Clock Running on Bush Presidency

December 31st, 2007 . by TexasFred

CRAWFORD, Texas (AP) - President Bush’s final-year agenda is a stripped down list of what he can realistically hope to get done, since the clout he once touted is fading away.

Bush will venture to four other continents, get more involved than ever in trying to forge Middle East peace, and continue to command two wars that assure his relevancy to the end. As Iraq improves, he must now deal with renewed violence in Afghanistan and upheaval in Pakistan.

At home, Bush will try to extend two domestic achievements that are dear to his legacy - the No Child Left Behind education law, and tax cuts that otherwise expire in 2010.

Long gone are the big ideas of Social Security and immigration reform, which collapsed on Capitol Hill. His final State of the Union speech in late January is expected to reflect today’s policy reality, eschewing new initiatives in favor of unfinished proposals.

Clock Running on Bush Presidency

I think most everyone already knows, I am NOT a real big fan of George W. Bush, I have tried to like the guy, I have tried to see what he sees and I just can’t do it, I think he’s a pathetic leader and I am glad he is now on the way out, we only have one more year to go, but do you know what the seriously sad part of all this is??

There’s no one running for POTUS that’s going to do ANY better than Bush has done, no one, from either side, all sides, every possible option, Dem, Repub, Libertarian, Greenies, whatever, none of em are going to do ANY better…

And do you know WHY there’s no one that’s NOT going to do any better??

It all boils down to this: Americans, the vast majority of them, are an apathetic lot, they sit back, yawn, say ‘Oh well, it’s just politics’ and then they go to Starbucks and get their double dipped latte froth covered lip coating yes it really DOES make your ass look fat over priced bullshit whatever it is that passes for coffee and just sit ON those fat asses as they LET America die…

It’s not the politicians people, it’s the electorate

That’s right, it’s US, you and me, ALL of us, and so far, I am the only one that’s saying it in their blog, laying the blame where the blame squarely falls, the problem with America is US and what we let these pandering politicos get by with, and until WE demand and GET the very best, this bunch of weak sisters and petty crooks is ALL we’re going to have…

Happy New Year America, you’re getting what you ALLOW, think about that one for a while…

A New Years ‘Caption This…’

Bhutto’s Son, Husband to Succeed Her

December 30th, 2007 . by TexasFred

NAUDERO, Pakistan (AP) - Benazir Bhutto’s 19-year-old son - a student with no political experience - was named symbolic leader of her party Sunday, while her husband took effective control, extending Pakistan’s most enduring political dynasty.

The major parties appeared to agree that the elections should take place as scheduled on Jan. 8 despite street violence and political turmoil triggered by the assassination of Bhutto. The Election Commission is to discuss the timing of the polls Monday.

A successful vote would bolster U.S.-backed plans to restore democracy to the nuclear-armed country as it battles rising Islamic extremism.

Rioting subsided Sunday after destruction that left at least 44 dead and caused ten of millions of dollars in damage, but bitterness remained over the government’s response to the gun and suicide attack that killed Bhutto.

The appointment of Bhutto’s husband, Asif Ali Zardari, was not without its own complications. A former Cabinet minister who spent eight years in prison on corruption accusations, he is known as “Mr. 10 Percent” for allegedly taking kickbacks and is viewed with suspicion by many Pakistanis.

Bhutto’s Son, Husband to Succeed Her

I am not trying to interject a thread of negativity here but I’d sure like to know what the line in Vegas is on how long these 2 have left to live…

All we are seeing is Pakistani politics at it’s very best, and if it weren’t for the nuclear weapons that I consider to be at risk of falling into the wrong hands, or should I say, worse hands, I honestly wouldn’t care how many of these Islamic moonbats killed each other in their tribal dance of grief and confusion…

Had Bhutto not been a woman, this assassination wouldn’t have been much more than a blip on the face of world politics…

I have been trying, all day, to think of something positive to say in regards to this calamity in Pakistan, the death and devastation, the corruption, all of the confusion, but the very fact of the matter, at least to me, is that no matter what else you think, they ARE Muslims and this is how they do business, all of this is of very little consequence and nothing out of the ordinary if you take the nuclear weapons out of the equation…

I can’t wait to see how the Bumbler in Chief reacts to this over the next few weeks, 5 years ago he took us into a war with Iraq over WMDs that we were told were a direct threat to the America people, WMDs that have, to this very day, never been found…

Pakistan has WMDs, and those WMDs need to be secured before the more radical of the Islamic insurgents can get their hands on them as Pakistan suffers through this current misadventure, I suppose Pakistan would really be in deep poop if Musharraf threatened Bush 41…

Illegal Texan of the Year? Dallas paper says yes

December 30th, 2007 . by TexasFred

DALLAS (AP) – Because everybody in Texas “has felt the tidal wave of his presence,” the illegal immigrant has been named the Texan of the Year by The Dallas Morning News.

“We can’t seem to live with him and his family, and if we can live without him, nobody’s figured out how,” the story posted on The Dallas Morning News Web site on Saturday said.

The newspaper identified illegal immigration as perhaps the largest story in the nation and in the state in 2007. Texas’ immigrant population has increased by nearly 33 percent since 2000, according to an analysis of government data by the Washington-based Center for Immigration Studies.

In that period, the number of total immigrants entering the country has exceeded all previous historical eras. Half the immigrants in Texas – about 7 percent of all Texans – are here illegally.

“The illegal immigrant is the waiter serving margaritas at our restaurant table, the cook preparing our enchiladas,” the story said. “He works grueling hours at a meatpacking plant, carving up carcasses of cattle for our barbecue (he also picks the lettuce for our burgers). He builds our houses and cuts our grass. She cleans our homes and takes care of our children.”

Illegal Texan of the Year? Dallas paper says yes

The Dallas Morning News just lost a subscriber, my wife has been a reader for many years and she just dumped em…

As anyone that has ever read here knows, I have nothing against ANY man or woman making a living in the USA, but do it legally, I have NO use for the wetback ILLEGALS that the DMN appears to think so much of…

As a resident of Texas, a LEGAL one, I see the jobs that the ILLEGALS do, and yeah, they work, and for the most part, they are hard workers but here’s the bottom line, they are here ILLEGALLY, and that is the part of the equation that must be rectified…

And now we don’t have ANY Presidential candidate that will take a HARD stand against this ILLEGAL invasion, Tancredo dropped out and endorsed Romney, a move that made me lose ALL respect for Tancredo, Thompson is on the verge of imploding, I wonder if that implosion will be as lazy as the rest of his campaign, NONE of the rest, from either side, are willing to take a stand, a really TOUGH, NO B.S. stand against the wetback invasion, they are afraid the may offend some Hispanic voters, those that are here legally…

What NONE of them realize is this, the Hispanic folks that are here in the USA legally, and the ones that have become citizens, they hate the wetback invasion as much as anyone…

To name ILLEGALS as ‘Texans of the Year’ is nothing less than a travesty on the part of the DMN, and I hope any and all subscribers to that RAG will follow our lead and immediately cancel your subscription to them, nothing gets attention as quickly as a monetary hit, and in MY opinion, this calls for a hit so tremendous that it may well bankrupt the DMN, and letters to the editor would also be a nice touch as well…

Low Flame In Fred Thompson’s Belly?

December 30th, 2007 . by TexasFred

(AP) Fred Thompson says he’s not consumed with winning the White House and that a president with too much fire in the belly is not necessarily a good thing in a dangerous world.

“I am not consumed by personal ambition,” Thompson said Saturday. “I will not be devastated if I don’t do it. I’m not particularly interested in running for president but I think I would make a good president.” He said others encouraged him to run and he decided it was the right thing to do.

[In an appearance Sunday on CNN, Thompson complained that the "not particularly interested" quote had been taken out of context.]

“I like to say that I’m only consumed by very, very few things and politics is not one of them,” Thompson said at a town hall meeting in Burlington, Iowa.

Thompson said some candidates have become too absorbed by the process and have lost sight of the ultimate need to serve the country.

“Nowadays, it’s all about fire in the belly,” he said. “I’m not sure in the world we live in today it’s a terribly good thing that a president has too much fire in his belly.”

And this Ladies and Gentlemen is exactly WHY I dropped my support of Fred D. Thompson, he is NOT committed and he’s about as exciting as watching paint dry…

Yes, he does have some good ideas, if you can stay awake long enough to hear them, and the all around boredom has given Thompsons campaign a serious kick, to the curb…
