White House appears ready to drop ‘public option’

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama’s administration signaled on Sunday it is ready to abandon the idea of giving Americans the option of government-run health insurance as part of his ambitious health care proposal.

Facing mounting opposition to the overhaul, administration officials left open the chance for a compromise with Republicans that would include health insurance cooperatives. Such a concession is likely to enrage his liberal supporters but could deliver Obama a much-needed win on a top domestic priority opposed by GOP lawmakers.

Officials from both political parties reached across the aisle in an effort to find compromises on proposals they left behind when they returned to their districts for an August recess.

Obama has been pressing for the government to run a health insurance organization to help cover the nation’s almost 50 million uninsured, but Republicans remain steadfast in arguing against it.

Don’t start cheering just yet American Conservatives, appearances can be deceiving.

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said that government alternative to private health insurance is “not the essential element” of the administration’s health care overhaul. The White House would be open to co-ops, she said, a sign that Democrats want a compromise so they can declare a victory on the showdown.

It’s NOT about health care America. It’s not about what’s right for you and me, our friends and family and ALL legal American citizens. It’s about political posturing and VICTORY!

Victory for Obama and Company. An administration that came roaring in like a socialist lion and is sinking like a rock. Any concession from Obama is nothing more than a desperate attempt to achieve some type of victory, ANY type of victory, before they move on to their next diabolical plot. And I shudder to think what that plan may be.

Such a concession is likely to enrage his liberal supporters but could deliver Obama a much-needed win on a top domestic priority opposed by GOP lawmakers.

I can see how this would tend to inflame the moonbats that support Obama and all of his Obamanure. They want Obama and Company to take total control of this nation and they want to see all Conservatives put in their proper place. Locked away in prison if any of the current rumors floating around the ‘net are even remotely correct.

As I said, this is about victory. Be it real or imagined, Obama is needing a huge victory over the GOP and Conservatives right about now. Last week his poll numbers were at 47%. Obama is a man that governs according to poll numbers. Much like Bill Clinton. If the poll numbers are down, let’s bomb an aspirin factory or a baby formula plant, it looks great on MSNBC and makes them look like they’re actually doing something.

Chamber of Commerce opposes Obama’s plans

Chamber of Commerce opposes Obama’s plans

WASHINGTON - If President Barack Obama wants to take the measure of his opposition, he only has to glance across Lafayette Park from the White House. There, behind 10 massive Corinthian columns, is the headquarters of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce — a leading critic of the administration’s health care and banking overhaul plans.

A fortress for the business community, the chamber has emerged as a multitasking, multimillion-dollar defender of the private sector against presidential initiatives. As lawmakers spend time at home during their August vacation hearing from constituents, the chamber is adding its own heat to the season.

There’s a $2 million campaign against Obama’s proposals that would make the government a competitor in the health insurance market. It’s trying to make the case for insurers, which oppose a government-run insurance alternative but want to work with the White House to mandate coverage for all.

The chamber also has become a pointed critic of a White House plan to create a consumer finance protection agency and is assembling finance sector trade groups to push for a delay in legislation.

With 3 million members, the chamber is working with local and regional affiliates on letter-writing campaigns to lawmakers and plans to track their public appearances to make sure they hear the chamber’s point of view.

The summer effort is just a start.

The Chamber of Commerce gets it. Most doctors get it. Businessmen get it. Conservative officials get it. Conservative Americans get it. A rapidly growing number of Democratic Americans even get it. Why the hell doesn’t Obama and Company get it? The outrage is REAL!

Ahhh, OK, now I get it! :?

Top Democrat denounces health care protests

Top Democrat denounces health care protests

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Senate’s most powerful Democrat on Thursday scolded health care protesters dogging his party’s lawmakers at local meetings, arguing that some critics on the political right have run out of ideas - and ditched their civic manners. Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada accused the protesters of trying to “sabotage” the democratic process.

A small group of lawmakers blocked out the fevered rhetoric and vowed to keep pursuing an elusive bipartisan deal on a broad remaking of the health care system. With encouragement from President Barack Obama and business leaders, the group reported progress on financing an overhaul. But as polls show Obama’s approach losing favor with voters - particularly independents - Democrats are talking more openly about the possibility of moving legislation without Republican support.

Energized conservative activists said they’ll keep up their fight against Obama’s effort. The president wants to use the government’s clout to subsidize coverage for millions now uninsured, regulate insurance companies more closely and attempt to slow the rise of medical costs. The protesters’ shouts and chants, captured on amateur video, went viral on the Internet.

The Republican Party says it’s not behind the protests, but Reid scoffed at the notion that the protesters reflect grass-roots sentiment. He held up a piece of artificial turf during a session with reporters.

I am going to say this as nicely as I possibly can. Harry Reid is a MORON. Apologies to ALL morons for lumping you in with Reid, but if I said what I really believe concerning Harry Reid, and what I really feel concerning Harry Reid, I might offend the delicate sensitivities of some readers.

Harry Reid has attached himself to a sinking ship. Obama, and nearly everything he wants to do to this nation and the American people is suddenly being challenged. Some challenges are even coming from those in his own party. Contrary to popular belief, not ALL Dems are total dumb-asses, some are really rather bright. They just can’t, or won’t give up on the name Democrat. And let’s face the honest truth, why would they want to be called a Republican? Not a dimes worth of difference in the parties or members anyway.

Apparently, Harry Reid thinks people are being PAID to express their dissatisfaction with the Obamanure administration. He scoffs at the notion that the protesters reflect grass-roots sentiment. I guess Reid can just scoff to his evil little hearts content. I know that here in MY part of Texas we have some serious grass roots movement stuff taking place, and to the best of MY knowledge, no one is being paid to attend or participate in ANY protest or gathering.

I hate to call Sen. Reid an Obama loving LIAR, but I just can’t help thinking that Reid is nothing more than an Obama loving LIAR! Oh, and did I mention MORON too

“These are nothing more than destructive efforts to interrupt a debate that we should have, and are having,” Reid said. “They are doing this because they don’t have any better ideas. They have no interest in letting the negotiators, even though few in number, negotiate. It’s really simple: they’re taking their cues from talk show hosts, Internet rumor-mongerers … and insurance rackets.”

Internet rumor-mongers maybe? I hate to be a spelling and grammar NAZI but it’s mongers Sen. Reid. I would have thought a distinguished Senator such as yourself would have known that. Guess not.

Dodd has been diagnosed with prostate cancer

July 31st, 2009 . by TexasFred

Dodd has been diagnosed with prostate cancer

WASHINGTON - Sen. Christopher Dodd, D-Conn., has been diagnosed with an early stage of prostate cancer and intends to have surgery early in August, his office said Friday.

Dodd plans to be back at work when Congress reconvenes in September, according to an e-mail his office circulated to fellow senators. The AP obtained a copy.

Aides also said the diagnosis would not affect Dodd’s plans to seek a sixth term in 2010.

At a news conference in Hartford, Conn., Friday afternoon, Dodd said “I feel fine … we caught this early.”

Dodd, 65, is chairman of the Senate Banking Committee and also is playing a lead role in Congress’ overhaul of the nation’s health care system. He took that role while his close friend, Senate health committee Chairman Edward Kennedy, D-Mass., fights his own battle with brain cancer.

Prostate cancer is the most common form of the disease in men in the United States, affecting about 6.4 out of every 100 men in Dodd’s age group, according to the Centers for Disease Control.

Dodd has been diagnosed with prostate cancer

Send his 65 year OLD ass home with a bottle of pain pills and then go back and check on him in a few months, ask him how that ObamaKare BS is working out for HIM!!

I am truly sorry the guy has cancer, but the only way these SLUGS in D.C. will ever get over their love of Obama and ObamaKare is to make THEM suffer through it themselves.

Dodd is an egotistical moron. He’s on TV right now, running his head about his Senate Health Care Plan, and how that coverage is likely what has, and is, going to save him.

He’s touting that yearly physical and all. If this was your average 65 year old white male, would ObamaCare provide HIM with all the needed care to fight prostate cancer? Diagnosis, surgery, followup treatment?

Will ObamaKare equate to the exact same care for WE, The People as it does a Senator?

I seriously doubt it will.

Much like my great Congressman, Mr. Sam Johnson said recently, “If ObamaKare is so good, the Senate and Congress members supporting it need to be the 1st ones signed up on it.

If my understanding of ObamaCare is correct, older Americans, and Sen. Dodd IS an OLDER American, will suffer the most. We, as older Americans, are highly expendable.

We have, some believe, lived our lives and made all the useful contribution to America that we are capable of making. I dispute that assumption. It has only been in the last few years that I have hit my stride. I am enjoying the richness of my experience that youngsters not in my age group haven’t had the opportunity to live.

I honestly don’t begrudge Sen. Dodd the treatment he needs, I just want him to wake up and realize that his ideas of ObamaCare, and the treatments that it would approve, are NOT treatments that you and I would receive at the same age and in our lesser stations in life.

If we’re going to ALL be equal, as the Obamessiah wishes us to be, let’s let the equality begin in D.C. with Health Care. And I am NOT wishing anything off on anyone, but what do you suppose the reaction would be if Obama, his wife, or their children were in need of immediate and critical health care?

Can you say bring in the finest doctors IN THE WORLD and spare NO expense!? Expense that WE, The Taxpayer, would be footing?

I know you can!
