White House ponders a strike over Libya attack

WASHINGTON (AP) - The White House, under political pressure to respond forcefully to the Sept. 11 attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, is readying strike forces and drones but first has to find a target.

And if the administration does find a target, officials say it still has to weigh whether the short-term payoff of exacting retribution on al-Qaida is worth the risk that such strikes could elevate the group’s profile in the region, alienate governments the U.S. needs to fight the group in the future and do little to slow the growing terror threat in North Africa.

Details on the administration’s position and on its search for a possible target were provided by three current and one former administration official, as well as an analyst who was approached by the White House for help. All four spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the high-level debates publicly.

In another effort to bolster Libyan security, the Pentagon and State Department have been developing a plan to train and equip a special operations force in Libya, according to a senior defense official.

It has been said that great minds think alike; I believe there is something to that idea, you see, my friend Art posted this on Facebook:

Looking into my crystal ball we have a debate tonight and the next one is on Monday the 22nd not even a week away which will be on foreign policy… So, bambam is bound to do better this evening cause how the hell could he do worse and he will try to ‘ride that wave’ for at least a couple days and then the weekend is here to gear up for the Monday showdown… So, how do you think he will ‘gear up’ for the debate on foreign policy??? Maybe with a strike on Libya this weekend going after those that attacked our consulate to beef up his image?? To get that ‘rally around the flag’ effect?? To quiet any speculation about his lying and cover up before Monday…

Whatcha think…. Who wants to take that bet?? …

Now to this great minds thing.

It has been well over a month since the Embassy in Benghazi, Libya was attacked and 4 Americans were MURDERED! So far, not one thing has been done in retaliation, not one bomb has been dropped and the MURDERS of these Americans, at the hands of Islamic terrorists, have NOT been avenged.

I had this post *in queue* this morning, I was going to write a commentary but REAL life got in the way and we were out of the house most of the afternoon. When we got home I saw the comments by Art on Facebook and I remembered this story from the AP and thought, why not just tie them in together?

Military activity is a BIG crowd pleaser and Barack Hussein Obama could well use this weekend as his opportunity to *play politics* with the lost lives of FOUR Americans and the loss of our Embassy.

You see, had there been an act of retribution, had it happened soon after this attack and MURDER, many would have seen it as Obama standing up for America and driving home the point of *Don’t Mess With America*.

Now, at this late stage of the game, and with Presidential debates, and their effect on the upcoming election on the line, ANY action by Obama will, or SHOULD be seen for exactly what it truly is; a very lame attempt at vote buying using the deaths of these Americans in Benghazi as his currency.

The Obama administration is nothing more than political theater, poor theater, but theater none the less, and will engage in any action or tactic they believe will hold office for them.
