Man dies after being Tasered at L.A. subway station

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department says a man has died after a deputy shocked him three times with an electric stun gun at a subway station.

Sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore says the man, who was not immediately identified, was at the North Hollywood Red Line station Wednesday night when a deputy repeatedly asked if he had a ticket.

The man didn’t answer, so the deputy took hold of his hands to stop and question him.

Whitmore says the man broke free, raised clenched fists and charged the deputy several times. He was Tasered, then shocked twice more when he got up and charged again.

Whitmore says a pipe used to smoke drugs fell to the ground during the scuffle.

This is one of the comments I made on the USA Today post.

I simply can’t believe the lack of comprehension of a few of the comment makers on this post. The guy attacked a Deputy, a Deputy that had asked a legitimate question, it doesn’t matter if the guy spoke English or not, he was in the USA, he *should* have been able to converse in the language of the land.

The guy charged the Deputy, 3 times, and was Tased 3 times, all well within the parameters of lawful action, the Deputy used *necessary force*, not EXCESSIVE force, and he subdued the attacker.

The overall health and well being of this guy was NOT the #1 concern of the Deputy. If the guy was stoned on crack, or whatever, if he had other health issues and he died as a result of the Taser, too bad, seriously, too bad, he apparently made some really BAD life choices, one being attacking an armed Deputy, and the end result was, he lost his life.

But some of you see it differently. The cop was NOT supposed to use a Taser on this guy. OK, what was he supposed to do? Take him on in a fist fight? Take him down with his defensive baton? Or, would you have been more happy if the Deputy had just shot the guy?

It’s always the cops fault where some people are concerned. That is a sad testament to YOUR lifestyle I am guessing. Somewhere along the way, a cop did you some *wrong* I suppose. And it IS possible, I know that not all cops are angels, but here’s something a few of you need to get through your thick heads, the Taser, under NORMAL conditions, when used properly, is the least dangerous weapon in the police arsenal.

Take the Taser away and then you place officers in a position of having to fire their sidearm a lot more often. I can just hear the outcry when that happens.

I have NO use for these people that automatically blame the police when things like this happen. Yes, it IS a regrettable situation, but it’s the price you pay for the life choices you make, I just hope this Deputy has a department that will stand beside him and not throw him to the wolves.

We don’t need The Thin Blue Line getting any thinner!

Mexico’s new drug use law worries US police

Mexico’s new drug use law worries US police

MEXICO CITY (AP) - Mexico now has one of the world’s most liberal laws for drug users after eliminating jail time for small amounts of marijuana, cocaine and even heroin, LSD and methamphetamine.

“All right!” said a grinning Ivan Rojas, a rail-thin 20-year-old addict who endured police harassment during the decade he has spent sleeping in Mexico City’s gritty streets and subway stations.

But stunned police on the U.S. side of the border say the law contradicts President Felipe Calderon’s drug war, and some fear it could make Mexico a destination for drug-fueled spring breaks and tourism.

Tens of thousands of American college students flock to Cancun and Acapulco each year to party at beachside discos offering wet T-shirt contests and all-you-can-drink deals.

WARNING: The original story has what some may find to be disturbing pictures of individual drug use.

Many say that the War on Drugs is not a winnable war. I believe they are wrong.

The War on Drugs CAN be won, even now, but to win you must have to have leaders that aren’t afraid to implement bold and drastic plans. It’s got to be fought in an entirely different way. We can’t just go out and bust users and street dealers. We must eradicate the Drug Lords, the suppliers, the crops and the illegal purchase of the chemicals that goes into the making of crack and crystal meth.

Close the border with Mexico. Shut Mexico OFF from ALL U.S. made products until such time that they clean up their own back yard. Disallow ALL travel to Mexico, as well as Central and South America. Vigorously ENFORCE those prohibitions.

Attack and DESTROY the ILLEGAL drug makers in THIS nation, wipe them out. Wipe out the marijuana growers. Burn them out. If they are burned in the process, too bad. It is, after all, WAR!

Addicts? Cut them OFF. Allow them ONE CHANCE at sobriety and rehabilitation. After that, let them leave the USA and go live in Mexico with it’s highly liberal drug usage laws, and NEVER let them return to the USA. In fact, ‘let them leave’ should be reworded, FORCE them to leave. Get straight or get OUT!

I have heard ALL of the arguments concerning a prohibition on drugs, and how a prohibition on booze didn’t work, hence, prohibition on ILLEGAL drugs won’t work either. Booze was a popular item, with the vast majority of Americans, I do NOT believe that cocaine, crack, meth, LSD and heroine enjoy that vast popularity. I am of the opinion that most Americans, those NOT on illegal drugs, are pretty well set against them and would gladly support their demise.

Enacted last week, the Mexican law is part of a growing trend across Latin America to treat drug use as a public health problem and make room in overcrowded prisons for violent traffickers rather than small-time users.

Brazil and Uruguay have already eliminated jail time for people carrying small amounts of drugs for personal use, although possession is still considered a crime in Brazil. Argentina’s Supreme Court ruled out prison for pot possession on Tuesday and officials say they plan to propose a law keeping drug consumers out of the justice system.

Senator Ted Kennedy dies at 77

Senator Ted Kennedy dies at 77

BOSTON - Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, the liberal lion of the Senate and haunted bearer of the Camelot torch after two of his brothers fell to assassins’ bullets, has died at his home in Hyannis Port after battling a brain tumor. He was 77.

In nearly 50 years in the Senate, Kennedy served alongside 10 presidents — his brother John Fitzgerald Kennedy among them — compiling an impressive list of legislative achievements on health care, civil rights, education, immigration and more.

His only run for the White House ended in defeat in 1980. More than a quarter-century later, he handed then-Sen. Barack Obama an endorsement at a critical point in the campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination, explicitly likening the young contender to President Kennedy.

To the American public, Kennedy — known to friends and foes alike simply as Ted — was best known as the last surviving son of America’s most glamorous political family, father figure and, memorably, eulogist of an Irish-American clan plagued again and again by tragedy.

The President, the Dems, libbers and RINOs can ALL sing his praises, that is the hypocrisy we ALL expected, but I am not going to honor a murdering son of an Irish bootlegger. I am hoping that Mary Jo Kopechne was waiting for him with a Louisville Slugger!

I have NEVER been a supporter OF Teddy Kennedy, and I won’t prostitute me, or my blog and become one now. I don’t intend to denigrate, nor will I celebrate his passing.

I can’t, in good conscience, and won’t, pile any honors on a man that was far less than honorable in my opinion!

EDIT: After seeing a few comments on other blogs, on Facebook, and in my comments section here, I have to say this, if you feel so inclined to blast off on Kennedy, by ALL means, have at it. I won’t stop you, nor will I edit your words. There are many Americans that truly detest Edward Kennedy, I am one of them, and I have said all I can say and remain even remotely civil.

A Testament to the Power of Prayer

A Testament to the Power of Prayer

My new grandson, Carson Ambrose. He doesn’t look like a preemie in the pics but he’s about 2.6 pounds right now.

Good news, he cries, really LOUD, his lungs are great!! He is on a tube feed for now but he is digesting his food and making poop.

That may be TMI for some folks, but it IS great news, Mom’s will understand, he is fully formed, he just too early, and he still looks good. If he had gone full term we could have taken him fishing!!

The latest word I have at this time, HE is stable, they are bringing Lisa out of the induced coma and she is holding her own, her oxygen sats are at 100% even though they have cut her flow.

Now they are weening her off of the drugs that put her in the induced coma, but she is, as I am told, *stable*.

Thank ALL of you for the prayers… Sometimes, thank you just isn’t enough, but my most sincere thanks to ALL of you!
