Senate confirms Kerry nomination for State Dept.

John KerryWASHINGTON (AP) - The Senate overwhelmingly confirmed President Barack Obama’s choice of five-term Sen. John Kerry to be secretary of state, with Republicans and Democrats praising him as the ideal successor to Hillary Rodham Clinton.

The vote Tuesday was 94-3. One senator - Kerry - voted present and accepted congratulations from colleagues on the Senate floor. The roll call came just hours after the Senate Foreign Relations Committee unanimously approved the man who has led the panel for the past four years.

No date has been set for Kerry’s swearing-in, but in a letter to Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick, Kerry says his resignation is effective at 4 p.m. Friday. The State Departments plans a welcoming ceremony for Kerry on Monday.

Obama tapped Kerry, 69, the son of a diplomat, decorated Vietnam veteran and 2004 Democratic presidential candidate, to succeed Clinton, who is stepping down after four years. The Massachusetts Democrat, who had pined for the job but was passed over in 2009, has served as Obama’s unofficial envoy, smoothing fractious ties with Afghanistan and Pakistan.

When you have a Democratic President, one that should go down in history as the biggest disaster this nation has ever suffered, you have to expect that he would nominate a pathetic TRAITOR like John F. Kerry to Secretary of State.

You also have to expect that every Democratic Senator would support and vote FOR the confirmation of a TRAITOR like John F. Kerry, that’s what the Dem/Libbers DO, they support each other regardless of the background.

You would also expect that every Republican or Conservative Senator would vote against the confirmation of a TRAITOR like John F. Kerry, you would think anyway.

Here is the FACT of the matter; 3 Republican Senators voted against the confirmation of John F. Kerry, just 3, and 2 of them are Texas Senators John Cornyn and Ted Cruz. Sen. Jim Inhofe was the other NO vote and I have to say, I am PROUD of these gentlemen and the courage they have exhibited with these votes.

John F. Kerry had a very controversial stint in the military, with many of his actions and combat decorations being called into question as to the legitimacy of his being awarded them.

The accusations of John F. Kerry being a TRAITOR are not some far-fetched accusations of a dedicated Conservative blogger either.

Read this story and make up your own mind. I know that the Dem/Libs reading here already have theirs made up, but that goes back to the Dems backing Dems part that I mentioned earlier, unconditional Party loyalty.

The 1970 meeting that John Kerry conducted with North Vietnamese communists violated U.S. law, according to an author and researcher who has studied the issue.

Kerry met with representatives from “both delegations” of the Vietnamese in Paris in 1970, according to Kerry’s own testimony before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on April 22, 1971. But Kerry’s meetings with the Vietnamese delegations were in direct violation of laws forbidding private citizens from negotiating with foreign powers, according to researcher and author Jerry Corsi, who began studying the anti-war movement in the early 1970s.

According to Corsi, Kerry violated U.S. code 18 U.S.C. 953. “A U.S. citizen cannot go abroad and negotiate with a foreign power,” Corsi told CNSNews.com.

By Kerry’s own admission, he met in 1970 with delegations from the North Vietnamese communist government and discussed how the Vietnam War should be stopped. SOURCE

Gun runners (Fast and Furious), tax cheats, too many to mention, gun grabbers, that would be the majority of the Democratic party, a POTUS that has an incredibly vague background, and now a liar and a traitor as the new Secretary of State, and only 3 Senators had the BALLS to vote against him.

I have NO idea what the future holds in store but it can’t be good. We have people here in Texas that have sworn to turn Texas BLUE, we have them right here in Rowlett, and they are very serious in that effort.

I never thought I would see this nation over-run by Libbers, Socialists, Communists, Marxists and the other assorted scum that make up the Democratic Party.

John Kerry, at the age of 16, sailed with President John Kennedy often.
I have seen this photo many times.
My own views of Kerry equate with what the “swift Boaters”,,, think of him.
Kerry and Jane Fonda are soul mates, and that is all I have to say about this.

The GOP is no longer worthy of my support. One week after the November election I changed my registration to “Independent” after fifty years as a republican. This is the kind of thing that reinforces my belief that the GOP is no longer an adversary of the dems, but has fallen to the Progressives within the Republican Party and is now simply an extension of the Democratic Party.

Our government is full of traitors and has been since Obama first took office. Kerry is just replacing another traitor.(Clinton). Applaud our Texas Senators for facing the heat and doing what was right. However, had Kerry been voted down, Obama would have found another traitor to take his place. This crap won’t end until the Commies/Marxists and Islamists are driven out of DC. Agree with JD, the GOP is complicit in all our country’s problems. Time for a sweeping change.

Morality is a lot like water; always seeking the path of least resistance. Kerry, Clinton, Fonda, and just about every politician that populates the central hub of corruption we call ‘DC’ flows downstream like a river of sewage until they finish in an ocean of ambiguity and confusion.

Selling their votes for future favors, the GOP are nothing more than gullible fools who believe their efforts are noble. I am so done with politicians in general, and support NO party whatsoever. They can all kiss my ass because in the end, they are only motivated by that which will further advance their own wellbeing; in spite of the fact they promised to represent their constituencies.

All I can say about Kerry is at least he isn’t voting on the Senate floor anymore, and I suppose, him being Sec State is a lot safer for us than say, him running for President or something more influential. Hell, he’d have more domestic influence as the White House gardener.

  5. Hgpsurf says:

Longstreet… I agree with you but until there is another party that can defeat the democrats we need to vote for the GOP, like them or not. Both major parties suck but the libber democrats are the worst and we must defeat them or we are sunk. Voting for candidates with no hope of winning just splits the vote and we lose for sure.

As for Kerry, he is a traitor and he fits in well with our traitor president. Let’s also not forget he registered a new yacht in Delaware to avoid taxes in Massachusetts and had the yacht built overseas….figures.

  6. Bloviating Zeppelin says:

Obama went with Kerry in order to sustain and invigorate and verify and buttress Kerry’s veracity when he went against Bush in 2004.

    Hillary was an Underdog: SUPPORTED.

    Kerry was an Underdog: SUPPORTED.

On the good side Barney Frank did not get the Senate seat that Kerry is vacating. William Cowan was appointed instead. And although Cowan is a liberal, he isn’t Barney Frank.
