “stonewalling” over the Fast and Furious probe. Even for Washington, the tone at the hearing was decidedly bitter and accusatory.
So, Issa played along for long enough that Obama and Holder are playing the *Executive Privilege* card but Holder still believes he can get somewhere with a *contempt of Congress* hearing.
Do you want to know exactly WHAT is wrong with America?
Look at this entire proceeding, from start to present, look at the incredible failure that our Congress has become, and then look at the most corrupt President since Richard Nixon, and his Department of IN-Justice.
