Cain suspends campaign shifting GOP race
ATLANTA (AP) - A defiant Herman Cain suspended his faltering bid for the Republican presidential nomination Saturday amid a drumbeat of sexual misconduct allegations against him, throwing his staunchly conservative supporters up for grabs with just one month to go before the lead-off caucuses in Iowa.
Cain condemned the accusations as “false and unproven” but said they had been hurtful to his family, particularly his wife, Gloria, and were drowning out his ability to deliver his message. His wife stood behind him on the stage, smiling and waving as the crowd chanted her name.
“So as of today, with a lot of prayer and soul-searching, I am suspending my presidential campaign because of the continued distractions and the continued hurt caused on me and my family,” a tired-looking Cain told about 400 supporters.
Cain’s announcement came five days after an Atlanta-area woman, Ginger White, claimed she and Cain had an affair for more than a decade, a claim that followed several allegations of sexual harassment against the Georgia businessman.

I see it all over the net today, many sites are saying “Herman Cain Quits” or “The Cain Train Derails”, and I have to say, not so fast.
Herman Cain has NOT quit, at least not officially. He has *suspended* his campaign.
Suspended: past participle, past tense of sus·pend (Verb)
Verb: 1.Temporarily prevent from continuing or being in force or effect: “work on the dam was suspended”.
You are looking at the King of *Shuck and Jive*. Cain has books to sell, women to harass and pizza to make, but don’t count this guy OUT.
White’s attorney said a in statement after the announcement that Cain had disparaged his client and should apologize. Cain had called her a “troubled Atlanta businesswoman” whom he had tried to help.
Somehow I think he called her a lot more than *troubled* in the past. I’m thinking that he called her things like honey, baby, sugar, sweets, OH MY GAWD and DAMN GURL…
Now, I have to wonder; is Ol’ Herm telling Gloria, “Nah gurl, you know I doan bees doin’ a thang like dat, I gots ta tell ya Gloria, yous da only one for me baby, and you doan need ta be a callin’ dat divorce attorney…”
Seriously, do NOT count Cain out, a suspension is not a QUIT. I hope Cain is over and done but I don’t trust that shuck and jive street hustler any further than I could throw him!
Maybe now we can focus on getting Rick Perry’s numbers up and shut out Romney and Newt Gingrich.
Suspended means “in campaign expense law”,,, that you can CONTINUE to spend monies raised for your campaign.
If you quit,,,well,,,you have to use “other” funds to pay for things!!!
Herman Cain will spend every dime he can from his campaign war chest, and most likely will do everything he can to obfuscate funds from his campaign and place it somewhere, so down the road he will have a “tidy sum to use elsewhere”.
That IS the reason for suspension.
Stick a fork in him.
