Obama pledges US to defend its ally South Korea

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama on Tuesday pledged the United States would defend South Korea after what the White House branded a provocative, outrageous attack by North Korea on its neighbor. Its options limited, the U.S. sought a diplomatic rather a military response to one of those most ominous clashes between the Koreas in decades.

“South Korea is our ally. It has been since the Korean war,” Obama said in his first comments about the North Korean shelling of a South Korean island. “And we strongly affirm our commitment to defend South Korea as part of that alliance.”

Working to head off any escalation, the U.S. did not reposition any of its 29,000 troops in the South or make other military moves after North Korea fired salvos of shells into the island, setting off an artillery duel between the two sides.

The president, speaking to ABC News, would not speculate when asked about military options. He was expected to telephone South Korean President Lee Myung-bak late Tuesday night. He met earlier with his top national security advisers to discuss next steps.

Obama pledges US to defend its ally South Korea

Ladies and Gentlemen, I submit to you that Barack Hussein Obama is a two-faced, duplicitous, no good, America hating liar and a despicable son of a bitch! I do NOT parse my words in saying so, and unlike some in Congress, I will NOT make my statement and then apologize.

If Barack Hussein Obama wants to try and run that line of BS, “And we strongly affirm our commitment to defend South Korea as part of that alliance.” by the American people, and if he actually expects the American people to believe his hollow words, I only want to ask the people of this nation one thing.

What has Barack Hussein Obama done to protect America so far?

This stealth Muslim piece of garbage pledges that the USA will defend its ally, South Korea, yet we’re not able to defend ourselves.

Has the government given us any believable explanation regarding the ‘contrail‘ that appeared 35 miles off of the California coast earlier this month?

Most government sources sound like they are actors in the Men in Black movies; ‘ It was swamp gas that refracted off of the sunset and interacted with the reflected light from Venus’. That’s their idea of an explanation.

The last time our nation was this threatened was under the administration of Bill Clinton.

Bill and Hillary decided, and yes, she was in on the decision making process (SOURCE), THEY decided that it was just a peachy keen idea to cut our military and intelligence services to the bone. We had satellites, why then did we need troops and intelligence operatives?

That was a tragic mistake on the part of the Clinton’s and their shared presidency. It is a decision that, in MY opinion, was one of the reasons the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001 were made possible.

So far, to the best of my knowledge, Obama hasn’t made that faux pas, yet.

Washington has relatively few options when dealing with Pyongyang. Military action is particularly unappealing, since the unpredictable North possesses crude nuclear weapons as well as a huge standing army. North Korea exists largely outside the system of international financial and diplomatic institutions that the U.S. has used as leverage in dealing with other hostile countries, including Iran.

So, I ask again, if we can’t control the activities of the drug cartels and ILLEGALS right here in America, if we can’t stop the flow of drugs and ILLEGALS that are entering our own nation, how then are we going to control a rogue nation like North Korea?

North Korea has also resisted pressure from its major ally, China, which appears to be nervous about the signs of instability in its neighbor.

If North Korea is resisting pressure from China, if they have that much gall, does Barack Hussein Obama actually believe that he can somehow exert pressure on the North Koreans and with the wave of a hand, just make this all go away?

“We strongly condemn the attack and we are rallying the international community to put pressure on North Korea,” Obama said in the ABC interview, specifically citing the need for China’s help. Obama said every nation in the region must know “this is a serious and ongoing threat.”

I’m pretty sure that ‘strong condemnation’ has Kim Jung Il and his spawn, Kim Jung Un, trembling in their shoes.

Some are saying that North Korea is much akin to an impertinent and evil child. The North Koreans do these things from time to time simply to get attention. Like the kid that burns the house down, and when asked WHY they burned the house down, they reply, “Mommy wasn’t paying attention to me. She’ll pay attention to me now!”

North Korea threw a temper tantrum, and the world is paying attention.

The North Koreans don’t understand, nor fear, condemnation. They live with condemnation, global condemnation, and it doesn’t seem to affect them in the least. The have little to lose. They are not a world class producer of anything. The only way the adult North Korean can eat and keep a roof over his head is to be a member of the huge standing army that the media loves to mention on a regular basis.

In his phone call to South Korea’s defense minister, Gates said the U.S. viewed recent attacks as a violation of the armistice agreement that ended the Korea War in 1953, and he reiterated the U.S. commitment to South Korea’s defense, said Pentagon press secretary Geoff Morrell.

Let’s be very blunt about this incident. ALL activities by the North Koreans could be brought to an immediate halt if 3 or 4 MOABs, that incredibly powerful “Mother of all Bombs” that we have in our arsenal, were dropped on Pyongyang. There’s no need to nuke the North Koreans, 3 or 4 MOABs, dropped with strategic precision, would fully decimate the North Korean capital.

Cut off the head and the body dies. It’s that simple.

Sadly, the dropping of bombs on Pyongyang, even conventional bombs, will not happen under the administration of the coward in the White House! He may talk them to death. He may buy them off with some newly printed American dollars. He may even take a trip to Pyongyang in order to make a personal apology, but that’s about as far as it will ever go under the regime of the Socialist in Chief.

I like the MOAB Idea, but you said it. No nuts in DC means the MOABS will collect dust forever.

All I keep hearing is “The Norks have a huge army, they spend one quarter of their GDP on the military, they have nukes and they have China” well I guess we just let them do whatever the hell they want to do then. Move our soldiers off station and turn our backs because they are too big to fail…

America was a great place once, now we have gotten so soft. Our Military is still the best the world has ever seen. It’s our elected officials and our population that needs a wake up call. There used to be a thing called “Supporting your friends” Obama has turned that to “Fu*K your friends and apologies to your enemies”

    How’s that working out?

2012 can’t come soon enough Fred, and if the GOP in it’s limited capacity NOW can’t prove itself, 2012 will not see any change.

    ……..so right you are Fred!
    I like this part….

“and we are rallying the international community to put pressure on North Korea,ďż˝? Obama said in the ABC interview, ”

    Bwahahahaha
A strongly worded letter (all caps) cutting all diamond, caviar, and tofu imports to them should do the trick.

That piece of muslim trash couldn’t rally a bunch of dung beetles to a huge pile of shit. He should know by his past dealings that the other nations are NOT about to help this mack daddy, and will just go through the civil motions of attempting to agree with him at the UN and then laugh like hell behind his back. He should be impeached for the whole dam worlds sake and needs a BIG “L” tatooed on his forehead.

Don’t hold your collective breaths. Obama being a fellow traveler would gladly throw South Korea to the wolves. Commies stick together you know.

“Clintons: We had satellites, why then did we need troops and intelligence operatives?”

To paraphrase Gen. MacArthur, there is no substitute for HUMINT. The best technology in the world ain’t gonna tell an analyst what the enemy is thinking unless it’s in conjunction with eyes and ears on the ground. But the socialist Dems have been gutting our human intelligence capabilities since the days of the infamous Church Committee. Thanks to them, James Bond is retired, there are no more Men From Uncle, and former Clintonista bootlicker Leon Panetta is the head of the CIA. If I thought about it too much, I’d never get a decent night’s sleep.

Yep…Obama is a coward that will do nothing to N. Korea…well…then again he might use the M.O.A.T on them.
    Mother of all Teleprompters …and bore them to death..and at least have them pleading…” No More..No more…we can’t stand it”…oh no…that’s the American citizens…not the N. Koreans…sorry.

Obama’s words mean nothing. Zip. Zero. Zilch.

He’s quite the talker, and North Korea has figured out that he’s an epic fail in every sense of leading America.

North Korea knows that America will not do anything about this, they know that Obama is weak and they are testing him. We did nothing when North Korea sank a South Korean ship earlier this year and we will do nothing this time either.
Nobody believes that Barack Obama is serious about this issue in the United States and nobody believes him outside of the United States either. This man is a joke and an embarrassment!

Let’s see, 25% of their GDP. That must come to what… a buck and a half?

    Keep your powder dry

As everyone else has said, BHO’s words mean less than zero, and I am sure that NK really isn’t shaking in their boots.

Strange and dangerous times we live in..
