Senator Ted Kennedy dies at 77

BOSTON - Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, the liberal lion of the Senate and haunted bearer of the Camelot torch after two of his brothers fell to assassins’ bullets, has died at his home in Hyannis Port after battling a brain tumor. He was 77.

In nearly 50 years in the Senate, Kennedy served alongside 10 presidents — his brother John Fitzgerald Kennedy among them — compiling an impressive list of legislative achievements on health care, civil rights, education, immigration and more.

His only run for the White House ended in defeat in 1980. More than a quarter-century later, he handed then-Sen. Barack Obama an endorsement at a critical point in the campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination, explicitly likening the young contender to President Kennedy.

To the American public, Kennedy — known to friends and foes alike simply as Ted — was best known as the last surviving son of America’s most glamorous political family, father figure and, memorably, eulogist of an Irish-American clan plagued again and again by tragedy.

The President, the Dems, libbers and RINOs can ALL sing his praises, that is the hypocrisy we ALL expected, but I am not going to honor a murdering son of an Irish bootlegger. I am hoping that Mary Jo Kopechne was waiting for him with a Louisville Slugger!

I have NEVER been a supporter OF Teddy Kennedy, and I won’t prostitute me, or my blog and become one now. I don’t intend to denigrate, nor will I celebrate his passing.

I can’t, in good conscience, and won’t, pile any honors on a man that was far less than honorable in my opinion!

EDIT: After seeing a few comments on other blogs, on Facebook, and in my comments section here, I have to say this, if you feel so inclined to blast off on Kennedy, by ALL means, have at it. I won’t stop you, nor will I edit your words. There are many Americans that truly detest Edward Kennedy, I am one of them, and I have said all I can say and remain even remotely civil.

Report: Edwards’ Call for Forgiveness Met with Rage Among Former Supporters

August 26th, 2008 . by TexasFred
Call for Forgiveness Met with Rage

John Edwards calls to former advisers asking forgiveness for lying about his affair have been met with rage, according to a report published Monday in The New York Daily News.

“It was kind of pathetic, to tell you the truth,” an ex-aide, speaking on condition of anonymity, told the paper. The aide reportedly said he has no intention of returning Edwards’ call.

The former presidential candidate admitted Aug. 8 that he had an affair with one of his campaign staff members, Rielle Hunter, in 2006 when his wife Elizabeth’s cancer was in remission.

Edwards — who is noticeably absent from the Democratic National Convention that began Monday in Denver — is said to be making phone calls to his former supporters, saying, “I let you down, and I’m sorry,” the Post reports.

One former assistant told the paper that he ending his conversation with Edwards abruptly, telling the former North Carolina senator, “I don’t want you to call me again.”

Report: Edwards Call for Forgiveness Met with Rage Among Former Supporters

The hypocrisy of the Democratic party knows NO bounds.

John Edwards is asking for forgiveness, and obviously not getting any. He is apparently being met with rage from his former supporters for his indiscretions.

Don’t think I condone John Edwards actions, not in ANY way, what he did was wrong, and any damage his political career should suffer is, in MY opinion, well deserved. He is, at the present time, a pariah to the Democratic party. He’s not going to speak at the Democratic convention because of his actions and the discovery that he really had lied, and did cheat on his wife. John Edwards isn’t even going to show his face at the Democratic convention.

So, who do the Democrats fill the Edwards speaking slot with?? Bill ‘I did NOT have sex with that woman’ Clinton. Now there is some serious lapse in moral credibility!

And the patriarch of the Democratic party, none other than Teddy ‘Damn I have a headache’ Kennedy spoke last night. Kennedy was canonized by his niece, Caroline Kennedy, now, certainly his sainthood is all but assured, and not one word was heard in memory of Mary Jo Kopechne.

We have ALL committed sins and indiscretions in our lives, and anyone that says he hasn’t is an outright liar. Isolating John Edwards for HIS sins, and all the while giving Clinton and Kennedy a free pass for theirs, other than hypocrisy, just what, exactly, can you call it??

Conservatives call it hypocrisy. The Democrats call it business as usual.
