Obama Pushes Through Agenda Despite Political Risks

WASHINGTON — If passage of the financial regulatory overhaul on Thursday proves anything about President Obama, it is this: He knows how to push big bills through a balky Congress.

But Mr. Obama’s legislative success poses a paradox: while he may be winning on Capitol Hill, he is losing with voters at a time of economic distress, and soon may be forced to scale back his ambitions.

The financial regulatory bill is the final piece of a legislative hat trick that also included the stimulus bill and the landmark new health care law. Over the last 18 months, Mr. Obama and the Democratic Congress have made considerable inroads in passing what could be the most ambitious agenda in decades.

Mr. Obama has done what he promised when he ran for office in 2008: he has used government as an instrument to try to narrow the gaps between the haves and the have-nots. He has injected $787 billion in tax dollars into the economy, provided health coverage to 32 million uninsured and now, reordered the relationship among Washington, Wall Street, investors and consumers.

Obama Pushes Through Agenda Despite Political Risks

It took a Jimmy Carter to give us a Ronald Reagan. Carter was such a miserable failure that we were able to overlook the few weak points that Reagan did present. His version of amnesty for ILLEGALS being foremost in my mind. Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.

What truly troubles me is this; we don’t have another Ronald Reagan on the horizon. The GOP is, for the most part, a disaster of the 1st order and manned by ditsy cheerleaders and RINOs the likes of Newt Gingrich, John McCain and Scott Brown, just to name a few. None of that will spark a renewed American spirit and economy. If anything, a weak GOP offering will give Obama another 4 years to destroy America.

Today we have a Democratic controlled Congress, Senate and Oval Office. The nation is a total disaster. And it’s NOT the fault of George W. Bush, at least, not fully his fault. The Obama thugs would have you believe that is the case, and to a point, they are correct, Bush does bear some responsibility for the current state of this nation. But if Bush was such a failure, why then did Obama and Company continue so many of the Bush policies and force upon this nation the biggest BAIL OUT program the world has ever seen?

The writer of the original piece says, “Mr. Obama has done what he promised when he ran for office in 2008″, and yes, he has, all that and more. He has let his mouth write checks this nation can’t cash. The bail outs have had only marginal success, the finances of this nation are far from secure. Doctors are contemplating retirement, or disassociating themselves from medicare patients because of this ObamaCare debacle. It will only get worse if allowed to continue.

But as he has done so, the political context has changed around him. Today, with unemployment remaining persistently near double digits despite the scale of the stimulus program and the BP oil spill having raised questions about his administration’s competence, Mr. Obama’s signature legislation is providing ammunition to conservatives who argue that government is the problem, not the solution.

BINGO! Real Conservatives, not GOP/RINO wannabes, but REAL Conservatives are calling it like it is. We see, and know what the problems are in this nation, and we want those problems resolved.

Anyone that is a long time reader of my blog knows, I wasn’t kind to George W. Bush. I thought him to be marginal at best, very dim at the worst, and a poor choice to lead this nation. But, he did beat the alternatives, both times. I am not kind in my assessment of Barack Hussein Obama, I believe he makes all other presidents not look so bad after all. I don’t just limit my critiques to the Democrats. I expect the best from ALL of our elected officials and I will take them to task if I feel they are giving us anything less.

Even before the November elections, the White House is being forced to recalibrate. This week, Mr. Obama and Senate Democrats decided to press ahead with a scaled-back energy bill, having concluded after months of gridlock that the sweeping measure they once envisioned simply would not pass. It is a tactic that the president will likely have to employ more and more after the November elections, when Democrats will almost certainly lose seats — and may even lose control of the House or Senate.

We Now Have A Total Gangster Government

We Now Have A Total Gangster Government

There is only one part of this I can disagree with, at the very end of the video it implores the viewer to ‘FIRE EM ALL’, well, I am not about to fire the most Conservative, most Pro-American Congressman in the business. I am not about to vote against Mr. Sam Johnson, I don’t care what anyone says.

The United States Congress is where Texans are a lot better off and a lot better represented than many parts of the nation. Our U.S. Senators SUCK, and that’s giving them BOTH a very kind assessment, but our Congressional Representatives, the ones from my area of Texas,  Sam Johnson (R-3), Ralph Hall (R-4) and  Jeb Hensarling (R-5), are the best of the best.

No earmarks. No pork. Won’t raise taxes. Solid pro-life. Great Conservatives one and all, you just don’t FIRE the 1st Team!

It appears that Michele Bachmann, (R-6) of Minnesota, is also one of those REAL Conservatives. She points out quite well the hypocrisy of the Democrats, the *Gangster Government* that is now running wild in Washington, D.C.

These are the people that America NEEDS. These are the people that American Conservatives must support. We, as Conservatives, can’t be duped into supporting FAUX Conservatives, or as I prefer to call them, RINOs.

And we can’t be duped into supporting the organizations that DO support the RINOs. No matter WHO gets their knickers in a twist. We must TAKE AMERICA BACK, but we can’t get it done by backing those that tout the likes of Sen. John Cornyn as a “strong conservative voice in Washington”, and those that think Sen. Hutchison would be a great Governor. There’s not a REAL Conservative bone between the both of them!

Are you hearing us Austin? The eyes of Texas are upon YOU! Business as usual and faux Conservatism is NOT going to get the job done, and it’s not going to get ANYONE elected, or re-elected!

A letter to the Sen. John Cornyn Campaign

October 6th, 2008 . by TexasFred

A letter to the Sen. John Cornyn Campaign

Below is an exact copy of the email I just sent to the Cornyn reelection campaign in a followup to last weeks request, I am curious to see if they have the courtesy to actually honor the request.

To whom it may concern:

I sent Vincent Harris an email request, I asked to have all 3 of my blogs removed from your blog roll, as did several other bloggers. As yet, NONE of those blogs have been removed.

I am asking, one more time, PLEASE remove The Texas Connection, The American Conservative and TexasFred’s from your sidebar list.

I can no longer support a 2 faced politico such as John Cornyn has proven himself to be, he has LOST my vote, and that of MANY Texans, the bailout vote was dead wrong and has set this nation on the road to socialism, and I will NOT associate with socialists.

And just in case you guys actually have the *stones* to pass this on to Sen. Cornyn, maybe he can pass it on to Kay Bailey Hutchison as well, the public trust has been broken, and I have an incredibly long memory. And a very well read Conservative political blog!

Sincerely,
Fred *******
aka: TexasFred
http://TexasFred.net/

I would hope that some of my readers, from ALL states, would be hammering their SOCIALIST Senators and Congressmen that DID vote for this bailout!

I said before, and proudly say again, my Congressman is Mr. Sam Johnson, 3rd Congressional District of Texas, a genuine man of honor, a true patriot and a Conservative through and through. Sam Johnson did NOT support nor did he vote for this travesty, either time!

And that’s a hell of a lot more than I can say about either of my U.S. Senators!

EDIT TO ADD: I received email from the Cornyn campaign today, my sites have been removed from their site, I WILL NOT support anyone that voted FOR the Wall Street bailout BS nor will I support ANY site that continues to support Cornyn, and by NOT coming out hard and heavy in criticism OF Cornyn, many sites ARE still supporting this socialist RINO!

I was just checking the blog comments on Sen. Cornyn’s site concerning the bailout and they were overwhelmingly against it and nearly ALL were imploring Sen. Cornyn to vote NO.

Isn’t it great to know that we have lawmakers that actually listen to their constituents? Let’s see how Cornyn and Hutchison like the memory that many of us possess. If this election doesn’t take Cornyn out, the next one will and right here, right now, I make a solemn promise to FIGHT against Cornyn and Kay Bailey Hutchison with every tool I have at my disposal if she retires from the senate and comes home to run for Governor, and will fight against her if she decides to remain in the senate.

If Obama were not such an abomination I wouldn’t vote for McCain either, again we are forced, at least on a national level, to settle for the lesser of the evils! I HATE Socialists, of ANY ilk!
