He said what?

Barack Obama suggested Thursday the “typical white person” - much like his grandma - fears black men on the street, prompting a quick backpedal from his aides, who conceded the senator’s words may give the wrong impression.

During an interview on a Philadelphia radio station, Obama was asked about his candid remarks about his white maternal grandmother during an address on race relations Tuesday. In that speech, he said his grandmother confessed “her fear of black men who passed her by on the street.”

“The point I was making was not that my grandmother harbors any racial animosity. She doesn’t,” Obama told WIP Sports Radio.”But she is a typical white person who, if she sees somebody on the street that she doesn’t know, there’s a reaction that’s been bred into our experiences that don’t go away, and that sometimes come out in the wrong way, and that’s just the nature of race in our society.”

In the speech, he sought to calm the fury surrounding the controversial remarks of his former pastor, Jeremiah Wright, saying he could no more disown Wright than he could his grandmother, who helped raise him.

Barack Obama tries to explain that ‘good people’ still hold racial stereotypes

To a certain degree, Barack Hussein Obama is correct in his statement, “good people still hold racial stereotypes”, good people DO still hold certain racial stereotypes, I’m one of them, and yes, I do have some racism in me, I don’t deny it, and I can’t think of anyone I know, of ANY race, that doesn’t hold at least some kind of stereotypical feelings regarding race and racial bias, but I don’t blatantly flaunt my feelings on the issue, I don’t denigrate an entire race, or races, simply because of the actions of a few individuals that attempt to sway the opinion of the world as they embrace their racism like a shield…

What Barack Hussein Obama fails to say here is that good people don’t spend 20 years of their lives following and supporting these types of individuals, good people stand up for what is right and speak out against the type of blatant racist that he, Obama, has chosen as a pastor and spiritual advisor, and has selected to be his minister for the last 20 years…

Barack Hussein Obama is doing everything possible to justify the remarks of his Rev. Wright and he just can’t get the job done, simply because there is NO justification to be had, replace a few words of Wrights sermon in question and insert the words BLACK, BLACK AMERICA and Goddamn BLACK AMERICA and you’d be listening to a speech by a white supremacist, skinhead or a Klan leader, you know the ones I refer to, and it is a certainty that if ANY white person made such statements, the entire black community would be calling for his head to be removed, much as Obama himself called for the removal of Don Imus after the nappy headed ho’s comments, ABC News: Obama: Fire Imus…

And even now Obama refuses to condemn his preacher for making remarks that were much worse…

I submit to you that Barack Hussein Obama is not only a racist and a racist supporter, but a hypocrite as well, and he has NO business leading this nation as president, he is NOT the kind of person the USA needs in that position…

SCRANTON, Pa. (AP) - Democrat Barack Obama on Monday promised Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans help with their grievances - save one. “I know it drives you nuts. But I’m not going to lower the drinking age,” the presidential candidate said.

Army veteran Ernest Johnson, 23, of Connecticut, said one of the things that peeved him before he turned 21 was that he couldn’t come home and drink a beer - even though he was old enough to serve in the armed services and die for his country.

Obama told Johnson he sympathized, but that setting the legal drinking age at 21 had helped reduce drunken driving incidents and should remain.

The Illinois senator was taping a round-table discussion with eight veterans that is to be broadcast by MTV on the fifth anniversary of the start of the Iraq war.

Obama is a fool, anyone, and I DO mean anyone that thinks the drinking age should be 21 is a fool and I’ll tell you why, if I am old enough to vote, if I am old enough to serve in the military, if I am old enough to take the life of another human being in the defense of my country, then by God, I am damn sure old enough to have a drink…

And if I am NOT considered to be old enough to have a legal drink at an age where I can be an active military member, then the age of military service needs to be changed to 21 at the minimum, like that’s going to happen…

I fully believe that the legal drinking age should be 18 years of age, if for no other reason than this, if you are old enough to die FOR your country, shouldn’t you be allowed to have a legal drink IN your country??

To me it’s the ultimate hypocrisy to ask a man to carry a rifle, defend this nation and put his life on the line and then tell him he’s NOT man enough to have a cold beer if he wants one, total hypocrisy, and I guess that’s why an asshat like Obama would support not changing the age of legal consent…

The Chicago church attended by Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) issued a statement Sunday contending that coverage of his pastor’s inflammatory remarks amounted to character assassination and “an attack on … the history of the African American church.”

Obama distanced himself from inflammatory comments by the Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr., retiring pastor at Trinity United Church of Christ, after they circulated on YouTube last week and were played repeatedly by cable news channels.

Wright, condemning society as racist, said, “God [expletive] America” and referred to the “U.S. of KKK-A.”

The statement begins: “Nearly three weeks before the 40th commemorative anniversary of the murder of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the Reverend Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr.’s character is being assassinated in the public sphere because he has preached a social gospel on behalf of oppressed women, children and men in America and around the globe.”

The statement adds: “Trinity United Church of Christ’s ministry is inclusive and global.”

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Navy admiral in charge of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan announced Tuesday that he is resigning over press reports portraying him as opposed to President Bush’s Iran policy.

Adm. William J. Fallon, one of the most experienced officers in the U.S. military, said the reports were wrong but had become a distraction hampering his efforts in the Middle East. Fallon’s area of responsibility includes Iran and stretches from Central Asia across the Middle East to the Horn of Africa.

“I don’t believe there have ever been any differences about the objectives of our policy in the Central Command area of responsibility,” Fallon said, and he regretted “the simple perception that there is.” He was in Iraq when he made the statement.

Defense Secretary Robert Gates told a Pentagon news conference that he accepted Fallon’s request to resign and retire from the Navy, agreeing that the Iran issue had become a distraction. But Gates said repeatedly that he believed talk of Fallon opposing Bush on Iran was mistaken.

NEW YORK (AP) - Gov. Eliot Spitzer, the crusading politician who built his career on rooting out corruption, has told senior advisers he was involved in a prostitution ring, The New York Times reported Monday. In a public statement, Spitzer apologized to his family and the public but did not elaborate on the reported links to a prostitution ring.

The Times reported that a person with knowledge of the governor’s role believes the governor is identified as a client in court papers. Four people allegedly connected to a high-end prostitution ring called Emperors Club VIP were arrested last week.

The Web site of the Emperors Club VIP displays photographs of scantily clad women with their faces hidden. It also shows hourly rates depending on whether the prostitutes were rated with one diamond, the lowest ranking, or seven diamonds, the highest. The most highly ranked prostitutes cost $5,500 an hour, prosecutors said.

Prosecutors said the defendants arranged connections between wealthy men and more than 50 prostitutes in New York, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, Miami, London and Paris.

The Times reported that the governor’s travel records show he was in Washington in mid-February, and that one of the clients arranged to meet with a prostitute on the night of Feb. 13.
