Republicans Maneuver to Oust Their Leader

WASHINGTON — Turning their attention to the 2012 presidential election, Republican leaders are digging in for a battle over control of the Republican National Committee, judging that its role in fund-raising, get-out-the-vote operations and other tasks will be critical to the effort to topple President Obama.

Some senior party officials are maneuvering to put pressure on Michael Steele, the controversial party chairman, not to seek re-election when his term ends in January or, failing that, to encourage a challenger to step forward to take him on.

So far, the effort has been tentative, with Mr. Steele’s most ardent opponents working behind the scenes to persuade an alternative to run against him — fearful that any overt moves will create a backlash in Mr. Steele’s favor among those committee members who tend to view the establishment in Washington with suspicion.

One man leading the effort is a Mississippi Republican Party committeeman, Henry Barbour, who is a nephew of Gov. Haley Barbour of Mississippi — a former chairman of the Republican National Committee, himself. Governor Barbour is said by people involved in the discussions to be among those eager to see a change at the top of the party and recently criticized party fund-raising under Mr. Steele.

I know the original story isn’t aimed at Sarah Palin, but there are some parts of this story that Palin definitely needs to be injected into.

First; every time I hear someone address the issue of Sarah Palin running for, and being elected President in 2012, I truly cringe. I don’t like Sarah Palin. I think she is the most under qualified person that the GOP could ever run for the office of President. I honestly believe that if she were to become President, she would be an even bigger danger to America than Barack Obama is.

Sarah Palin is a quitter. All the excuses be damned, Sarah Palin QUIT on Alaska and she ran from the fight. That can’t be denied. You don’t cut and run if you’re RIGHT!

That said; she has, to some degree, redeemed herself in the eyes of some. Some never actually saw her quitting as a bad thing. I never understood that rationale, but, it’s a free nation, believe as you will.

I see Sarah Palin as nothing more than a cheerleader that can rally a crowd, raise tons and tons of money, and can deliver more one liners than Dan Rather on election night. That’s why I believe Sarah Palin needs to be the next chairperson of the RNC.

It’s a job that’s well suited to her *rock star* personality. It’s a job that she could excel at, and in all probability, she would be the best chairperson the RNC has ever had.

And let’s face the facts, suppose she quits again…no big deal, it’s a *Rah-Rah* position that can be filled by any Type-A drama queen and media whore. See what I mean? Palin IS perfect for the job.

What? Palin isn’t a Type-A Drama Queen and Media Whore? Really? Palin can work a room full of reporters and a rally like a stripper works a pole.

How many times can you turn on the TV and NOT see Palin and her new show, Sarah Palin’s Alaska? Or her daughter, Bristol, on Dancing With The Stars? Bristol Palin is a STAR? Or, is Bristol Palin on that program because she is the infamous semi-drama queen daughter of Sarah Palin? A Star, in the minds of some, of the TEA Party and all things Conservative?

OK, back to the story.

Officials close to the presumed new House speaker, Representative John A. Boehner of Ohio, and the Senate minority leader, Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, said that both men would prefer a new chairman as well, but that they were also resigned to Mr. Steele’s continued leadership should no clear alternative emerge to defeat him.

Michael Steele is a RINO. Steele is a weak sister, he is highly ineffective in MY opinion and is only in place because the GOP/RNC needed a high profile BLACK person in a position of power to prove that they are a diverse bunch and not a collection of old, rich WHITE people.

Michael Steele is a token, nothing more.

Several officials involved in the discussions, all of whom requested anonymity to share details of the talks, said Mr. Priebus had recently warned Mr. Steele that a run for re-election could prove difficult this time around, and advised him to consider leaving the chairmanship at a time when he could point to big Republican gains nationwide.

Admittedly, the GOP did very well in the recent elections, but I don’t think Steele is the reason the GOP made the gains it did.

Palin says 17-year-old daughter is pregnant

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - John McCain’s running mate Sarah Palin said Monday that her 17-year-old unmarried daughter is five months pregnant, an announcement campaign aides said was aimed at rebutting Internet rumors that Palin’s youngest son, born in April, was actually her daughter’s.

A statement released by the campaign said that Bristol Palin will keep her baby and marry the child’s father. Bristol Palin’s baby is due in late December.

“Our beautiful daughter Bristol came to us with news that as parents we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned. We’re proud of Bristol’s decision to have her baby and even prouder to become grandparents,” Sarah and Todd Palin said in the brief statement.

The disclosure of the pregnancy came on the opening day of the Republican National Convention, scaled back because of Hurricane Gustav, and three days after McCain named Palin as his running mate. Other news was likely to overshadow the disclosure.

Palin says 17-year-old daughter is pregnant

It’s a good thing that the Palin’s are a solid Conservative and Christian family, otherwise we’d be hearing about Bristol Palin having had an abortion.

Several of the most vile Dem/Libber blogs are going absolutely apeshit over Bristol being pregnant, like it’s never happened to anyone one their side of the aisle.

My question for the Libbers is this; are you so upset because she’s pregnant or because she is keeping the baby? I am guessing that keeping a baby like this just goes against the grain for the moonbat baby killers.

My hat is off to Sarah Palin and her family for their decision to keep the child, and to Bristol for her decision to marry the father of the child. I know, 1st hand, what it’s like to have a baby surprise, one of my daughters is 20, her son, my wonderful grandson, is 4. You can do the math.

I don’t approve of this behavior, not in any way, but it happens, and it happens to the best of families. The big difference is this, GOOD families accept it, deal with it and raise a child with all the love in their hearts. That’s what we did, and I am sure that’s what the Palin family is going to do as well.

And for once I have got to say something in praise of Barack Obama, so mark this up and never forget the fact that I DO give credit where credit is due.

Sen. Obama made a statement regarding Bristol Palin and said that this is a family matter and one that his campaign should consider to be completely off limits, and then went on to further say that anyone involved in his campaign that DID make an issue of it would be fired.

Sen. Obama showed a great bit of compassion and common sense with that statement. I hope he is a man of his word.

I had to make this post today, even with all that I have going on with my own family. I had to do it because not only are we seeing the unmitigated hypocrisy of the left, I have seen one so-called Conservative site engaging in reverse hate speech against Sen Obama, saying that he likely ordered the verbal attacks on Palin.

I may be a lot of things but I try to be fair, if I attack Obama, or anyone else for that matter, it will be over FACTS, not hatred or assumptions based on that hatred. Conservatives are supposed to be better than that.
