Obama: No Hand on Heart for National Anthem

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007
A picture is worth a thousand words…

During rendition of the national anthem when the flag is displayed, all present except those in uniform should stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. Men not in uniform should remove their headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart. - United States Code, Title 36, Chapter 10, Sec. 171

Turns out that not wearing a flag lapel pin isn’t the only way Barack Obama chooses to show he’s a different kind of Democrat.

Have a look at the photo from the October 1, 2007 edition of “Time.” It shows Obama, Hillary and Bill Richardson at the Steak Fry of Sen. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) on September 17 in Indianola, IA during [according to the photo caption] the National Anthem. Richardson and Clinton have their hands on their heart. But not Obama. Does he perhaps believe that, like wearing the flag pin, the hand on the heart isn’t “true patriotism”?

“Time” ran the photo without comment. I haven’t seen coverage of this anywhere else in the MSM. Perhaps some enterprising reporter can ask the Illinois senator about his decision to spurn this American tradition.

Meanwhile, does Obama have some third act or omission planned to demonstrate that he’s not falling for those corny, old-fashioned displays of patriotism?

H/T reader J.S.

NOTE: The original version of this item, based on a reader submission, stated that the photo was apparently taken during the Pledge of Allegiance. I’ve now located the original “Time” image, whose caption states that it was taken during the National Anthem.

Obama: No Hand on Heart for National Anthem

I know there will be a few readers that say I’m picking on Obama because he’s black and because I’m a NAZI or a racist, or a skinhead or some such garbage, and to those people I say, as usual, you’re wrong, I am taking issue with Obama on this matter because he IS an un-American, closet Muslim ASSHOLE

Is that plain enough for all the reverse racists, bleeding heart libbers and dyed in the wool Dems out there?? Your boy Obama has NO concept of AMERICA, he has no love of country, he is an empty suit and his only agenda is to get elected so he can, in MY opinion, surrender this nation to Islam…

His words say otherwise but his actions speak the truth, a lot more than he would care to have known, any man that will NOT honor the flag of his nation is NOT a patriot, if the Dems in this nation are too stupid to see this for themselves, they are truly a lost cause, and I sincerely hope that they are NOT that stupid, don’t fall for the bullshit that comes from this America hating SOB Obama, he is NOT what he wishes you to believe him to be…

A hat tip to my blogging buddy Chicago Ray for having this story up, I found it there and I hope every blogger in this nation uses it, even the so-called progressives, Obama is their enemy as much as he is the enemy of all Conservatives…

‘Disarray’ on $1.2 billion Iraq contract

Audit: ‘Disarray’ on $1.2 billion Iraq contract

U.S. can’t account for DynCorp performance in training police, report says

Just as the State Department is trying to work its way clear of its Blackwater troubles, a scathing federal audit released Tuesday exposes a glaring lapse in oversight of another federal contractor in Iraq, DynCorp. DynCorp was supposed to train and equip Iraqi police, but the report says the State Department doesn’t know how most of the money in the billion-plus-dollar program was spent.

The State Department “does not know specifically what it received for most of the $1.2 billion in expenditures under its DynCorp contract for the Iraqi Police Training Program,” the audit says. The federal watchdogs, with the Special Inspector General for Iraq Reconstruction, or SIGIR, said that they even had to suspend their audit because there wasn’t enough data to check the books, which were in “disarray.”

DynCorp’s contract was part of the U.S. strategy to arm and train a new Iraqi police force in the wake of the 2003 invasion. Training the police was a key part of the Bush administration’s efforts in Iraq. The training was considered crucial because police are often unable to withstand insurgent attacks, and are considered penetrated by various militias.

If you look in your Funk & Wagnalls for the definition of utter disarray you’ll find a footnote saying, see ‘Bush Administration’ and another similar entry saying, ‘Bush in Iraq’

I shouldn’t make lite of this I suppose, the success of the Iraqi army and police, and their ability to stand up on their own is, according to Bush himself, the deciding factor as to when or IF our troops ever get to come home and I for 1 have said for quite some time, the Iraqi army and police can’t stand on their own simply because they are too infiltrated with Islamic insurgents and militias, well, lo and behold, a study comes out saying the same thing, I’ll bet that is really tweaking a few noses…

But, it also appears that the inability of the Iraqis to stand up may not be all their fault, maybe DynCorp screwed the pooch, maybe the Iraqis aren’t trainable, maybe the State Department just totally lost the handle on the operation,, perhaps it’s a combination of all of the above, who knows, but it looks like we have another few billion of our tax dollars thrown down the drain with nothing to show for it except some lighter pockets for OUR effort…

If the information in the MSNBC story is accurate it serves to point out once again that Iraq has been a mismanaged and micromanaged disaster, one that is killing our troops for NO good reason and killing the American taxpayer in the process…

Bowen’s auditors said the environment was “ripe for waste and fraud.” DynCorp’s invoices had numerous problems, such as duplicate payments. Auditors also reported on the “the purchase of a $1.8 million X-ray scanner that was never used, and payments of $387,000 to house DynCorp officials in hotels in Iraq rather than in existing living facilities.” (A State Department spokesperson disputes that, in part, and says the unused X-ray scanner and hotels were in Afghanistan rather than Iraq.) Bowen says the State Department says it will try to organize its books so that the auditors can come back at the end of the year and try again.

If you’re in business with someone and you KNOW that they are cooking the books, what do you do?? You dump em like a hot potato, you bring charges, you prosecute, you try and recoup some of your losses, but you don’t let them just keep on running the operation for you, all the while allowing them to find new and more efficient ways to screw you over even more…

In a letter responding to the audit, the Acting Assistant Secretary of the State Department’s INL wrote that it “will take three to five years” to “fully review and validate invoices” for pre-October 2006 work. The letter points out that there have been vast improvements. Bowen, the IG, agreed.

And there goes even MORE millions upon millions of our tax dollars in an attempt to find out who spent what and what did the buy, but there have been vast improvements?? Why was there no oversight of these expenditures to begin with?? What did State do?? Just write the checks and tell DynCorp to go play and have a good time??

There has always been acts of profiteering in war time, always will be, but to let it happen simply because the U.S. government is too lazy to police itself is simply ridiculous…

Bush seeks $550 million for Latin America’s drug war

Monday, October 22nd, 2007

WASHINGTON — President Bush asked Congress today for $550 million to help Mexico and Central America fight drug trafficking amid escalating violence, particularly on the Texas-Mexico border.

The funding request, part of a two- to three-year package that would total about $1.4 billion, is included in a $46 billion proposal for additional funding for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

“It delivers vital assistance for our partners in Mexico and Central America who are working to break up drug cartels, and fight organized crime, and stop human trafficking,” Bush said at the White House, shortly after calling Mexican President Felipe Calderon.

Mexico would receive the lion’s share of the aid package, $500 million, and Central America would get $50 million, officials said.

The aid package for Mexico, which officials have been negotiating since Bush met with Calderon in Merida, Mexico, last March, would include funds for additional Mexican military helicopters and other surveillance aircraft, drug-sniffing dogs and telecommunications equipment.

Bush seeks $550 million for Latin America’s drug war - Houston Chronicle

Well my oh my, the Little Prince wants a big wad of money to wage a war on drugs in Latin America, isn’t that special??

I guess someone forgot to tell him, we’ve been doing that for at least 3 decades that I am personally aware of, and from stories I’ve heard, we were involved in the narcotics trade uh, oops, WAR on drugs a long time before that, if rumors are to be believed that is, I have no personal knowledge of that your honor, really!!

The Mexicans can buy their own helicopters, dogs and telecommunications equipment, contrary to popular belief, Mexico is NOT broke, they have huge oil revenues and the money that they confiscate from drug raids can go to the purchase of all that 1st class equipment el Presidente’ Bush wants to give to his amigos…

If Bush is sincere about stopping the flow of illegal drugs into the USA all he has to do is enforce the sovereignty of our borders, coast lines and air space, and I don’t mean some little half-assed effort, the inbound CAN be stopped, much as can the flow of ILLEGAL aliens into this nation, and if you think about it, if you shut down the drug flow and stop the wetbacks at the same time, you kill 2 birds with one stone, and WE, the American people, WIN…

But Bush isn’t going to do ANYTHING that will change the status of our border with Mexico, and quite likely he’ll give his amigos any amount of money they want, I mean, hey, it’s just money, U.S. TAX dollars, and we have DEEP pockets, right??

We might as well send it to Mexico to be stolen and misused…

Turkish Parliament Approves Iraq Mission

Wednesday, October 17th, 2007

ANKARA, Turkey (AP) - Parliament on Wednesday overwhelmingly approved a possible cross-border offensive against Kurdish rebels in northern Iraq, although the government appears willing to give diplomatic pressure on the U.S.-backed Iraqi administration more time to work.

Lawmakers voted 507-19 in favor of empowering the government to order the military to cross into Iraq during a one-year period, Parliament Speaker Koksal Toptan said. They then burst into applause.

Turkish leaders have stressed that an offensive against the rebels of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, or PKK, would not immediately follow the expected authorization.

In Washington, President Bush said the United States was making clear to Turkey it should not send a massive number of troops into Iraq.

Turkish Parliament Approves Iraq Mission

Well Mr. President, there were MANY people that advised YOU not to go into Iraq, and you didn’t listen to them, there are MANY MORE people today that constantly implore you to get US the hell out of Iraq, and you turn a deaf ear to their pleas, why should the Turks listen to YOU?? What are you going to do?? Piss off one of the better allies we have in the region?? That seems to be your method of doing business, so it really wouldn’t come as a surprise to ANYONE I suppose…

And here’s what I don’t get, Bush Opposes Turkish Offensive but he goes ahead and does his ‘honors’ thing for the Dalai Lama at the risk of incurring the wrath of China…

Now it’s not that I really give a damn about pissing off the Chinese, because I don’t, but we don’t have the whereto to take a BATTLE to China right now, we’re mired in Iraq, a place the size of Texas for crying out loud, and according to sources this little piece of shit nation has OUR military stretched to the breaking point, so how in the HELL could we afford to do battle with China?? Over the Dalai Lama??

Bush knows about as much concerning diplomacy as I know about nuclear science, a word that I can actually pronounce by the way, nuclear that is, and if we’re not careful, it won’t matter WHO the next POTUS is, because the one we have now will have already taken us into war with the rest of the world…

Gov. Perry endorses Giuliani for president

Wednesday, October 17th, 2007

AUSTIN — Gov. Rick Perry this morning endorsed former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani for president, saying on Fox News that he would campaign for the man he believes is best-suited to lead America during “probably one of the most important times in our history with a war on terror going on.”

“For the last six months, I have cogitated, I’ve looked, I’ve studied these candidates — some of them I know very well — and came to the conclusion that the individual who can lead America with clarity, the individual who has the experience, the individual who cleaned up a city that was absolutely on its back is mayor Rudy Giuliani,” Perry said.

“I’m proudly and excitedly going to campaign for him and work for him,” Perry said, appearing on Fox & Friends for what was touted by the news channel as a “humongous Texas-sized announcement.”

Perry, who promotes his record as a conservative, made a reference to a difference in views on some issues with Giuliani, who has backed the right to abortion and gay rights.

I never had a lot either FOR or AGAINST Rick Perry, until now…

Giuliani is NOT a Conservative, he’s a lot closer to the Dems than he is the Repubs, the guy is a RINO, a Republican In Name Only…

Excuse me for MY ignorance but I really thought Perry had a bit more sense than that, some are already speculating that this is nothing more than Perry applying for the position of Vice President if Giuliani gets the nod, I think they may be correct…

I guess I was wrong about Perry, and this is an excellent example of WHY no one needs to EVER vote a straight party ticket, vote for the best candidate, NOT the party, and if Perry thinks Giuliani is the BEST, then Rick Perry is a fool…

Arlington Standoff ends badly…

Saturday, October 13th, 2007

A 32-year-old man who killed his estranged wife and two stepchildren in Fort Worth held Arlington police at bay for several hours Friday afternoon, holed up in his car, before speeding off and driving into Lake Arlington, where he shot himself in the head.

Arthur Jackson was pronounced dead at the scene Friday night.

Police became aware of Jackson’s ordeal at 12:24 p.m. when Jackson dropped off his 3-year-old daughter at Mayfield Road Baptist Church in Arlington. The child was covered in blood but was uninjured. She has temporarily been placed in foster care.

“He stated to them that he just killed some people and was going to kill some more,” said Christy Gilfour, Arlington police spokeswoman.

A few minutes later, Arlington police found Jackson in his car parked in a driveway of a relative’s home in the 3300 block of Carter Drive and began to negotiate with him. Police blocked the driveway with a 16,000-pound armored truck.

This was all over the national news yesterday, and as you can imagine, here in the D/FW area, we were inundated with it…

My sympathies go out to the family and friends, this is a terrible loss and I know you’re hurting and I am truly sorry for that but to the associated police departments involved in this standoff I have to ask, what in the HELL were you guys doing?? The local news had already started to spin this one at 10:00 PM last night, they had some police spokesmen on saying that proper police procedures were followed, oh really?? What kind of police procedure was this??

At 7:25 p.m., police say Jackson rammed his gray Nissan Altima into the armored truck and drove over a lawn to escape.

This article says “Police blocked the driveway with a 16,000-pound armored truck.” and the guy rams the damned thing with a Nissan Altima and gets away??

Here’s a suggestion for the Keystone Cops of Arlington, get you several of those Nissan Altima cars, they would be a lot cheaper than armored assault vehicles, and they appear to be a hell of a lot tougher too…

Incredible, simply incredible…
