It’s Political Season here in Texas

It’s Political Season here in Texas

And it’s about to get HOT! And I am NOT talking about the weather.

The Republican primary took place yesterday. The BIG race here in Texas is for a seat on the U.S. Senate, to replace Kay Bailey Hutchison who is, thankfully, retiring.

David Dewhurst took 44.60% of all GOP votes and Ted Cruz took 34.23% in what was truly a large field in this primary race. That left just over 20% of the GOP vote spread out between several other lesser known and rather insignificant candidates.

Personally, I am a David Dewhurst supporter, and I make NO apologies for saying so.

Both candidates, Dewhurst and Cruz, ran some very intense ads during the campaign, and that’s good, that’s what political campaigns are all about, especially in the primaries.

As we move into the run-off it is assumed that the FACTS and details will come out and then the voters can make their decision based on those facts and details, as well as the individual stance of the candidate.

This morning, on the David Dewhurst page on Facebook, I got a look at the hearts of a few Cruz supporters that came to Dewhurst’s page to attack him, to call names, ON HIS PAGE.

The following is a sample.

Pamela Dyer: Where can I find what your stance is on illegal immigration??

Dave Leffingwell: He doesn’t have one - all he does it bash Ted Cruz with b.s. accusations.

One line of bashing wasn’t enough for Ol’ Dave it seems…

Dave Leffingwell He’s a RINO. About worthless as LtGov.

Tom Brite: Pam, If you want to see what David Dewhurst does, rather than what he says, he supported in state tuition to illegal aliens to Texas colleges and universities. That means that all Texans, you and me included, have to subsidize the cost of sending illegal aliens to these schools. It really doesn’t matter what Mr. Dewhurst says, it is what he has done in the past that really matters.

This was MY reply to them:

Fred Witzell: “How about that? The Ted Cruz *HIT TEAM* is attacking David Dewhurst on HIS Facebook page… Classy guys, real classy… Just like your Canadian born Cuban-Irish-Italian HERO… Why is it Ted Cruz never comes out and says *I AM AN AMERICAN*?

Give em HELL David Dewhurst, you WILL beat this clown Ted Cruz…”

David Dewhurst on Facebook

No one answered my question about “Why is it Ted Cruz never comes out and says *I AM AN AMERICAN*?”

What’s really refreshing, at least to me, is the FACT the David Dewhurst isn’t afraid of these attacks, he has comments OPEN on HIS Facebook page.

Ted Cruz doesn’t. What are you afraid of Ted?

Also, something else that struck me as strangely funny about the Cruz *HIT TEAM* and how they hit the Dewhurst page this morning was how similar they are to the supporters of Ron Paul. They will go to any page that mentions David Dewhurst, any that allows comments, and will BLAST OFF on Dewhurst, all the while not allowing anyone to post a comment about their guy, Ron Paul, or, in this case, Ted Cruz.

So, lets take a look at The REAL Ted Cruz, this is taken directly from Wikipedia, so, if there are any falsehoods or inaccuracies, they are made by the author of the page, and can be addressed or corrected by *The Cruz HIT TEAM*.

From Wikipedia: Ted Cruz

Rafael Edward Cruz, known as Ted Cruz (born December 22, 1970), is the former Solicitor General of the U.S. state of Texas, a position which he held from 2003 to May 2008. Cruz was appointed by Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott. He was the first Hispanic Solicitor General in Texas, the youngest Solicitor General in the United States, and had the longest tenure in the post thus far in Texas history. He is currently a partner at the law firm Morgan, Lewis & Bockius, where he leads the firm’s U.S. Supreme Court and national appellate litigation practice.[3]

Cruz is a candidate for the 2012 Republican nomination for the United States Senate seat being vacated by Kay Bailey Hutchison.[4]

Cruz previously served as the director of the Office of Policy Planning at the Federal Trade Commission, an Associate Deputy Attorney General at the United States Department of Justice, and as Domestic Policy Advisor to U.S. President George W. Bush on the 2000 Bush-Cheney campaign. In addition, from 2004-2009 Cruz was an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Texas School of Law in Austin, where he taught U.S. Supreme Court litigation.

OK, that’s the *thumbnail* version of the Cruz journey to success.

From the same page source:

Cruz was born and spent the first four years of his life in Calgary before his parents returned to Houston. His father was jailed and tortured by the Batista regime and fought for Fidel Castro in the Cuban Revolution [30] but “didn’t know Castro was a Communist” (emphasis mine) and later became a staunch critic of Castro when “the rebel leader took control and began seizing private property and suppressing dissent”.[31] He moved to Austin, Texas, in 1957 to study at the University of Texas. He spoke no English and had $100 sewn into his underwear.[32]

The elder Cruz worked his way through school as a dishwasher making 50 cents an hour. Cruz’s mother, who was from Houston, was the first person in her family ever to go to college. She earned a math degree at Rice University in the 1950s, working summers at Foley’s and Shell.

“I’m Cuban, Irish, and Italian, and yet somehow I ended up Southern Baptist.”[2]

NOWHERE does Ted Cruz say I AM AN AMERICAN. Cuban, Irish and Italian? Well, apparently so, but an AMERICAN? I can’t find that on his profile at all.

He was born in Canada, Calgary, AB. His father was a Castro supporter and fought FOR Fidel Castro yet *claims* to have not known that Castro was a Communist. Seriously? And we’re suppose to buy that part about Cruz Sr. being a political prisoner?

If Cruz was fighting FOR Castro and his COMMUNIST takeover, Cruz was an enemy of the Batista regime. Teddy-boy needs to stop twisting the facts, or, more correctly, he needs to spell them out truthfully.

Stop intimating that your father was *arrested and tortured by a dictator*, NAME the *dictator*, or what is assumed to be a dictator, and make the world aware that your father was one STUPID man. I mean, anyone that fought FOR Fidel Castro and claims that they didn’t know that Castro was a Communist is either STUPID or a LIAR.

Which is it Ted? Spell it out and tell the truth, in direct and explicit words.

Do you want a foreign born person (Canada) sitting in the U.S. Senate as YOUR Senator? One that doesn’t know the truth, or LIES about the facts? One that can’t, or won’t stand up and say that he is an AMERICAN and nothing else?

Well, neither do I.

David Dewhurst is an American, Texas born and bred. David Dewhurst doesn’t have to lie about his family heritage and David Dewhurst is PROUD to stand and say, I AM A TEXAN AND AN AMERICAN!

Vote for David Dewhurst!

Anyone who represents the interests of the Communist Chinese is not an American. But they might be a mercenary. That be Cruz.

What really amazes me is the number of people that I know, I mean personally KNOW, some are elected officials, some aren’t, but I know a lot of folks that ARE supporting Cruz..

Maybe they need to read MY blog a bit more…

Or, I’ll have some folks telling to to F the F off over Cruz… I can’t stand the guy…

Well, Fred, I’m one more person you know personally who is a supporter of Ted Cruz. I didn’t come to your web page to knock Dewhurst or to advance Cruz. But you know as well as anyone that I read your blogs on a regular basis. I’m not a Paulista nor do I think I act like one.

But on this particular race, we are on opposite sides. But come November I promise you I will support whichever is the most conservative candidate “still standing.” And I suspect you will also.

        Keep your powder dry

        • TexasFred says:

1st time we’ve ever been on opposite sides.. But, come November, yeah, if Cruz is the one, I will NOT vote for a Democrat…

But I sure think Cruz is a messed up dude… I mean, Sarah Palin endorsed him… How bad is that?

  2. minuteman26 says:

Not a lot of people do their homework and delve into the candidate’s background. They just follow the herd. The facts that Obama was a Communist and a muslim were there in 2008 but were ignored. Now the country is about ready to go under. Voters need to wake the hell up or learn to shoot.

  3. Robert says:

Well forgive me if I don’t cry for you Texans. Seems to me EITHER of these two would be a combination Reagan/George Patton compared to the clowns in my state. Poor bastards, you gotta pick between a T-bone and Ribeye. I gotta pick between pig slop stew and cow pie chille… :-(

  4. Bloviating Zeppelin says:

Robert nailed it. Our assclowns don’t know the difference between $9 billion and $16 billion dollars.

Ooopsie. Bigger deficit. And oh, gosh, looks like our revenues are down more than we thought, too.
