Texas Gov. Urges Action Against Israel Protesters

AUSTIN, Texas — Texas Gov. Rick Perry urged the U.S. attorney general to take action Wednesday against Americans who plan to take part in a pro-Palestinian protest by sailing to the Gaza Strip to challenge an Israeli naval blockade.

Perry wrote that he had information that American citizens were aboard two U.S.-flagged ships that plan to challenge the blockade on the Gaza Strip. He urged U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder to take legal steps to stop them from taking part, or to prosecute them if they

“The state of Israel is a friend and critical ally of the United States, and the only stable democracy in an increasingly unstable and hostile region,” wrote Perry, a vocal supporter of Israel who is considering a run for president in 2012. “These initiatives to breach Israel’s maritime blockade of the Gaza Strip is an unacceptable provocation.”

Under federal law, anyone who “prepares a means for, or furnishes the money for, or takes part in, any military or naval expedition” against a friendly country can be fined or jailed for three years. Perry also suggested that Holder prosecute the protesters for providing materials or assistance to a terrorist organization.

I have said it before and I’ll say it again, Rick Perry has his faults, he’s not perfect, but neither am I, or you, or anyone else. We all have our faults.

That said, Rick Perry is sounding more and more Presidential with each passing day. All that remains to be done now is for him to jump in the race and cause many hard-line GOP RINOs and Perry hating Democrats to have a coronary.

Gov. Perry is obviously a person that supports Israel. That is a topic much in his favor in my opinion, but I have to point this out, and I’m sure that Perry and his staff are fully aware, but, Barack Hussein Obama, and his right hand *Devil Spawn*, Eric Holder, are NOT supporters of Israel and are accused of being anti-Semitic in many instances.

This is from the news today:

U.S. Designates Israel as Country That Tends ‘To Promote, Produce, or Protect’ Terrorists; Also Calls Israel Anti-Terror Partner

(CNSNews.com) - In an implicit admission that Israel is so threatened by terrorism that it is not only surrounded by countries and territories that produce terrorists but also unwillingly harbors terrorists within its own territory in a way that most other nations in the world do not, the Obama administration is currently listing Israel among 36 “specially designated countries” it believes “have shown a tendency to promote, produce, or protect terrorist organizations or their members.”

Also included on the list-separately from Israel-are the Palestinian territories of the West Bank and Gaza, as well as Egypt, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon, the four nations bordering Israel. SOURCE

Surely no one has forgotten Obama’s calling for Israel’s return to pre-1967 borders

President Barack Obama on Thursday made official the long-held but rarely stated U.S. support for a future Palestinian state based on borders that existed before the 1967 Middle East war.

In the past, the United States has unofficially backed a two-state solution to the Israel-Palestinian conflict based on the borders in place prior to the war 44 years ago in which Israel seized the West Bank, Gaza Strip, Golan Heights and Sinai Peninsula.

How can Barack Hussein Obama be interpreted as anything other than a Jew hating supporter of Islam and Palestine? Obama was raised as a Muslim, and as much as he has tries to convince the American people that he is now a Christian, I, for one, remain unconvinced and fully believe that Obama is as much a Muslim today as he was in his youth.

Barack Hussein Obama despises Rick Perry, and I am fairly certain that Eric Holder, as Obama’s *boy*, harbors that same hatred.

I fully support the sentiments of Gov. Rick Perry regarding Americans who plan to take part in a pro-Palestinian protest, but I’m believe that Gov. Perry would be find more success talking to a wall as opposed to appealing to Holder, and thus, Obama, to take any kind of action against these Palestinian and Muslim supporting scum.

The only hope I see of stopping this flotilla is going to be Israel itself.

I know Obama and Holder won’t like it if Israel enacts a blockade or sinks these vessels to the bottom of the ocean, but that makes me even more convinced that stopping them is the right thing to do.

Israel approves plan to repel flotilla

Ma’an-AFP — Israel’s security cabinet on Monday ordered the navy to stop an international aid flotilla from breaching a naval blockade on the Gaza Strip, but also to avoid clashes with activists on board.

“Members of the [security] cabinet decided today following a debate on the flotilla that the state of Israel will be determined in stopping the flotilla’s arrival in Gaza,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said in a statement.

But forces would be ordered to do so “with minimal confrontation, as far as possible, with those on board the ships,” it said without giving further details.

Also on Monday, Netanyahu said a threat to punish foreign journalists in the convoy by barring them from entering Israel for up to 10 years would not be carried out. SOURCE

I only hope that Israel stands strong and follows through!

I reject the knee-jerk reaction of many who treat Israel almost like our 51st state. On the other hand, Israel is the only “democracy” in the area. Israel is a stalwart ally of the US in most matters. Israel as a whole is more pro-American than most Democrats I know. What does that mean? Ask the Hmong of Viet Nam and Laos.

    Keep your powder dry

    Perry supports Israel…I like that.

  3. James Shott says:

I’m one of those that automatically supports Israel and thinks the U.S. must, also.

Why? Because nobody else does/will, and Israel has as much right to exist as any of those Muslim-dominated countries that want to wipe it off the map.

Israel should place one explosive charge in the water in the area of the blockade. Tell the ships that are approaching that the area is mined…then set off that explosive to make them think there are many more mines in the water. Only a fool…and I guess there are many onboard the flotilla boats…would take a chance at going through that area without hitting a mine. I not saying they need to mine the area ( although it should be ), but just make them think it is mined.
It reminds me of the old man pointing a shotgun at this other guy. The man with the gun complained he was being threatened…but the old man replied ” I’m not pointing my gun at you…but you are standing in the area I’m about to shoot. ”
Therefore Israel needs to fire a few shots in front of the boats and warn them they are entering a firing range at their own risk….proceeding could be hazardous to their health.

Israel is our one true ally in that region and we have a president who does not like Israel. We must support Israel and I like the fact that Perry is standing up for our ally. It is beginning to sound as if he will run, and I hope he does because I am not happy with the field we have.

  7. Bloviating Zeppelin says:

Wait. I thought Gov Perry WAS in the race?? Where have I been? He’s not officially declared?

    BZ — Nope, not yet…

What Obama’s end game is is anyone’s guess. But the evidence seems clear that he wants a war in the Middle East with Israel in the center of it. I hope Perry can stir up some awareness of what Obama’s policies are leading to.
