Gun Control Advocates Need to Listen to Gun Owners, Obama Says
WASHINGTON – President Obama said that he and his guests go skeet shooting at Camp David “all the time” and that gun control advocates need “to do a little more listening” to understand why so many Americans are wary of government limits on firearms.
In an interview released Sunday morning, Mr. Obama acknowledged that getting his package of gun proposals through Congress could be tough, and he expressed empathy for the strong sentiments of gun owners. Like Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr., who has mentioned that he owns two shotguns, Mr. Obama tried to associate himself with those who enjoy firing guns.
“Up at Camp David, we do skeet shooting all the time,” he told The New Republic in the interview, conducted Jan. 16, just after he unveiled his gun proposals.
Asked about his family, he said, “Not the girls, but oftentimes guests of mine go up there. And I have a profound respect for the traditions of hunting that trace back in this country for generations. And I think those who dismiss that out of hand make a big mistake.”

I would SO love to believe Obama on this, I really would, but somehow, I just can’t help but see these words as a deflection, a ruse, a smoke and mirrors thing that is truly designed to lull gun owners into *trusting* him just before he attempts to drop the anvil right on top of our heads.
Somehow, I see Obama as the Cheshire Cat in this; distinctive and mischievous, often offering vexing conversations and raising philosophical points that annoy or baffle the minds of normal Americans. I also don’t see a word in the Second Amendment about shooting skeet.
To me, this one line tells me a lot about Obama, what I believe are his true feelings on guns and it illustrates, to ME at least, Barack Obama is NOT a skeet shooter and knows little, if anything about it; “Up at Camp David, we do skeet shooting all the time,”
I have been an avid shooter for over 50 years now, handguns, rifles, shotguns, I even took to some *black powder* shooting for a while. I was a hunter, big game and small game, and I loved to hunt birds, doves mostly, and I have busted a few caps on a skeet range, but I have NEVER heard ANYONE say “we DO skeet shooting all the time” or “let’s DO some skeet shooting”.
It’s a lot like that puzzling question of WHY is someone IN a movie but is ON television, you don’t DO skeet shooting, you GO skeet shooting, and I would bet everything I own on this; Barack Obama has never fired a skeet gun. Ever.
I have a page on Facebook called The United States Gun Owners Association and it’s open to ALL American Citizens that are gun owners that stand up for America and the Second Amendment.
Most of us ARE what the page was intended to be for, Americans that would stand up and FIGHT to keep their guns, defend the U.S. Constitution and protect our inalienable right to KEEP and BEAR Arms. We are TRUE believers that those rights shall not be infringed upon.
There are a few people that are members of our gun group that are whiners; “Oh golly gee I wish MY state was like Texas where guns are concerned” or “We can’t do the things in (California, Illinois, New York – pick one) that you guys do in Texas”, and to all of that I ask; WHAT THE HELL are you doing there? GET OUT.
Then I follow it with this: if you’re not going to get out, STOP BITCHING about how BAD YOUR state is and get busy with changing YOUR state … and MANY that I know ARE doing all they can to affect changes, working diligently to make those states into better places to live, and to them I stand and take my Stetson off to you!
Then there is this last bunch, the whiners I mentioned, and to them I say: if you’re not going to try and change YOUR state, if all you can do is whine and complain, if all you can do is cry on Facebook, if you’re not going to get in the fight and work with your elected officials that are worth working with, if you’re not going to try and remove the elected officials that make you *sad*, SHUT THE HELL UP!
Fight and win or die trying, past that, we don’t need to hear you cry…
And a VERY personal message to our Rowlett Mayor, Todd Gottel and Council Members Chris Kilgore, Doug Phillips, Michael Gallops, Carl Pankratz, Ron Miller and Donna Davis; a certain local Democratic leader in OUR city is trying to *bait* Todd into a discussion regarding MAIG, Mayors Against Illegal Guns.
Beware; it IS a trap.
MAIG says one thing and does something else. MAIG claims to be FOR the Second Amendment, then they follow that with a *BUT*…
MAIG can’t define exactly what an ILLEGAL gun is, but they want them to ALL be gone, the fact of the matter is this; NO GUN is ILLEGAL, it’s ownership by a certain part of the American population may be illegal, but GUNS are not ILLEGAL.
MAIG wishes it were not that way, as do their members and supporters, and you folks on the Rowlett Council know exactly to whom I am referring.
Sure fall for the rhetoric, tell your doc you have guns, don’t wait for question. Mental test…fail. It’s the sane folks with firearms they fear.
Wouldn’t it be nice to ask Obama a few questions like:
What do you average per round?
At what stations do you shoot doubles?
How many stations are there in a skeet range?
If he can answer these questions off the top of his head I will believe him. If not, he lied about this, too. I’d bet just about anything he would fail.
It’s bullshit, plain and simple. He’s trying to pull himself off as more the “common” and “reasonable” kind of guy to those in the gun advocacy groups — like many in the GOP — who are sufficiently stupid or vapid to buy his lines.
He speaks — and out come lies and platitudes designed to soothe the ignorant.
In the meantime, his hand reaches out behind your back and it’s clutching a stiletto.

Just as soon as I started reading the blog I had the same thoughts as you.. It’s all smoke and mirrors to cover what ever his majesty is dreaming up to do next… maybe an attempt at confiscation of all registered firearms… at least that’s the next step after registration of ‘em… at least that what A. H. did in the thirties..

A couple things about this.
First, Obama is blowing smoke, trying to confuse the issue. I’ll be surprised if he knows one end of a skeet gun from the other.
Second, how many times do we have to tell gun control advocates the 2nd Amendment isn’t about hunting? Falling for that line of crap would play right into their hands.
The 2nd Amendment states “the right of the peopleto keep and bear Arms, shall not beinfringed.” Obama can spout all the BS he wants, however, it doesn’t amount to anything other than cow pies. Be very careful Barry, you are underestimating “We The People”.
More baffle them with bull shit because he can’t dazzle us with brilliance. The attempt to split hunters from other gun owners is so transparent it’s pathetic.
Maybe it’s all that talk from different parts of the country about a real civil war that’s making them start to think a little.
Whiners whine about their states Fred, that’s just the way it is. I mean heck, I go to Texas, and the people there all say how they are amazed at the firearms freedom in Wyoming. “Open Range Law” is often said. Well, open carry is allowed with very few restrictions on where. Concealed carry? You can get a permit that is good in other states but no permit is needed for Wyoming citizens, again, with few restrictions as to where you can etc. Do your time and become a model person, and a pardon is an almost automatic thing. DV conviction? Do your classes and stay out of other trouble and in five years you can have your rights restored. Not sure about all that in Texas.
Maybe it’s a regional thing, but around here we say we shoot skeet.
At any rate, how many times has the attention whore actually gone to Camp David (away from the prying media) and gotten real work done while out of the public eye?
I can only think of one time when he actually utilized the Camp, at least the one time the media mentioned his trip.

So, just as I see the BS with what hitler said versus what he did, so I too see the BS of obama. He wants to rid us of our guns. No ifs, ands or buts about it.

But there was a video where he is telling voters that if they don’t want to vote for him, that is fine, but don’t not vote for him over gun control because he assures us that he will NEVER come after our guns. I hope someone posts the link to this video as I would like to save a copy of it and see it again.

Does anyone find it funny that now Obama claims to have been shooting? And funny that it is at Camp David without photographers or reporters.
I do believe that any shoot Obama did was as a child and his “gun” was his fingers. That is until his Moonbat Momma found out and paddled him.

Everything a president does is reported on the news. We knew every time Bush chopped wood or rode his bike in the desert. We know of every game of golf or basketball Obama plays and every time he goes swimming in Hawaii. But, how come we have NEVER heard of him shooting skeet? This should have been 24/7 coverage for him during his last term so he could “connect” with gun owners. Nothing….not a peep. It’s just BS on his part and the MSM won’t take him to task on it.
