Four Suicide Bombings Kill 175 in Iraq

BAGHDAD (AP) - Four suicide bombers hit a Kurdish Yazidi community in northwest Iraq on Tuesday, killing at least 175 people and wounding 200 others, the Iraqi military said.

The bombs tore through communities near Qahataniya, 75 miles west of Mosul, Iraq’s third-largest city, according to Iraq Army Capt. Mohammed Ahmed and Abdul-Rahman al-Shimiri, the top government official in the area.

The attack was the deadliest in Iraq since 215 people were killed Nov. 23 when mortar rounds and five car bombs devastated a Shiite neighborhood of Sadr City.

Dhakil Qassim, mayor of Sinjar, a town near where the attacks occurred, said al-Qaida in Iraq was behind the attack, citing what he said were Kurdish government intelligence reports.

But Baghdad has really calmed down, the surge is working, in Baghdad, I think, that’s the story anyway, Mr. Bush says it’s working…

I wonder how the people of Qahataniya feel about the success of the surge?? Do you think they feel like it’s working?? I wonder, are they happy with the current situation in Baghdad??

All silly sarcasm aside, this is nothing more than sectarian violence at it’s very best, and this is the thing that we can’t stop, even if we took total control of Iraq, and we ALL know that’s not going to happen, but even if we did, we can’t secure Iraq and make this go away, we can’t secure the U.S. - Mexican border and stop the flow of wetbacks invading this nation, how in the hell are we going to secure some other nation to the point that incidents like this don’t happen??

We can’t, and all these people telling you that we can are blowing smoke up your bloomers, they are drinking the ‘koolaid’ that the DoD and White House are passing out in their attempt to vindicate themselves regarding this debacle called Iraq…

Folks, we WON the war, that was a ‘gimme’, but we have blown the ‘peace’ all to hell and back, none of this sectarian violence and anti-democratic Iraq insurgency was prepared for by the Bush administration, they were advised it could, and very likely WOULD happen but the Bush administration ignored that advice, Bush expected Iraq to become an almost immediate version of Texas Lite, he expected a Dairy Queen in every little town and Starbucks on every corner, he expected the Iraqi people to literally fall at his feet like a conquering hero and liberator, but liberty in Iraq is still, after over 4 years of our efforts, it is still just a distant dream, and many more days like this and that dream is going to become nothing more than a nightmare…

I’m not saying that the USA has failed, we have put forth a valiant effort, but the effort put forth by the insurgency has been a lot more forceful, they don’t play by a set of rules, and until someone figures out how to stop this insurgency and bring the warring factions together in peace, Iraq will be a never ending battle, right up until the time the next Saddam steps up and puts the whole thing under his brutal thumb, THAT is the only type of government the Iraqis know, it’s the only kind of government they will be controlled by…

No, we haven’t lost in Iraq, no matter what the Dems say, but Mission Accomplished was a faux pas that will haunt Bush until his dying day…

That magic wand Bush thought he had turned out to be nothing more than a dumb shit stirring stick…

He’s still trying to wave like it’s working, he’ll never accept the fact that he put the batteries for it in upside down.

What the hell are you talking about?

There’s a Proctologist in Kansas that says the SURGE is working and if anyone should know about SURGES, it’s a Proctologist, LMAO.

Frankly I couldn’t give a shit less, 175 “civilians” were killed? and we didn’t do it? so whats the problem? Maybe allowing the terrorists to kill civilians is what we should do, then maybe they would really see the enemy.
I am more concerned about the chopper crash that took 5 American Soldiers lives. May the lord bless their families and comfort them in their loss.

If we are going to judge the so-called “surge” a success or failure, we should just look at our soldiers deaths in combat. I’m sick of us wet nursing a bunch of ungrateful Iraqi’s and paying in blood for it.

At some point the world needs to open their damn eyes and see the real enemy is those that take innocent lives for political gains and to influence public opinion.

Bush doesn’t have a damn clue about how to create a coalition (worthy of anything) and he certainly doesn’t know how to “Nation build” and as far as war fighting goes, he is as inept as any other leader that has tried to do good in evils belly.. The middle east would be a better parking lot at least then it would serve SOME purpose.

BTW How many days left till we do some landscaping in DC? (Bush Removal)
