NY gov says campaign aide leaked Kennedy dirt

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - New York Gov. David Paterson says a campaign staffer leaked unsubstantiated claims to the press that Caroline Kennedy “wasn’t ready for prime time” and faced possible tax, nanny and marital problems.

The Democratic governor blamed the mess on a consultant but didn’t name the staffer. He says he’ll keep the consultant on his campaign payroll.

Paterson has insisted he had nothing to do with the leaks. The dirt was fed to reporters by a person close to Paterson under condition of anonymity.

The claims surfaced just after Kennedy abruptly withdrew from Paterson’s secretive selection process to fill Hillary Rodham Clinton’s New York Senate seat.

Gov. David Paterson might be blind but he can sure ‘see’ the need to issue excuses I believe. I don’t know what they call it in New York, but here in Texas it’s called covering your ass. Of course Paterson had nothing to do with the leaks, someone will surely take a fall for him, even if he did let the cat out of the bag. That’s politics.

I don’t know if Princess Caroline was having marital trouble or not, in fact, I don’t care if she was or wasn’t, that’s none of my business, either way. If she is having tax problems, well, welcome to the Obama administration, that seems to be the order of the day of late. A Senator with tax problems, or any other far left Dem with tax problems is an immediate candidate for the Cabinet it appears.

Caroline Kennedy was ‘not ready for prime time’? I think the writer of the original story has a flair for understatement. Caroline Kennedy has nothing more than a great political name. Not appointing her to the Senate was likely one of the best moves Paterson could have made.

I suppose Paterson and Company are concerned that they may be sued by the Kennedy Klan for allowing the truth to come out concerning poor little Caroline. Personally, I am glad they did let this all come out, I am glad she was shown to be a troubled possibility. The United States has more than enough problems on it’s hands right now, we don’t need a troubled Senator, new or well seasoned, sitting in the Senate. The American people need workers, not social butterflies that have never held a real job.

I’m just tremendously happy that it was NOT Caroline Kennedy that was sent to Washington, D.D. to replace Hillary.

Caroline Kennedy: In? Out? Waffles anyone?

Jan 21, 9:59 PM (ET) ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - A person close to Caroline Kennedy’s decision said she’s withdrawing from her effort to join the U.S. Senate in the seat once held by her slain uncle, Sen. Bobby Kennedy. The person close to the decision made Wednesday evening spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity because he wasn’t authorized to speak for Kennedy.

Spokesmen for New York Gov. David Paterson and Kennedy have refused to comment.

The news is a shock to supporters and to Paterson, who had appeared likely to appoint her to the seat by Saturday.

Citing personal reasons, Kennedy ended her monthlong bid to succeed Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, who was confirmed as secretary of state on Wednesday.

Jan 21, 11:18 PM (ET) ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - After wavering briefly, Caroline Kennedy renewed her determination Wednesday to win appointment to the U.S. Senate seat once held by her slain uncle, Bobby Kennedy, a person close to the decision said.

After her surviving uncle, Sen. Edward Kennedy, suffered a seizure on Inauguration Day, Caroline Kennedy had misgivings about taking on the new job, the source said, speaking to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity because he wasn’t authorized to speak for Kennedy. Earlier in the day, The New York Times and New York Post reported that Kennedy had ended her monthlong bid to succeed Hillary Rodham Clinton, who was confirmed as secretary of state.

MSNBC also reported that a person close to Kennedy denied that she was out of the running.

Spokesmen for Caroline Kennedy and for Gov. David Paterson, who will make the appointment to fill the Clinton seat, wouldn’t comment.

Is this the kind of woman that the people of New York want to be their Senator? 1 hour and 19 minutes from OUT to back IN? That is a wishy-washy, waffling, unsure, undecided person that is in possession of absolutely NO leadership skills.

What the hell, in 4 years, she could be president.

Caroline Kennedy did not vote in many elections

Caroline Kennedy did not vote in many elections

NEW YORK (AP) - Caroline Kennedy, who wants to fill Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton’s seat, has not voted in a number of elections, including one race for the very job she is seeking.

The Democrat registered at her current address on Manhattan’s Upper East Side in 1988. According to Board of Elections records, she missed several Democratic mayoral primaries in 1989, 1993, 1997 and 2005.

She also skipped the 1994 general election, when Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan was running for re-election. It is the same seat she hopes to take over if Clinton is confirmed as secretary of state in the new administration.

Her spokesman, Stefan Friedman, said Kennedy “recognizes just how important it is to vote” but has missed a handful of occasions over the last two decades.

Well hell people, what do you want? A Senator that is actually going to show up and do some WORK?? And make a vote on ALL the issues?? How can you be so demanding??

I mean, it’s not like she has ANY qualifications FOR the job either.

Yes, I know, she’s JFK’s daughter, she was alive when HE was president. So was I. Does that mean I’m qualified to become a U.S. Senator? Uh, no.

She is a socialite. Does that qualify her for office? I think not. I’m a very sociable and highly opinionated Texas Redneck. That doesn’t make me qualified either, but ya know, some folks DO think I should serve as an elected official.

Oh, but wait, Caroline Kennedy wouldn’t BE an elected official, she would be an appointed official, that makes a HUGE difference I suppose. Maybe I could get Gov. Perry to appoint me if something were to happen to one of our U.S. Senators here in Texas. One thing would be assured, I would be an America 1st, NO socialist style bailouts, seriously in favor of radical immigration reform, no Bull Shit Senator. Somehow, I don’t think Caroline Kennedy would be that kind of Senator.

But look at the bright side, her private voting record makes her the perfect choice for N.Y. Senator. She missed a lot of votes as a private citizen. She could strive to miss as many votes, or to vote *present* as many times as Obama did. Now that’s a real goal for Kennedy to shoot for. How to become the most liberal Senator in America in no time at all.

And when all else fails, she can look to her Uncle Teddy as a wonderful example of leadership. Just don’t make the trip to Chappaquiddick with him while he’s *under the influence*.
