AP Exclusive: CIA whisked detainees from Gitmo

WASHINGTON (AP) - Four of the nation’s most highly valued terrorist prisoners were secretly moved to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, in 2003, years earlier than has been disclosed, then whisked back into overseas prisons before the Supreme Court could give them access to lawyers, The Associated Press has learned.

The transfer allowed the U.S. to interrogate the detainees in CIA “black sites” for two more years without allowing them to speak with attorneys or human rights observers or challenge their detention in U.S. courts. Had they remained at the Guantanamo Bay prison for just three more months, they would have been afforded those rights.

“This was all just a shell game to hide detainees from the courts,” said Jonathan Hafetz, a Seton Hall University law professor who has represented several detainees.

Removing them from Guantanamo Bay underscores how worried President George W. Bush’s administration was that the Supreme Court might lift the veil of secrecy on the detention program. It also shows how insistent the Bush administration was that terrorists must be held outside the U.S. court system.

Worried the Supreme Court would lift the veil of secrecy on the detention program?

Seriously? That’s the best you guys at AP can come up with?

Years later, the program’s legacy continues to complicate President Barack Obama’s efforts to prosecute the terrorists behind the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

Yes, it does complicate Barack Hussein Obama’s efforts to prosecute the terrorists responsible for the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. It makes it a difficult task for Obama to give his Muslim brothers the same rights as a U.S. citizen. It makes it a lot more difficult for Eric Holder to find some loophole that will allow him to release these Islamic terrorists!

The arrival and speedy departure from Guantanamo were pieced together by the AP using flight records and interviews with current and former U.S. officials and others familiar with the CIA’s detention program. All spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss the program.

Did any of you ever watch a movie called *A Few Good Men*?

The lead character is a bleeding heart wuss lawyer and he used the flight records from Gitmo to Washington, D.C. as the basis for his analysis into the habits of Col. Jessup. I think someone at the top of THIS investigation may have actually watched that movie and may have paid some attention. It sounds like this AP story was written by a Hollywood screen writer to me.

Top officials at the White House, Justice Department, Pentagon and CIA consulted on the prisoner transfer, which was so secretive that even many people close to the CIA detention program were kept in the dark.

Keeping people in the dark is what the CIA does. It’s what makes the CIA a viable and useful group of people. It’s what keeps them alive and what keeps this nation, and some of OUR little secrets safe. Again, I think someone may have been watching the movies or reading the comic strip Doonesbury.

When we, as a nation, and a government, have become so politically correct, so afraid of world opinion, that we place the comfort and care of a terrorist above the safety of our nation, our people, our troops and our way of life, I am forced to say that America has surely lost it’s way.

Before dawn on Sept. 24, 2003, a white, unmarked Boeing 737 landed at Guantanamo Bay. At least four al-Qaida operatives, some of the CIA’s biggest captures to date, were aboard: Abu Zubaydah, Abd al-Nashiri, Ramzi Binalshibh and Mustafa al-Hawsawi.

Well, that’s reassuring, a white, unmarked Boeing 737. For a very long time now we have been told, repeatedly, by the moonbats and tin foil hat crowd on the left that the CIA used BLACK, unmarked helicopters.

The agency’s overseas prison network, meanwhile, was in flux. A jail in Thailand known as Cat’s Eye closed in December 2002, and in the fall of 2003 the CIA was preparing to shutter its facility in Poland and open a new one in Romania. Human rights investigators and journalists were asking questions. The CIA needed to reshuffle its prisoners.

Do you REALLY want to know what’s wrong with America? Really?

THIS is whats wrong with America; human rights investigators, journalists that are asking loaded questions and the PC asshats that love the TERRORISTS that are killing Americans! This is WHY we haven’t been a decisive victor in ANY military engagement since WWII. That, my friends, pretty much sums it up.

We are in a War Against TERROR. Some are afraid to call it TERROR because the word terror strikes fear in the hearts of the weak-minded tree huggers and bleeding heart libbers among us.

Some are afraid to use the word TERROR because they don’t want to offend their Muslim fan base. Some prefer to call War on Terror an Overseas Contingency Operation. Some prefer to call terrorist attacks a Man-Caused Disaster.

Some are afraid to use the term Islamic Terrorist or Islamic attackers to describe the people that carried out the attacks of September 11, 2001.

Well, here’s a very un-PC bit of information for those people that are afraid of the truth; those attacks were not carried out by members of ANY Christian religion, they were planned, trained for, paid for and carried out by MUSLIM Terrorists!

Barack Hussein Obama, and his leftist regime, will not call this what it is. They are gutless. They are afraid of offending the enemies of this nation (Islam) that have sworn to take America down. They are cowards of the 1st order and are, in my opinion, guilty of failing to protect this nation from ALL enemies, foreign and domestic.

The regime of Barack Hussein Obama is, in MY not so humble opinion, the biggest DOMESTIC enemy that America has ever faced.

WASHINGTON — Federal indictments unsealed Thursday in Minnesota, Alabama and California charge 14 people with terrorism offenses connected to the Islamist al-Shabab organization in Somalia.

Attorney General Eric Holder said the charges reflect a disturbing trend in which al-Shabab, which has links to Osama bin Laden’s al-Qaida network, has appealed to U.S. citizens of Somali descent to join the group’s battle against a weak U.S.-backed transitional government and African Union peacekeeping forces. SOURCE

I can only imagine the great pain this must have caused Barack Hussein Obama. The man can only endure so much. He had to muddle through spending his birthday without his wife and children because they were on holiday in Spain, so he found solace with Oprah Winfrey.

The nation is going to HELL in a hand basket. So, Barack Hussein Obama sends his wife, and her HUGE entourage to Spain, at OUR expense, while he has a birthday party with Oprah.

Lovely, just freaking LOVELY, that is leadership… And the RAPE of America continues…

Good one for the CIA. Sounds like there are some people in that organization still trying to keep this country safe. Agree with Fred, the Obama administration is the biggest threat we have to this nation right now.

I get that journalists are supposed to be the public watch dog over our government officials. With that being said - when our national security is at stake - it is no holds barred. Screw the freakin’ journalists. Some national secrets are supposed to be secrets.

I’m still looking for that same scrutiny of this administration from those journalists that we saw the last 8 years. Assholes, all of them.

    Spot on, Fred.

Too bad the white Boeing had seats installed-they should’ve handcuffed them to each other and attached the smallest one (ISLAMIC TERRORIST) to the underside of the aircraft for the (undisclosed) flight out of Cuba…
Just my two cents…(and BHO has taxed away about everything else BUT MY TWO CENTS!) :P

NO, hafetz you piece of scummy shit. It was WHAT was supposed to been done. You’re just pissed off because you couldn’t sink your money grubbing filthy assed hands into a high priced court case for YOUR monetary benefit at the expense of the American tax payers, and, because you REALLY don’t give a flying fuck about any terrorist, except what money you can extort out of the deal.

Way ta go Fred. Hammer their ass good my friend.

I had not heard this. Good for us. We should have “whisked away” all of them so we would not be looking at these show trials in New York City. It’s shameful.
