85% Of Cops Say Gun Control Is Useless, Detrimental
Steve Watson: In a national survey of members of one of the largest groups for law enforcement professionals, an overwhelming majority of active duty and retired officers said that the Obama administration’s gun control proposals will either have no effect or will make things significantly worse.
In the survey conducted by PoliceOne.com, a stunning 85 percent of law enforcement professionals said that in their opinion, a federal ban on assault weapons would have no effect on crime, and would likely have a negative effect on their safety.
When asked whether a federal ban on ammunition magazines holding more than 10 rounds would reduce violent crime, 96 percent of law enforcement professionals said no.
The survey also revealed that nearly three times as many former and active police believe that a federal ban would exacerbate violent crime rather than help to reduce it.

This is the first time I have used Market Daily News as a source for a commentary, it was sent to me by my friend and neighbor, Capt. Ron, so here goes.
This story offers further citation to what I have been trying to tell the *tin foil hat* crowd for quite some time; our Police Officers and their leadership don’t buy into the ocean of stupidity that Obama and company are trying to force down our throats.
In addition, twice as many believe that they will be less safe than more safe because of the gun control provisions.
When asked what they thought was the best course of action to prevent incidents such as the recent Sandy Hook school and Aurora Theater shootings, almost one third of law enforcement professionals said “more permissive concealed carry policies for civilians.” In addition, 86 percent said that they felt a legally armed citizen could have reduced casualties at both incidents.
I have a lot of personal contact with Officers of the Law, on every level of Law Enforcement, and for the most part they ALL agree; concealed carry by legal, SANE and well prepared citizens makes their lives, the Officers, that much easier and safer.
The key to winning over our Law Officers regarding firearms in the hands of the average citizen is to show them that as responsible gun owners that you’re not afraid of training, that is, in what exactly you as a citizen can do, how to do it, the proper, safe and judicious use of your weapon and the maturity to bring it all together in a professional manner.
The mere ownership of a weapon instills confidence in no one save perhaps the person owning that weapon. It is training, common sense and applied knowledge that wins the day!
Furthermore, a huge 91 percent said that they support concealed carry by honest/screened citizens, and a massive 80 percent of respondents also said they supported arming school teachers and officials with guns.
“Contrary to what the mainstream media and certain politicians would have us believe, police overwhelmingly favor an armed citizenry, would like to see more guns in the hands of responsible people, and are skeptical of any greater restrictions placed on gun purchase, ownership, or accessibility.” said Doug Wylie, editor of PoliceOne.com.
Apparently the mainstream media has left a bad impression on nearly everyone in this nation that possesses working brain cells.
Let’s not play at this; Barack Obama and his minions in the House and Senate, as well as Eric Holder and the DOJ, are as anti-gun as it gets. That anti-gun screed spewed forth by them seems to be the mantra for the entire Democratic Party and all those on the Left.
I say that Obama, ALL of his regime and the entire Democratic Party are nothing more than anti-American hypocrites, if they’re NOT, then explain this to me.
The Dems (Obama and Company) insist that we, GOP and Conservatives, not judge Muslims by the actions of a few radicals that bring violence in the name of Islam.
Why then, do they (Obama and Company) judge ALL gun owners by the actions of a few radicals and mentally unstable cretins in possession of a gun?
One person with a gun commits a crime and suddenly ALL Americans that own guns are BAD and must pay the price for the actions of a criminal? That is not the America our Founders had in mind my friends, and Barack Obama, his Party and quite frankly, even the GOP itself are NOT what the Founders had in mind.
Wake up America!

I received that article too(from PoliceOne.com) and was able to read the polling questions (which is more important than the answers) pollsters can spin questions to get the answers they want-not so in this case; the questions weren’t tilted and gave one a variety of responses (degrees). The Law Enforcement community to the Obama Regime and its minions is what the military is to them; cannon fodder. All they’re worth to them is rent-a-crowd background for when they want to push legislation which is unpopular to the People. The only LEO or Military leaders they’ll quote or use are those who are lock-step in agreement with them. When he wants to cut National Defense, he trots our military leaders who are in agreement with him. When he wants to restrict gun rights, he trots out police chiefs who are in agreement with him. Funny how he uses these “leaders” to diminish the capability of the American People to protect their nation and themselves.

Fred, I can’t speak for the Law Enforcement world but for military, there are always those who will prostitute themselves to whoever is in power and can further their careers. For a general officer to retire above the two star level, it takes Senate approval and who controls the Senate? The retirement pay difference between a 2-star and 3-star is over $13,000 per year; enough to make some senior officers bow down in obedience.
Yes indeed, there are those same sorts in Law Enforcement…

That isn’t honest. Most cops know precisely how valuable is our Bill of Rights and Constitution — it’s what we’ve been sworn to uphold.

I agree with all of y’all here. There’s bad ones in every profession, and all walks of life, and sometimes those bad apples spoil the whole bunch.
It isn’t right but it happens, and the Dems wait like vultures to swoop down on what bad happens to make it into something to further their aim: turning the U.S. into the U.S.S.A. History has taught them nothing. Every time communism is tried it fails because people are geared to live free.
