Tea Party Federation kicks out Williams over blog post

Here’s the FULL story:

(CNN) — The National Tea Party Federation, an organization that represents the Tea Party political movement around the country, has expelled conservative commentator Mark Williams and his Tea Party Express because of an inflammatory blog post he wrote, federation spokesman David Webb said Sunday.

Appearing on the CBS program “Face the Nation,” Webb said that Williams and the Tea Party Express — which has held a series of events across the country to generate support for the movement — no longer were part of the National Tea Party Federation.

“We, in the last 24 hours, have expelled Tea Party Express and Mark Williams from the National Tea Party Federation because of the letter that he wrote,” Webb said of the blog post by Williams that satirized a fictional letter from what he called “Colored People” to President Abraham Lincoln.

Webb called the blog post “clearly offensive.”

Williams did not immediately respond to a request for comment Sunday afternoon.

Williams wrote the blog post in response to a resolution by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) that called on Tea Party leaders to crack down on racist elements in the movement.

The NAACP, the nation’s main group advocating civil rights for African Americans, cited signs carried at Tea Party events and racial slurs reportedly shouted at black congress members during an event as some examples of racism in the movement.

The announcement by Webb on a Sunday talk show demonstrated that the public outcry over the issue had resonated with the Tea Party movement, and indicated a possible split within its leadership.

On the same program, NAACP President Benjamin Jealous called for other Tea Party leaders besides Webb, who is African American, to come out against racist elements in the movement.

“Dear Mr. Lincoln,” began the fictional letter posted by Williams. “We Coloreds have taken a vote and decided that we don’t cotton to that whole emancipation thing. Freedom means having to work for real, think for ourselves, and take consequences along with the rewards. That is just far too much to ask of us Colored People and we demand that it stop!”

Williams went on to write that the Tea Party movement couldn’t be racist because it opposed government bailouts for Wall Street banks and big corporations.

“Bailouts are just big money welfare and isn’t that what we want all Coloreds to strive for?” the posting said. “What kind of racist would want to end big money welfare? What they need to do is start handing the bail outs directly to us coloreds!”

Williams, a conservative talk radio host, said the post was intended as satire. He took it down as criticism mounted.

Mark Williams is from my neck of the woods, Sacramento, Fornicalia; I sat with him on the panel of the first meeting for what was to become The Sacramento Citizen newspaper — an attempted replacement for the old and revered Sacramento Union. I was clearly not in their political league. Since then, The Sacramento Citizen has, unfortunately, fizzled out.

Mark Williams also had a talk show for a number of years and is a veteran not only of radio but of Conservative -actual CONSERVATIVE views.

Do I support Mark? Do I think he’s a racist? Very easy for me: YES and NO.

I suppose, for example, that Bill Cosby can write the obvious but Mark Williams, with a bit of jest and tongue-in-cheek cannot?

Oh, yes, that’s right, he CAN’T write or speak the truth because he happens to be WHITE. Even though what he writes or advocates just might be to the benefit of blacks nationwide.

Hey Fred, let me ask YOU this: do YOU think TEA Parties are, more and more, comprised of people who are more PC than they are concerned with actual implementation of plans that are likely to salvage the nation? TEA Parties who are, more and more, concerned with how Leftists will “perceive” them?

    Just askin’ . . .

    Ok. Just what is this?

    What the hell is this?

Ugh. It burdens my mind to see such stupid, dumb, idiotic people operating our media machine today. Where has investigative reporting gone? Where is it? This is one of the main reasons that Obama got elected right here. It’s right in front of us. Our media is run by politics and pure politics alone. Their articles come from the lips of Obama and the far left himself.

They will not stop until we are gone and destroyed. They’re doing their best to use the media as a tool, as their little pawn to divide and destroy us. Little does the media that they know that are simply adding themselves to the ranks of the far left and the extremism that the rest of America is growing sick of.

I love the response of the interviewee by the way. Just get up and walk away. That’s the only way you can argue with these panzies: You don’t talk to them at all.

They have sold their soul to our corrupt media system.

Yes, I do believe that the TEA Party is eat up with PC people that are far too concerned with their image. They like to, as my good friend Dr. Bacon says, meet, greet, eat and retreat…

America needs saving here, I don’t give a damn if I have to be un-PC in doing so, hell BZ, you know me, I’m never too terribly concerned with PCness…

And being called a racist, by the likes of the asshats that throw those accusations around, is nothing new, they have worn it out and made it irrelevant… Just like the boy that cried *WOLF*…

By the way, if anyone cares to read what Mark Williams has to say himself on the incident, one can always go here, which is a link I have on my own blog. You can find Mark Williams on the blogroll under “California Links.”

If anyone cares to indulge in the truth, I might suggest this.

    Comment #3 from BZ:

Make no mistake, ladies and gentlemen. . .

Leftists and Demorats and Progressives have NO OTHER tactic to employ —

From NOW until NOVEMBER. . .

But to denigrate the TEA Party in all its forms and portray them again and again and again as Racists Racists Racists Racists Racists Racists.

The Race Card is what you pull when you lack logic and a cogent argument and are unwilling to engage in dialogue.

That will be the MAJOR Talking Point from the Left until November. Adjust for it and expect it.

This is one of the main reasons I’m not a ‘joiner’! I do and say what I like and they’re is no one to call me to account for what I’ve said or done. Not that it would matter anyway, as I don’t respond well criticism by anyone about anything.

And BTW racism is a way of life and always has been for all races, but now only whites are racist. What a crock of steaming dog-shit.

The country club set. The hoity toity bunch of bastards, with their political correctness of wanting to put diapers on horses because they just cannot stand to see an animal pooping, should be hit with a shovel of shit. These are the same caliber of people that were attending balls and kissing the King’s ass when the real people were fighting for a new country.

If anybody needs to be thrown out of the Tea Party it’s this bunch of politically correct assholes that are afraid the lame ass news media might just call them a derogatory name. Screw them AND the news media shitheads.

As of today, my funding to them has dried up and gone elsewhere.

  8. comment number 8 by: TexasFred

Vigilante, some TEA Parties really are trying to make a difference, at least, *some* of the members are, but as you said, then there’s the Country Club Set

It’s taken everything I can do to keep from going totally OFF on some of them in our group here in Texas… Namby-pamby gutless members that talk and talk and talk, and then talk some more…

Leadership, so-called leadership, that shows up late, if at all…

Gutless talkers that are afraid of offending…

Well by God, some people NEED to be offended. If you want an omelette, ya gotta break a few eggs… I’m in the process of breaking a few eggs…

    Bon Appetite’…

  9. comment number 9 by: Vigilante

    Kudos to you Fred.
I know you are exasperated as I am with these namby pamby asses that want to “reach across the aisle” and be all nicey nicey, only to get their frikken hand slapped, spun around, and their pants jerked down for their daily dose of reality but they’ll never learn because they’ve been dumbed down to believe otherwise. Screw em.

The “Tea Party” movement stepped on their collective dicks in this instance. They did just what the left wanted by fighting amongst themselves and giving some credence that there is racism within their ranks. With this response, they have weakened their movement. What they should have done is keep their collective mouths shut and kept concentrating on the goal of throwing the bums out in Nov. Never air your dirty laundry. One movement; one goal! Now drive on and think before you speak!

  11. comment number 11 by: TexasFred

If anyone is in doubt that what Minuteman26 says isn’t true, see this: Democratic Underground

The response from DU is almost orgasmic, the TEA Party has *proven* they are racist and so forth…

I have long said, if the TEA Party wants to succeed they have to get AWAY from the GOP, not embrace the GOP’s way of doing business…

The National Federation has shot us ALL in the foot with this little exhibition..

Be sure to take a look at the mixed response from Free Republic too.

What’s interesting to me about this whole incident is that people are actually surprised by ones mouth.

Unfortunately this did more harm than good, and in the worst time.

But I think the question is why would one be brought to this level of speaking out against others or race? What drove him to that; is it the free handouts that this country continues to give? Or is it how the country wants poverty?

How many times have you gone to the grocery store and watched the person in front of you get three baskets of food and then they whip out a lone star card to pay for it? At that point in time you realize that individual is eating better than you.

Then you notice that they also drive better vehicles than you and on top of that they are living in assisted living. Then you realizing we are paying for them to sit on their ass and do nothing while you and I are struggling to get by and provide food for our own family at night.

What really gets me is the sense of self entitlement from other groups. All wants us to be one and act as one but how can you merge together when groups do things to intentionally separate. When is this going to be enough?

How much do you and I or our kids have to pay for someone’s laziness or stupidity? Maybe they are not the stupid ones; maybe it’s us that are stupid because we have a sense of tolerance. We expect it to go away and not have to do anything about it.

So as the media try’s to destroy this man’s life because he said something that one thinks is out of line, what is really behind his message? What brought him to those words? The answer to the question I have is I think that people’s tolerance levels are starting to become short, because things are being forced on us that we don’t want, and then we see others just take everything but never try to become better.

minuteman26 is absolutely correct. The National Federation just gave credence to the NAACP’s resolution.

  14. comment number 14 by: Katie

BobF is right. This was the wrong move for the Tea Party. Another reason why I refuse to join.

  15. comment number 15 by: PatriotUSA

Main reason I have not joined or had much to do with them. Not all are bad, like Fred and many of us know but this played right into the
leftard’s hands and at perhaps the worst time.

BZ, is right on target. Thi is what they have left to resort to.
The s-t will only get deeper and dirtier until NOvember.

Democratic Underground: I cannot use that sort of laguage here.
    Disgusting.
