Threats linked to health votes prompt security

Unrest over sweeping federal health care legislation has turned to vandalism and threats, with bricks hurled through Democrats’ windows, a propane line cut at the home of a congressman’s brother and menacing phone messages left for lawmakers who supported the bill.

The FBI is investigating the instances, which include shattered windows at four Democratic offices in New York, Arizona and Kansas. At least 10 members of Congress have reported some sort of threat as of Wednesday, and no arrests have been made.

The brick flung through the window of a county Democratic Party office in Rochester, New York, over the weekend had a note attached: “Extremism in defense of liberty is no vice,” roughly quoting 1964 Republican presidential nominee Barry Goldwater.

A New York congresswoman whose office window also was smashed with a brick accused the Republican leadership of failing to denounce attacks against lawmakers who supported the legislation. The vandalism was at Democratic Rep. Louise Slaughter’s district office in Niagara Falls early Friday, two days before the House passed the health care overhaul bill.

“It’s more disturbing to me that Republican leadership has not condemned these attacks and instead appears to be fanning the flames with coded rhetoric,” said Slaughter, a key supporter of the bill.

Threats linked to health votes prompt security

First, and foremost, I have to say, this was NOT the work of PATRIOTS, it is the ill-conceived efforts of uncouth louts suffering from a strain of violence that they feel must be carried out. Or, perhaps it’s that of pure trouble makers that seek to incite radical violence in this nation.

I know one thing, this is NOT an act that was ordered by The TEA Party Organization, it is not an act that is endorsed by the great majority of The TEA Party groups.

On the afternoon of March 24, 2010, Shepard Smith of FOX News was reporting on this same story with FOX News reporter Carl Cameron. It sounded as if Smith were looking for a reason to blame this on The TEA Party or some TEA Party members.

I can’t speak for ALL TEA Party members, but as for me, it is MY opinion that if there is ANY proof that this was an act perpetrated by TEA Party members, of any affiliation, be they Executive Board, General Board or rank and file, those individuals need to be removed from The TEA Party and disavowed, never to be allowed back into the organization again.

Gun imagery was used in a posting on the Facebook page of Sarah Palin urging people to organize against 20 House Democrats who voted for the health care bill and whose districts went for the John McCain-Palin ticket two years ago. Palin’s post featured a U.S. map with circles and cross hairs over the 20 districts.

Now is NOT the time Ms. Palin. Calm heads must prevail and ANY imagery that is remotely related to guns will be used in a negative manner by the media. You’d think that Sarah Palin would already know that. Well by golly don’tcha know she does doggone it!

I am NOT going to sit here and say that the American people will never have to rise and take back this nation, that will remain an open and viable possibility, and an option in the future. We are, after all, a nation built on rebellion and revolution against an oppressive government.

But this is NOT the right time, not yet. All legal and peaceful means of resolution will have to be fully exhausted before radical actions take place.

Tea party activists had posted the brother’s address online thinking it was the congressman’s home. The post urged opponents to drop by and “express their thanks” for the Democrat’s vote in favor of the sweeping health care reform.

If this is true, IF a TEA Party member posted this on-line, someone, in MY opinion, seriously needs to take control of that particular TEA Party group and get it headed in the RIGHT direction. Some of their members need to be expelled, and I don’t mean just the rank and file!

Nigel Coleman, chairman of the Danville Tea Party, said he re-posted the comment that originated on another conservative blog, including the address, Monday on his Facebook page. The posts were taken down after the mistake was discovered.

“We’ve never been associated with any violence or any vandalism,” he said. “We’re definitely sorry that we posted the incorrect address.”

As sorry as you may be for that posting, you should have known better. This is not a club for kids, this is a REAL political organization and should be run by REAL adults, ones that possess a bit of leadership skills and know that you don’t post anyones home address, for ANY reason. I am of the opinion that they knew that. That’s just MY opinion, but, it falls back on that thing I hold most sacrosanct, Journalistic Integrity!

A while back, Michelle Malkin published the home addresses of some cretins that were not too happy with her. She did it in retribution, pay back! They had posted her address and a map to her house.

I don’t blame Malkin for being angry, they put her, her family and her home in danger. But for Malkin to turn around and do the same thing? Two wrongs do NOT make a RIGHT and I have had no use for Michelle Malkin ever since. Journalistic Integrity. She blew hers in MY opinion!

Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli, who has filed a lawsuit challenging the health care overhaul and is a favorite of the Tea Party, said for activists to post an address of Perriello’s family shows that things are going too far.

“That is way over the line,” he said. “It’s not civil discourse, it’s an invitation to intimidation and it’s totally unacceptable.”

I could not agree more!

Ladies and Gentlemen, we are Conservatives, not radicals, but it appears that there are a few radicals in our midst. That is NOT what The TEA Party is about, that is NOT what we are and I would suggest that anyone that doesn’t know what The TEA Party stands for take a look at this link: The Rowlett TEA Party

Talk to a TEA Party member, ask questions, learn what we are about, what we believe, what we stand for and how we seek to bring about the much needed change, the REAL change that the people of this nation want and need, not the chump change that’s being offered by the current group in the White House and on Capitol Hill.

I wrote this in a post on March 23rd.

But remember this: Always speak the truth. Speak intelligently. DO NOT make threats of violence or death against Obama or any members of the Congress or the Senate. Assemble LEGALLY, and peacefully. NEVER utter threats against any that oppose the TEA Party. Be an American PATRIOT in every sense of the word!

Be proud of this USA and all that She should stand for.

Tea partiers vow revenge over health overhaul

Apparently there are some that didn’t heed my advice, and their actions have caused The TEA Party to be seen in a bad light. There is NO excuse for that!

    Fred,

I have no doubt some threats are being made and that is unfortunate and we need to discourage such acts as you have done here, but I also think the dems will make more of this than is warranted as an excuse to not appear in public in their home districts and receive the wrath of their constituents.

  2. comment number 2 by: TexasFred

Spook, agreed, they will make much more of it than is actually happening, but we in turn have to denounce it as vehemently as possible.

  3. comment number 3 by: Patrick Sperry

While I can understand the anger that many have, I would not expect this type of activity from adults. Looks more like the acting out of a teenager than from any serious adult.

    VERY well said Mr Fred!

    1. Shepard Smith is a lefty. 2. Don’t put it past the demonrats to create some of these incidents themselves so that a crisis can be created. They are afterall trying to destroy this nation by any means possible.

Fred, I’m worried about two things in this security business and threatening of lawmakers. First, I fear a Reichstag ploy by the Obamaites followed by, next, a governmental shutdown on conservative/libertarian people and groups. You are right, there is great anger in the land AND A LOT OF REAL FEAR, too. With the Muslim Obama, AKA Barry Sotero, we are dealing with a thug of the Lenin variety. Put nothing past his group. Up here on the Front Range our little Betsy Markey(D-04) has asked that extra surveillance be placed on her office down in Ft Collins.
Just this morn Chuck Norris says the silence you hear now is the boiling anger of the American people. The lid will surely come off—sometime.

    Fred,
Whereas I agree with your sentiment in principle, I would like to remind you that it was vandalism that started the American Revolution, and not just the infamous “Boston tea party”, but numerous acts against the representatives of the crown. What we have here are the grumblings of a frustrated society, the early noises of revolt.
Revolution is not, cannot be nice and polite. It has been exhaustively demonstrated that polite objection accomplishes nothing in politics.

  8. comment number 8 by: Vincent

By the way, I do not condone vandalism or any of the mentioned acts thereof.

As I said, “All legal and peaceful means of resolution will have to be fully exhausted before radical actions take place.”

That time of exhaustion may be close, that is in the hands of the Dem/Libbers…

I don’t condone civil insurrection, but if push comes to shove, ALL options are open…

  10. comment number 10 by: Vincent

    I can agree with that!

  11. comment number 11 by: Bloviating Zeppelin

You are correct; until more options are exhausted this is unacceptable and thuggish behavior; we have to operate from a point of moral certainty and a higher plane. This is not the time for that, when other avenues yet exist. As you point out: no one knows where this will end up. But for now, moves like this are ill-conceived, loutish — not to mention in many cases illegal — and not beneficial in the slightest. I too suspect the actions not to be those of true TEA Party personnel.

Also, it looks like action isn’t solely aimed at Demorats:

“House Republican Whip Eric Cantor (R-Va.) said today a bullet was shot through the window of his campaign office in Richmond, Va. this week, giving just another example of the numerous acts of violence and threats against members of Congress this week.”

So poor Markey is afraid of those back woods residents of Weld County Doc..?

    *ROARS LAUGHING!*

So much of these sorts of things are being reported that I am wondering just how much is being done by obamanites just to stir things up. Plus,as noted above, it’s not just dems that are getting targeted.

Shucks! Mickey doesn’t like me anymore. I’m crushed. sigh… Guess it had something to do with me telling him to stop the copy and paste nonsense every time Blackburn’s name is mentioned. :?

Personal opinion, I agree that it may very well be the act of dem operatives. Kristallnacht comes to mind.

  16. comment number 16 by: Robert

Yep nutbags everywhere, they were there for 8 years under GWB. Funny if you ask capitol police who they would rather have protesting at the capitol they will tell you UNABASHED “Tea party folks, conservative folks” ask them, that’s a pretty good barometer.

I suggest we bring the discussion back to the topic, we have fell into the tactic of the liberpukes, they got us defending that which does not need defending. All the while they are breathing a sigh of relief. Bring the discussion back to the governments intrusion, the tax and spend, the socialistic ways of our current POTUS and his ilk, that’s the fight.

  17. comment number 17 by: Ron Russell

We don’t know who is responsible for these acts of vandalism. They could very well be coming from those on the left, knowing that the MSM would quickly point an accusing finger at the right and the Tea Party movement in an attempt to discredit and marginalize them.

We are bombarded by acts of violence daily from those on the left, that pretty much goes unnoticed in the MSM, but when such acts are committed by those on the right its treated as a case of “man biting dog”. Violence on the left is so common place as to be deemed not news worthy. Besides it doesn’t fit the agenda of the MSM to point the accusing finger at the left, the right is another story.

As for Shepard Smith, he is a stone cold leftist and anyone who watches him regularly can see that. He is supposed to be a hard news guy, but at times his true feeling come out. Hate to admit he is a Mississippi boy.

  18. comment number 18 by: BobF

There’s been a lot on the news with the so-called threats to Democrats and barely a mention of the bullet fired at Cantor’s office. During the past two presidential elections, Republican campaign headquarters in various cities were shot up but no condemnation by the Democrats was given. Now, we’ve got Obama on an in-your-face tour of America telling the American people to “bring it on” in reference to defeating his health care bill.

There are people on both sides who blow up with very little spark. What’s needed is leadership at the top. We need a president who will be a leader instead of some Chicago punk getting in peoples faces and rubbing it in because he won.

Also, it wouldn’t be the first time in history a political party has perpetrated acts upon themselves to further their goals. Look up “Ermächtigungsgesetz” and also note the significance of March 23, the day Obama signed his legislation into law.

  19. comment number 19 by: Mr Pink Eyes

These people who are committing these acts to do not represent the vast majority of the Tea Party movement. In every movement there is sure to be some radicals but these people are a very small minority. Yet the media and the Democrats are going to use incidents like this to try to paint all Tea Partiers with the same broad brush. We know this is coming, it was inevitable, but we cannot let the actions of a few- and a media all too willing to promote them- stop us from achieving our ultimate goal, revolution at the ballot box.

A spokesman for Rep Driehaus from Ohio claims that a rock was thrown through the office window of his downtown Cincinnati office. There’s one problem with this. His office is on the 30th floor. Here’s the office building.

“So much of these sorts of things are being reported that I am wondering just how much is being done by obamanites just to stir things up. Plus,as noted above, it’s not just dems that are getting targeted.” Patrick

Just as a reminder and to push home what Patrick said previously:

“…in the spring of 1972..students asked Alinsky to help plan a protest of a scheduled speech by George H. W. Bush… He told them, instead, to go to hear the speech dressed as members of the Ku Klux Klan, and whenever Bush said something in defense of the Vietnam War, they should cheer and wave placards reading,… ‘The KKK supports Bush.’” ~Let Them Call Me Rebel by Sanford Horwitt

With leftistas so willing to promote lies by any means necessary, we have to be on guard at all times. To be honest with you, I believe there are nut cases in every layer of society, but there are more among the far left. I’m glad Fred has taken the stance he’s taken here. People need to be adults and go through the steps set out by our founders before resorting to the solution of force. We just need to know our enemy as well.

To be honest, if I knew someone intended to shoot Obama at this point in time, and I could put myself between Chairman Zero and the bullet I would. Not because I consider the idiot Commie my President, but because I would not want the movement of good Americans brought down by this Usurper being martyred! I believe in the Constitution and patriots enough to not want to see this movement destroyed by some nutbags anger. JMH two cents.
