Houston biggest US city to elect openly gay mayor

HOUSTON (AP) - Houston became the largest U.S. city to elect an openly gay mayor, with voters handing a solid victory to City Controller Annise Parker after a hotly contested runoff.

Several other U.S. cities, including Portland, Ore., Providence, R.I., and Cambridge, Mass., have openly gay mayors, but none are as large as Houston.

“This election has changed the world for the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered community. Just as it is about transforming the lives of all Houstonians for the better, and that’s what my administration will be about,” Parker told supporters after her opponent, Gene Locke, conceded defeat.

Parker’s victory comes after several setbacks for gay rights activists. New York lawmakers earlier this month rejected a bill that would have made their state the sixth to allow gay marriage. In November, Maine voters repealed the Legislature’s passage of a state law allowing same-sex marriage there.

Houston biggest US city to elect openly gay mayor

This post, and MY attitude concerning queers, of BOTH sexes, may cost me some readers and a few *so-called* friends. Too bad.

I posted a brief link about this on Facebook last night, I had several comments on it this morning. One was from a fellow Texan that said:

Finally, I’m not as “militant” (sorry, but it’s the best word I could come up with) about homosexuals. I don’t agree or approve of their CHOICE, but as long as they don’t push the issue on me, I will basically agree with the old saying “live and let live”. Those that are in the group I “tolerate” are VERY FEW. If you want to see my definition of “tolerance”, I’d love more visits at my blog. Sadly, the post I had up a long while ago is no longer there, so in the next few days, I’ll be re-posting my “tolerance vs. acceptance” post.

You may not be *militant*, that’s pretty obvious, but I have to tell you, in MY opinion, tolerance IS acceptance. And to accept that these perverts don’t ALL have an agenda is not acceptable to me nor to the vast majority of REAL Conservatives.

Yesterday I made a post, Fistgate and Kevin Jennings – Obama’s Safe Schools Czar, pointing out the agenda and history of Obama’s buddy. As I said, they ALL have an agenda, and that agenda is to impose their vile lifestyle on ALL of America, and to somehow convince the American people that what they are doing is normal.

What these people are doing is NOT normal, and far too many Americans just don’t care. It’s called QUEER for a reason. I will leave ALL religious references OUT of this, the libbers and queers don’t buy into them anyway, but if their behavior is normal, let me ask you this, where would the human race be in 3 or 4 generations if everyone on earth *went queer*?

Can you say extinction of OF the human race?

Male homosexuals want to marry other male homosexuals, female homosexuals want to marry other female homosexuals, and then the maternal instincts kick in. So a kid gets adopted and is raised in a liberal environment where that child is taught that being a homosexual is an OK thing to do and an entirely acceptable lifestyle. THAT is the agenda! You can’t convince people like me that their behavior is OK, but a highly impressionable child is a different story.

They ARE pushing the homosexual agenda, some just not as radically as others.

While gay rights issues were not a focus of Parker’s campaign, she began her political career as a gay activist. She campaigned against the passage of a constitutional ban on same-sex marriage in 2005 and has said she supports gay marriage and continuing a city ordinance prohibiting discrimination based on sexual orientation.

Did Annise Parker suddenly stop being a *gay activist*? I don’t think so. And do you suppose that now that she has become the Mayor of Houston she will put her homosexual activism in the closet? Pun intended.

Houston is predominantly Democratic and about 25 percent black and one-third Hispanic. About 60,000 of its residents identify themselves as gay or lesbian.

I guess Houston has become Homo Heaven. Tolerance will do that for a city. And wouldn’t you love to see the voting record of all those 60K queers? I’ll bet you there was a turnout like none before.

Do I have a definite prejudice against homosexuals? You’re damned right I do. I detest them, male and female, and I believe their sexual orientation and practices to be a perverse illness. I do NOT buy the excuse of being born that way. I believe they are living their lives because of personal choices and preferences.

There are many in America that tolerate homosexuality. They don’t believe, or can’t see that this sickness is destroying the very fabric of our nation. These people claim to embrace diversity. What they embrace is APATHY.

It’s easier to proclaim your tolerance than it is to take a stand. It’s easier to sit back and watch Dancing With the Stars, America’s Got Talent and to be consumed by who Tiger Woods had an affair with than it is to take a stand against the homosexual agenda and the sexual permissiveness that is giving this nation over to total apathy.

If my views offend you, exercise your option to LEAVE, and don’t come back. If I have offend you with my views of homosexuality, go to your blog and write a post telling all 3 or 4 of the readers you have what a repulsive knuckle-dragging Conservative homophobe I am. Just be sure and get it right, use quotes and citation.

I don’t like them either…but it appears that 99% of them flaming fags are Democrats or Liberals…..so maybe in another 40 yrs those parties will become extinct and we will not have to deal with either of them or their parties.

You are right…they all have an agenda, and it appears they try to push theirs more onto me than I push mine on them.

Isn’t this a pretty much telling statistic?

“Parker defeated Locke with 53.6 percent of the vote Saturday in a race that had a turnout of only 16.5 percent. Locke had hoped to become the city’s second black mayor.

A little more than 152,000 residents turned out to cast ballots in the nation’s fourth largest city, which has a population of 2.2 million. Of those voters, 81,743 chose Parker - some 11,000 more than voted for Locke.”

Looks like the majority of Houston residents just do not give a damn who is their mayor. Or maybe with the choice being between a gay and a black…..they made their views known by not voting. Who knows?

All I know for sure is given a choice of a gay or an illegal to be my friend…I will take the gay any day of the week. The good thing about America is we are free to voice our opinions. Fred has his and I have mine, and while they do not have to be the same, I will certainly fight for the right to express them.

This is only one side of Fred’s many faceted personality and if it offends someone enough for them to leave…..so be it. I have yet to find anyone on this earth that agrees with me on all my views. Would be a sad place to live if everyone were that narrow minded that only their views mattered or were correct.

Blog on Fred…..if I do not like what you say….hell, I can always skip the post!!!! *grin*

Promoting the homosexual agenda may just be a back door to population control, but the downside will be fewer Democrats, but the loss there will be made up by giving illegals the vote. Heck, millions of them are already voting in CA. The big cities are bastions for the libbers, so I don’t really draw any conclusions about this election. Now had this occured in “Hot Coffee”, Mississippi (yes, there is such a town) I would view that as a sea change. Personally I have very use for gays and avoid them when possible. I do detest them attempting to push their life style on other Americans and especially the young. My feelings are simple, leave me and mine alone and keep your twisted ideas out of the schools and away from the courthouse square. Pull it out or put it in, in your own bedrooms or in your gay bars, where straight shooters don’t have to watch!

Got home from church, saw this headline in the paper, and thought to myself “I’ll bet Fred has a post up about his already.”

    Shore ’nuff.

And, I also find the “lifestyle” choice detestable, to the point where I wrote off a high school friend because he “came out” and claimed he had been gay all his life.

    Rubbish.

You cannot tell me that a creator (leaving out who’s idea of “creator” we are talking about) would create a being that had no interest in continuing the species. That would be very short-sighted design, wouldn’t it?

I was pissed off about this last night, had to calm down before I could write a post that didn’t make me BAN myself!! :D

  6. comment number 6 by: Bluebonnet Sue

Fred, I’m still laughing at your comment about banning your self! :-)

I find the lifestyle so dispicable that I can’t even come up with a word to describe it…offensive…repulsive…loathsome… and such do not even come close to expressing my feelings about it but, I am wondering…how many would write off a son or daughter or grandchild if he or she were gay?

  7. comment number 7 by: Don

You know Fred, if you ban yourself too much, you will go blind… :P

  8. comment number 8 by: campingshadow

Truth be known, I bet you know lots of people that are gay or at least bi and you do not know it because they keep their sexual preferences to themselves. What you do not know will not hurt you. My big question is how come so many guys say they cannot stand lesbians….yet they are the first to say they get turned on watching two girls get it on together…..especially if they are included in the action? Hmmmmm, don’t find much of that in nature either.

  9. comment number 9 by: TexasFred

Campingshadow, I don’t believe that has been said here at all…

I don’t care who it is, male or female, it is WRONG…

Damn Fred , It’s been awhile. I hate this is the article that finally made me post again. I don’t disagree with you in the least, Faggots and lesbians make me sick, having a 30 year old brother “coming out” makes me sicker. There is a place for them!, not in politcs.(insert evil smiley face here). Bluebonnet Sue, you don’t disown them, you live with family, you listen to their bullshit, and you try your best to change them.

I have more of a problem in recent years because of the Gay Pride stuff. It seems their idea of pride is trying to push their miserable lifestyle on others, especially young kids. I think back to the pervs in Sodom who wanted to force themselves on the 2 angels visiting at Lot’s house. Most of us who have read the Bible know how THAT story ended. If God is infuriated by that behavior, that’s good enough for me.

Being a Massachusetts resident, I’m really upset by the fact that Massachusetts is being used as a testing site for many of Obama’s, liberal, democrat and czars sponsored programs. In an effort to reduce the morality, honestly, integrity, sexual and religious preface of our citizens and children. Now with the pervs, queers, fags and lesbians forcing their lifestyle on high schoolers as part of a supposed educational advancement program. I have reached my limit of outrage and disappointment in our elected and appointed officials. I’ll be doing all I can to block their nomination, preliminary and election participation. Call, write, fax or visit your represenatives and tell them NO, this is not American supported education. Put propaganda being released by fringe groups with an agenda to influence American youth.
Some of these sexuall programs and how to kits maybe illegal when distributed to minor’s. mjbell1

Mjbell1… come on over to Indiana. As far as I know, we are still a red state and don’t have all that stuff going on yet! Or better yet… move to Texas!! I’ll probably meet you there if they succeed from the Union!!!

  14. comment number 14 by: Bluebonnet Sue

JTEX… I agree with you….you still love them and hope someday they will listen to what you have to say. So far I haven’t had to deal with it… and I pray that I never will… but I have friends who are dealing with it and it isn’t easy.

  15. comment number 15 by: Always On Watch

Years ago, a friend was staying with us. This friend was one of the biggest drunks in town, but whatever.

One morning, the news announced one of those stories about the rights of homosexuals and how important it is for us to accept them. Our friend sat up, quite hung over, and announced, “It’s the death of the human race.”

    Wisdom in his fog, huh?

Homosexuals used to be discreet. Now they’re in our faces and prancing up and down the streets. I can’t stand it.

  16. comment number 16 by: Longstreet

…And we wonder why the nation is in the shape it is in today??? Just how thick-headed are we, anyway?
    JDL

  17. comment number 17 by: brwnavy

Ditto’s Longstreet and Always On Watch. Our moral compass has ceased to function thanks to the banning of God from all we hold sacred.
There is a price to pay for this nonsense and we will see it in our children.

Homosexuality is sick. Period. And I don’t give a damn if you agree with me or not. It’s a desecration of God’s word and teachings.

  18. comment number 18 by: mrchuck

One of the worst things about openly homosexuals is that they can NEVER get a high level security clearance.
I don’t care who you are, a top security clearance will be denied.

The reason is that all queers can be compremised,
therefore can never keep a secret,,,,,secret.

This is a fact in the security community.
Even the tales about J. Edgar Hoover were true, and he was past over. He did not lose his job because he knew where the bodies were buried on many important people.

  19. comment number 19 by: Patrick Sperry

And that has stopped the obamanure types from getting a clearance mrchuck?
During the 90′s in the Denver area there was all this gay crap going on, and we were being force fed their agenda. Well? When I wrote the final draft for response to MCI’s it got stamped “Confidential” at the outset, and later “Top Secret” by the FBI reviewers. Naturally, the gay contingent were excluded from the program, and policy development downstream from that plan.

Then bat shit crazy Governor Roy Romer ordered a “sanitized” version to be written… One that the carpet munchers and butt tonguers would be allowed to read… And people wonder why the hell Colorado has had such a piss poor record when it comes to MCI incidents such as Columbine..?

  20. comment number 20 by: Annie Oakley

THIS is 1 big issue bothering me right now. Yeah, ya lose friends, who gives a shit? Everytime I say something about queers the numbers on my list drop & a Bible Thumper hits me! They want proof, I can show them the Biblical proof!! If these so called “straight ppl” & “Christians” don’t grow a spine, they’re letting queers be heard. I’d rather run over a gay w/ my big 4×4, look in the rearview mirror and say “Whoops, hit that speedbump hard, hope my shocks are alright!” It’s all bullshit when “straight” ppl stand up for homo’s. BUT, here’s the thing. They ain’t really straight, deep down they have some queer in them so watch out when youre around them. BOHICA= Bend Over Here It C_MS Again!! I honestly think those ppl are bisexual or they wouldn’t be so defensive. This is screwed up!!

HOOSIERMOM….We’re (Indy) still a red state BUT my kid’s a Senior in ECHS (SE Ind) and he said there’s homos walking around making out, holding hands, etc…….These are all cornfed country boys too, very little city kids. Teach your kids now while they’re young, it WILL get worse.
But if ya’ll move to Texas, give me a shout. I might follow you, lol.
